Ok, so if Sessegnon isn't a striker and you're down to Gyan, with Campbell & Welbeck both out injured, as well as Healy & Waghorn out the door, then that to me looks like the tactics of a business that is scaling back its operation, but relying on enough points accrued at this stage of the season to stay up. Not exactly high risk tactics as 37 points, despite the 3/12 and 0/9 returns since Bent left. The question is whether this is a temporary position or a sign of permanent retrenchment. As you're clearly a glass half full kind of person, I'll take it you're optimistic that Bent quality replacement(s) will ocme in during the summer and that, say Gyan, will not be sold. Muntari didn't let the grass grow long at Pompey and had a few fallings out at Inter, but he is undoubtedly a class player. Incidentally, was the Stoke or spurs winner his foul was indirectly responsible for? Yes, Quinn took a huge pay cut, which was something like 40% of the £1.8m shortfall in your gate receipts. As I say, as you're a glass half full kind of person, I'm sure you're convinced it will all come right in the summer. Star striker sold and not reinvested - check Relying on current points total to stay up - check Fans worried about remaining star players being sold - check Wealthy owner not wanting to subsidise further losses - check Club would go into administration if owner demands money back - check Classic Mag moron. The reason we have not reinvested the money made off the Bent deal on a striker is because there were only about 10 days left in the transfer window, the club were clearly as shocked about what happened as anyone. We didn't have time to line a decent replacement up, I'd rather the club waited until the Summer and evaluated all our transfer targets and not rush into anything. We're not as fucking thick and stupid as Newcastle, panic-buy should have been your clubs middle name in seasons gone by. Contrary to what you think, we've not targeted a place in Europe this season, our ambition at the start of the campaign was a top ten finish and anything more will have been a bonus. We should comfortably meet our objective come May. The rest of your points are so unrealistic and ridiculous they don't even deserve a fucking answer. Wealthy owner not wanting to subsidise further losses? You met him like? He outlined his escape plan to you? What a fucking spacker. 1. If the Bent deal was concluded in approximately 2 days, why wasn't 10 days long enough to find a replacement? 2. Would you not agree that since Ashley has arrived, panic selling is more the Newcastle way than panic buying? 3. Consequently, why focus on Newcastle's policy when it is your club's under discussion, unless you wish to employ diversionary tactics that create more heat than light and take attention away from the parlous financial position of your club and the unpopular decisions that are being made to keep you afloat? 4. Would you say spending 82% of turnover on wages is a sensible, or indeed defensible policy for a club that has ambitions to finish between 7th and 10th, especially if that club is making a £30m loss per annum? 5. I've not met Ellis Short, but I've met Niall Quinn at a sunderland Sure Start / Aim Higher Awards Evening at the Raich Carter Centre in Hendon. This was in 2002, just after he'd quit playing and just before he walked out on the coaching role he'd been given. Take your time answering points 1-4; I'd like to read your answers. No need to use words such as the final one in your post though. Keep it clean. Keep it civilised. 1. Name me a striker who was available at a decent price and who would have been of equal or better quality than Bent in the last ten days of the transfer window? Looking at the prices being bandied about, £35M+ for a one dimensional thug and £50M for Torres, I'm glad the club didn't rush into anything and spent respectably on an excellent player in Sessegnon. 2. In the last year or so yeah, however when Ashley came to the club you spent a lot of money, particularly under Allardyce, the signing of Xisco for £6M and £60K per week was a good one. 3. Because its ironic you're having a go at Sunderland whose financial position you don't have a clue about when your club has been run like a side street brothel for god knows how long. If you actually look at Sunderland's financial state I'm sure you'll be (unpleasantly) surprised. Mr Short has capitalised the clubs debt (around £40M) meaning it is now effectively his debt. Only three clubs in the Premier League have done this, Manchester City, Chelsea and Sunderland. We're in a very strong financial position, do you really think if we weren't we'd have pushed through the signings of Sessegnon and Muntari? 4. If you have a look around the Premier League there are many clubs spending around the same percentage of their turnover on wages. We however, are owned by a man who has a personal fortune of close to £2 Billion. If you look at Aston Villa last Summer they also made a loss of around £30M, they however are also backed by a billionaire American. Consequently they have just went and spent £24M + add ons on Darren Bent, they'll post a similar if not higher loss this Summer. -
"Sunderland's a shithole, I want to go home"

