We've settled into it but I feel we needed a goal before half time. Unlucky we've come up against very good Everton and Wigan sides away when it's mattered but we didn't show up for 35 minutes. Painful against these wanker Bin Dippers mk II -

Well Garth Crooks fancies us to snatch it. That's good enough for me -
Davide Santon signs a 5 year deal with Newcastle United

Funnily enough, he was handled in a similar way to Enrique under Fat Sam for much of the season (compared with the six months Fat Sam was here of course) and it made it much easier for Pardew to justify leaving his prized signing on the bench in favour of a right footed utility man because we were winning. That said, he looks absolutely quality when he bounds forward, far better than Enrique ever did tbh. Still question marks defensively but he is only young and still adapting. I reckon he'll be a fantastic player for years to come. -
Losing Guthrie and Best for a combined £1.5m to a rival (albeit a fairly hopeless one) seems like madness to me. Sign Guthrie up for a few more years and cart Best out to Celtic if you're going to get rid.

Sad to see Chrissy Hughton lose out last night but if he's off to WBA I s'pose we can be pleased Brum are staying down (although we have had a habit of beating them in the last couple of year). Would much rather see Blackpool back up next season but if West 'Ammmm do make it, I'll be more than happy to give Kevin Nolan a standing ovation at St. James'

Monroe has it right, the papers will variously claim Krul, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Cisse and Ba will all be leaving this summer. No point paying any heed until there's confirmation of it. From what I read re. French squad I thought all of these foreign based players were going to be in for sure? Glad Hatem's got a chance but I can see him ripping Gareth Barry apart Ozil style when he's got Terry behind him instead of Kompany and Gerrard/Lampard next to him instead of Yaya

Aye, and if I remember rightly it was close between ourselves, Arsenal and Man United at that point and a win would have put us top? Or am I wearing rose tinted glasses? In any case after that result we dropped off. Will never forget Neale Barry for that -
Thanks to Simpson for what he's done for us over the last three years but unfortunately he hasn't actually improved very much. He's a reliable player but certainly not top of the table material. Hopefully we've got somebody of the ilk of recent signings lined up (maybe Pieters). Bit gutted for Leon Best, Pards has clearly been happy to see him go in both of the last two transfer windows and again this time, which surprises me as he always grafts when he's on the pitch and puts in a fantastic shift. He's clearly not Demba or Papiss quality but I think he's a good lad to have around. He keeps the ball well, can show good industry to get into decent positions and occasionally has one hell of a finish on him. Presumably, though, we'll have the Dembas, Shola as back up and one more will be coming in for back up - maybe someone young and hungry who can fill in at ACN time. I wonder if Ranger will be given another chance...

I think the important thing is for us just to enjoy it on Sunday. None of us would be unhappy with Europa League next year, we could go a long way if we keep this team together
