myp2p is down anyone know of any alternative...hypothetically speaking...

Apart from anything else, by the way, can we all understand that we're giving away one of our best players for NOTHING to a Premier League rival. Barton's gonna be the key element in their fight against relegation. It's absolute lunacy if you ask me.

I'm in then, albeit a bit late... Aston Villa 1 Wolverhampton 1 Wigan 1 QPR 1 Blackburn 1 Everton 2 Chelsea 3 Norwich 1 Swansea 1 Sunderland 0 Liverpool 3 Bolton 1 Newcastle 2 Fulham 0 Tottenham 2 Man City 4 West Brom 1 Stoke 2 Man Utd 1 Arsenal 1

Absolutely gutted to see Barton leave the club now as well. Really is taking the biscuit. Genuinely have to wonder whether Ashley does enjoy seeing the fans suffer...

Analysis from Villas-Boas of a Newcastle game.

Interesting stuff. Wonder how many games that front six actually played together though... Also, not sure I'd agree with Fiven being labelled a weakness. -

Should Freddie or Mike run the Toon?
rogerbarton replied to Irrelevant Nick KP's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yes. Link? -
Don't believe this tbh. Pardew's not an idiot - he knows who our best players are and that we can't have a complete squad overhaul. As people have said, the importance of Jonas can't be underestimated. As Newcastle fans, we know how good it is to have a player who stays fit! Gutierrez is also great at running with the ball and winning free kicks and corners - a key part of our tactics last season. Unless Pardew reckons he's going to bring in enough new midfielders to revamp the middle of our team that will consistently play for the team and are good enough to replace Jonas, it would be a dreadful decision to sell Jonas.

Incidentally, has anyone apart from Mike Ashley's camp ever supported the claim that we were in such financial dire straits under Shepherd? -
My thoughts exactly, Keith. No loyalty in football, is there?

I want this Poland character to give us a full biographical profile just so that I can try and understand what is possibly making him tick.

Should Freddie or Mike run the Toon?
rogerbarton replied to Irrelevant Nick KP's topic in Newcastle Forum
Forced out Nolan??? Don't talk nonsense. They couldn't agree terms, meaning Nolan wanted them to better West Ham's ridiclously high offer of 50,000 a week, and Newcastle said, sorry, forget it! I can see why Mike is now not unpopular at all, when the Freddyites come out with bull like that. Since when was refusing to pay someone 50,000 a week the same as forcing them out??? You going to address the other points, mate? Maybe even tell us what's been better under Ashley than under Shepherd? -

How long have these people been following football? Don't they remember how Ashley forced out our inspirational captain last week, withdrew a contract offer for our best player the week before, sold our top goalscorer and local number nine a few months before, sacked our popular manager a month before that, hired a club legend at an impossible time and hung him out to dry, forced another club legend out the door giving him no chance, doomed us to relegation with appalling mismanagement, trusted in the ideas of c*nts like Llambias and Dennis Wise. The list goes on. He's been a nightmare. -

I realise Freddy wasn't ideal, but I honestly cannot believe an accurate representation of Newcastle fans would prefer Mike Ashley... -
N'Zogbia ready to snub Liverpool for Newcastle
rogerbarton replied to Dafydd's topic in Newcastle Forum
It seems as though we probably have come to an agreement with Zoggy and his representatives. The fee could be a stumbling block with Whelan though. -

Does anyone know if this "cwarr07" character on Twitter has any idea what he's talking about? He seems to have called Ba and Cabaye, though they were probably public knowledge at the time anyway. I remember him saying the Gervinho deal was done a while ago though... http://twitter.com/#!/cwarr07 -
Just to address your main point concerning our relative league positions over the last 12 years: 1999/2000 - 11 Newcastle 38 14 10 14 63 54 9 52 13 Everton 38 12 14 12 59 49 10 50 2000/01 - 11 Newcastle 38 14 9 15 44 50 -6 51 16 Everton 38 11 9 18 45 59 -14 42 2001/02 - 4 Newcastle 38 21 8 9 74 52 22 71 15 Everton 38 11 10 17 45 57 -12 43 2002/03 - 3 Newcastle 38 21 6 11 63 48 15 69 7 Everton 38 17 8 13 48 49 -1 59 2003/04 - 5 Newcastle 38 13 17 8 52 40 12 56 17 Everton 38 9 12 17 45 57 -12 39 2004/05 - 4 Everton 38 18 7 13 45 46 -1 61 14 Newcastle 38 10 14 14 47 57 -10 44 2005/06 - 7 Newcastle 38 17 7 14 47 42 5 58 11 Everton 38 14 8 16 34 49 -15 50 2006/07 - 6 Everton 38 15 13 10 52 36 16 58 13 Newcastle 38 11 10 17 38 47 -9 43 And after this point your mob have finished above us under our disastrous leadership of Mike Ashley. That would make it 6-6 over the last 12 years though, and in our PL return the table looked like this: 2010/11 - 7 Everton 38 13 15 10 51 45 6 54 12 Newcastle 38 11 13 14 56 57 -1 46 Hardly a great deal of difference, and we both beat each other once this season. As for the claims about £70k a week, you clearly have no idea how our club is being run at the moment! Let's not forget the fantastic infrastructure of Newcastle United and the fan base and stadium/facilities on which we have to base ourselves. We are capable of challenging at the very top under the right guidance. PS. Thought having a look back through the Sir Bobby Robson years might cheer up some Toon fans