Find it ironic that Mag fans from places like Walker, Stanley etc... can sing stuff like that. I even seen people I know from Consett in the Mag end at the derby singing it, talk about double fucking standards. Still don't know what it has to do with football however, the "shithole" is above the supposed capital of the north east in the league table last time I checked however. -

You can see why they'd get upset, like What the fuck has half those pictures got to do with anything? Funny how you post a pic of the SoL at half time or full time and then a picture of the large part of the lopsided sportsdirect.com@Stjamespark. ?? -

Thanks very much :-) I thought you were being ironic with your profile pic Ironic about German accents? Ironic about Barton supplying crosses? How the fuck can you have a go at Sunderland about a lack of class when you employ people like Barton and are owned by fucking Mike Ashley. Fucking Newcastle. -

Great made up story. I can assure you it is the truth, and there are other examples of mongs acting like fucking Barbarians in Newcastle. Some poor bastard had 6 people setting about him outside of Bar 38, hopefully he was a Mag that was getting the shit kicked out of him though. -

How do you work that one out? Ahh the old "Sunderland is a shithole" response. I'm not from Sunderland marra, so I really couldn't give a fuck what you think. I don't see what any of it has to do with football to be honest, there are plenty of scratty as fuck places in Newcastle, plenty of inbred looking smackheads aswell, I was in the Quayside on Saturday night and I've never seen so many tramps in one place. People coming up to you and asking for "a coupla quid", Jesus wept. Unlike you however I am educated enough to know that not all of the city is like that. You quote it as if I said it What's any of that you've just blurted out got to do with your Dad sleeping with his sister, wankmuffin? Sigh, what poor bait. Atleast a lot of people on here can have some sort of debate, you however come out with shit insults. Get a fucking life you spastic. -

Yes opinions do vary, but Sunderland aren't a bigger club than Villa, if we were we'd still have our star striker... IN MY OPINION. People need to realise that Newcastle aren't some kind of super club, you're viewed nationwide as just another club who had a spell of challenging for the title in the mid-90's. Those days won't come back anytime soon. -

Compare league titles, also compare the amount of time they have spent in the top flight of English football to you. Everton are a bigger club, way bigger in fact. -

Really? TBF - they did get full houses for the first couple of years under the Monkey's heed - it was only after the relegations bit that they dropped a bit. That was in the initial "free ticket mackems" era though. Aye exactly. Headmasters in places like HEXHAM, BLYTH, BLAYDON, ASHINGTON, FUCKIN HAYDON BRIDGE (proper Sunderland heartlands), were getting letters - "right £50 bring the whole school doon" and that's how they filled 48,000. Newcastle have almost always had full houses for 18 year, paying top end prices (most expensive outside London). you are so full of shit They were the most expensive outside of London you fuckwit, I don't see how you could argue with that, particularly before the ground went up to 52,000. Man Utd and especially Liverpool had a policy of cheap tickets at the lower end. We didn't even categorise games until 2008. I could've told him then in 2007 that his comments were making him look a bigger fool than David Icke. The future for Sunderland should be rosier than ours due to the investment and commitment, but it won't be, because of the basic fabric of the club. They are not half the size of Newcastle United in support, stature, or local and national appeal. When you factor in it's a shithole it's ridiculous comparing the clubs even. The true difference in the clubs was shown in those figures last week - gate receipts Sunderland £12m (Prem) Newcastle £31m (CCC) it's a gobsmacking difference. If Sunderland fans had to pay proper prices they'd be even smaller - probably akin to say a Birmingham City. Fuckin' hell. Thats a beauty there. Is it incorrect? Pretty obviously it's not. I don't see how it can be contradicted even, you're seen as a scruffy no mark club with ridiculously cheap tickets who's various chairman down the years slag the support off, who's identity is defined by "being near and hating Newcastle". Some mackems even admit that on your forum. Thats what you think mate, to be honest some of these Mags that go on like Newcastle is some sort of super club are an embarrassment, I've seen stuff on here like "would you settle for being an Everton?" and also slagging off a club like Villa. Let me tell you something, Newcastle can only dream of having the history and class of both clubs I've just mentioned, historically comparing Newcastle to Everton and Villa is like comparing Stoke to fucking Arsenal. I go to every Sunderland home game and get to as many away games as I can and I assure you we're not seen as a "scruffy no mark club with ridiculously cheap tickets". So what if tickets are fucking cheap? Perhaps you like getting charged the earth to watch a game of football? Ridiculously cheap tickets for fucks sake, £30 isn't expensive enough is it not? What a pleb, you sound like the kind of person who wants football to move away from the working class coming out with shit like that. When you're not blinded by hatred and ignorance you might actually recognise the fact that Sunderland AFC have a long and proud history, historically one of the most successful clubs in the country, although we haven't exactly been showered with trophies lately, football didn't begin in 1992 or after the Second World War. We've also got a big and long suffering fanbase, perhaps you and our Chairman need to realise that. Or maybe you want to take the piss out of people who can't afford to pay extortionate prices for a season card? -

