I'm curious, where do you see your goals coming from for the rest of the season? its not as if any of your other strikers have been prolific (I'm not taking the piss, I'm just curious) We'll just have to see if Gyan can step up to the mark, apparently he prefers to play up top by himself and we didn't do too badly at the weekend playing five across midfield, we'll just have to hope other players can step up to the plate when we're desperate like Richardson did against Blackpool. Thankfully we have one of the better defences in the division.

Thats a fair point but our performances against Manchester United (0-0) and especially Chelsea away where Bent was either missing or didn't make any impact give me some hope. We have a habit of either beating or drawing against Spurs at home, even when we've been utter turd, for example during the 19 and 15 point relegation seasons we still managed to beat them 2-0 and draw 1-1.

I think its funny when people just drift in and out of day dreams. You can always tell because they're just sat there resting their head in their hands just staring into space.

Typical mackem arrogance. Have you seen your next 7 games? To be fair our next few games look tough, but we have done surprisingly well against alot of the "top" teams since Bruce came here, wouldn't surprise me if we beat Spurs, Liverpool et al and then lost to West Brom, Wigan and Bolton.

Have you seen our last 7/8 games? We will most definitely finish above Newcastle United at the end of the season and I see only Liverpool really standing in our way of European football next season. Just because we've been utter tripe in both derby games this season doesn't mean we play like that in every game.

That is bad but attendances in the 80's were very poor at a lot of clubs, including the two big north east clubs.

Do Newcastle really need to strengthen? Certainly I have been surprised by the overall strength of your playing squad and think maybe it would be wiser to save funds for the Summer? You're already safe in my opinion, a few more wins and you'll have reached 40 points, then thats your season basically over.

I can never agree with this. You should never sell your best players, and if they want to go from you when you should be big enough to keep them and attract others, you have to ask yourself the reason why. If its geographical, or there are personal problems, OK. But if he considers Villa to be a superior club, the mackems have every right to ask themselves why ? Sorry mate, but every time I see posts like this on any NUFC message board it makes me cringe, it is nothing other than 3rd rate defeatist mentality, and the mackems are certainly a bigger club with bigger support than the likes of Villa too. I don't think we are, certainly historically they have been more successful, winning a European Cup and 7 league titles, they've also consistently played their football in England's top flight since the Premier League came into being, something we haven't been able to do. I do think we have a bigger fanbase however, Villa couldn't even sell their allocation of 1500 for the Birmingham derby on Sunday.

Its a rubbish forum, the moderators appear to come online about once a month and there are always at least three threads on the same subject. The majority appear to be massively obsessed with anything Newcastle too, which annoys me vastly. I sometimes go on there but spend alot of time on Sunderland World which I do some writing for and is more of a family forum. The vast majority of posters on it are canny and constructive.

Remember seeing something similar in the Daily Mirror yonks ago, Mourinho was still the manager when that particular paper printed it.

Unlike the majority of Mackems I have grown to think that this is a good deal for the football club. There's still a lot of bitterness there but whats the point in having an unhappy footballer on your hands? In fact he hasn't looked his usual self since as early as November. I remember against Bolton at the SoL the week before Xmas, we won 1-0 and usually when we score he's the first on the scene celebrating, Welbeck scored but Bent instead of congratulating his teammates just shrugged his shoulders and walked back to the half-way line. What knarks me is that Sunday was our biggest game of the season so far and he was already thinking about handing in a transfer request the selfish bastard. £24M is the same as Man City paid for Tevez however so at least that has healed the pain somewhat.