That's a shock. You two being all for it. So a bloke that gets 18 goals two seasons ago in the 2nd division, gets 12 last year in the PL and a player who was one of, if not the best captains I've seen in my lifetime at the club is sold. A player with 2 years still on his contract who absolutely did not need to be sold, regardless of any unwillingness to give him another contract, he was here and he plays/ed a massive part in the new work ethic to our players. There's no other way of looking at this without shaking your head. He didn't have to be sold. Absolutely pathetic decision, in fact, the best I could possibly say if I was one of the fucking jokers who, rain or shine, blow smoke out of the regimes arse no matter what, is that it's a gamble that could pay off. It's a totally unnecessary gamble but there you go. Being a supporter though I just look at an influential player being sold when he shouldn't have been. Pathetic decision. I can't really sum up my feelings any better than this. Absolutely shocking decision, possibly the worst yet by the mugs in charge of our football club.

But I must say I can only remember Stoke away as being a dodgy game for Harper. He's always been a consistently good 'keeper all round for us when called upon. Makes some very important saves that earn us points and I think there are points we lost with Krul this season. That said, Tim certainly has potential to go far from what I can see. Distribution is definitely the worst aspect of his game for my money but that can be worked on over the years. He can also look a bit dodgy coming out to deal with crosses/set pieces. I'd say keep Harper in next season and we might have to keep Forster to see how he does when Harper is inevitably injured at some point next season, with Krul going out on loan somewhere. At some point we'll have to decide whether Krul or Forster is higher in the pecking order.

Sven great again? Back for England?
rogerbarton replied to Irrelevant Nick KP's topic in Newcastle Forum
I'm not sure Sven has really been that successful since leaving England but I've always liked him and would have preferred him to Allardyce when he was appointed. We were very unlucky in all the tournaments with him at the helm and always qualified comfortably. Since his departure, we've consistently been a shambles except for a couple of good wins in the poor qualifying group for the World Cup with Capello. Certainly he had his failings, but overall he's one of the best England managers of all time by my reckoning. As for Capello - he seems like he's just seeing his time out now. -
Is Michael Owen an Agent of Evil?
rogerbarton replied to Ayatollah Hermione's topic in Newcastle Forum
Quite surprised by Owen's comments but they've confirmed to me that he really is a grade A c*nt. Made the following points myself on twitter: @Curu63 @themichaelowen I think he's referring to the Newcastle side he joined the season after they'd finished 4th, 3rd and 5th...and reached the last 16 of the Champions League and semis of the UEFA Cup, for whom he played 58/148 PL games...during which time he pocketed £100k/week and to whom he contributed significantly to their disastrous relegation Reading that back, it was the best way I could combine things whirring around in my head within three of tweets' word limits at 5am after a heavy night... -
I fully agree - was just quoting from an article to reinforce the link with Joey's (clearly satirical) Twitter comments and their verdict. The point I'm trying to make is that Joey may have known about Cabaye's arrival and been referring directly to him with those comments.

If I were Pardew I would be looking at bringing in another right back. That said, Simmo's only just completed his first full season in the Premier League. He clearly has potential, it's just that he's cost us goals through daft mistakes. That's not the end of the world though - these are things that can be stamped out and I agree with those who say he's capable of becoming a strong player for us in the years to come.
-
Looks to be a canny signing if he can hit the ground running. Like a taller, more attractive Messi Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but has anyone made the connection to Barton's Twitter comments? "Basically they want a younger, better, cheaper player." 'Younger? Yes, he's three years the junior of Barton. Better? A twice-capped France international with more to come in the next couple of weeks, in addition to having helped Lille to the French domestic double this term for the first time in 65 years. And as for being cheaper, that's not too difficult. With reported wages around half that of the former Manchester City man's monstrous £60,000-a-week, the new man ticks just about all the boxes as to what the Newcastle hierarchy told Barton they were looking for. Please meet your replacement, Joey.' Would love to see Joey stay, but looks like the owners are moving their strategy further forward.