If Sunderland fans had to pay proper prices they'd be even smaller - probably akin to say a Birmingham City. Fuckin' hell. Thats a beauty there. 95% of football clubs in Britain would jizz at the thought of having a fanbase the size of Sunderland's, when we were first promoted under Keane the economy was good and as a result we averaged around 44-45,000 that year. Which is fantastic support, especially for the shit our fans have been put through for the majority of the last half century. Quinn needs to realise that times are tough, and that fans feel more alienated from the game now than at any time in football history. Its alright for him to bang on about people not buying season cards but at the end of the day he's going back to his massive house with his 8 figure bank balance. For what you had to put up with prior to that season I wouldn't knock your support that much, a lot of so called big clubs wouldn't have got as many in similar circumstances, but, just to put the record straight, your average attendance was 31,887. You got 45,000 crowds at some point in that season and you also got twenty odd thousand crowds as well, hence the average gate being 31K. I meant season 2007/08, our first season back in the top flight. -

Score draw.

So... Best and Kuqi up front?
-
The man clearly knows fuck all about football, but he didn't make over £1 billion by being stupid, he obviously has fantastic business sense and contrary to popular belief it isn't in his best interest to destroy Newcastle United. You obviously had a lot of debt left over from the days of Freddy Shepherd and he's probably taking care of that, it would be nice if clubs were abit more open with fans about the state of their finances, however, I can understand why they don't wish to publicise such matters.

Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll
Rhys1879SAFC replied to DesperateDannyB's topic in Newcastle Forum
Footballers are all the same, we had similar with Bent claiming he loved the north east and wanted to be regarded higher at Sunderland than even Kevin Phillips, then come January his head gets turned, he hands in a transfer request and fucks off to Villa. I bet you Carroll's agent played a part in the transfer request. -
Has a bid been accepted like? Can't find any news saying one has.
-
Nar I think its a cracking deal for Newcastle.
-
£35 million is a fantastic deal for Newcastle, you'd be mugs not to take it!
-
So we laughed when you went down? Who cares? You lot dedicated two fanzines to "lets all laugh at Sunderland" when we got relegated, and you think what we did was small time? How about going into the away end in the 80's to laugh at us when we got relegated? Taking the time to make songs like Dirty Monkey Mackems AND when you reached the FA Cup final in 98, giving one of our then players a shirt to wear with "Sad Mackem Bastards" on the front. It works both ways, don't get all high and mighty. 30 seconds into one of the greatest nights in your clubs history against Barcelona in the late 90's, which club were you singing about? It wouldn't happen to have been your nearest and not so dearest rivals would it?
-
11-8 - look it up - even if you counted titles as worth 2 cups we still have more "points". Also 4 of your 6 were 2 centuries ago. Thats exactly what I'd expect a Sky boy to say, football didn't start in 1992 you know. Think the league is just a tad bit harder to win than the FA Cup, I'd take six league titles over your pathetic total any day.

You mean the statue of a man celebrating doing something Newcastle haven't done for nearly sixty years? Bunch of fucking jokers.
