Utter bollocks, would have been a suicide spree for all IRA`s involved then and they would have been mowed down before they got anywhere near that number. The difference here is that the ethnic cleansing could go about unchecked and that they got away with it ( for the time being). Given similar conditions Im sure IRA would have been tempted to do the same.

You are of the opinion that every serb is a low-life mass murderer, what is there to argue? Bad seeds are found in every country, hardly grounds for calling out an entire nation. For what its worth I think alot of that applies to the germans too in WWII, but that is for another day to debate.

Im principally against, if not for anything else then because of difficulties of reverting a sentence if the man is later found innocent of his crimes. I think its barbaric, the taking of human life is beyond the task of a modern state - and they shouldnt have the authority to do so either.

I think you need to have a hard look at the social and political history of the balkans in order to understand what facilitated the conflict, its more complex and multi-layered rather than "good guys and bad guys". Yugoslavia was a union of countries that had different languages, different religions and different cultures, it was bound to go tits up. The conflict and tragedies unfolding in the 90s were not isolated incidents and something certain serbs suddenly came up with, it was the culmination of decades of conflict, hatred and war crimes stretching all the way back to world war two. I would recommend anyone interested in these kind of things to see the the new BBC production called "Nazi collaborateurs" - It delves into different aspects of WWII including Yugoslavia.
