I'd say it's likely to be higher than that when you consider his transfer fee and the fact bigger clubs were sniffing around for him. With all due respect to SAFC, why would he accept £25K p/w when he could have held out for Liverpool or Spurs? Can you think of another reason why we wouldn't have shown an interest? I'm afraid I can't. First team football. Hopefully he spaffs in that bitter twat anorthernsoul's face on derby day. I've never seen so many sour grapes.

Over the moon with this.

Won't be too fussed if we missed out on him to be honest, I think Gardner is probably a better player for us, the only thing Gibson has in his locker is that he is capable of scoring a screamer here and there. Out of the three Manchester United players we're rumoured to be in for (Gibson, Brown and O'Shea) the only one I would be happy to see us sign is O'Shea.

£13m is probably the going rate for a young quality English player these days, look at Henderson man, he's had 2 decent season's and he's fetched in £20m.

Yeah whatever you thick Mag bell-ends. We're oh so jealous and oh so obsessed! I mean, how can we possibly live up to your amazing trophy haul? Your soap opera owner, your fat, thick as fuck fans? Don't forget the stadium thats a piece of hotch potch shite where you need binoculars to see whats happening on the pitch at the highest point. How can we live up to the amazingly passionate support? The boycoutting, the chanting... the smashing up of phone boxes. Its funny as fuck listening to some of the shit your idiot fans come out with, "one of the biggest clubs in the country", "deserving of European football every year", "the fans are the most long suffering in the country". And we're the deluded ones? Aye right. 6>4.

Yeah, and that bunch of nobodies still managed to finish the season in the top half of the table, above your bunch of overrated shite, despite you effectively having a three point head start on us. How can our derby game be one of the biggest in football when we aren't even your main rivals?

I don't know whats funnier, your bitterness or the fact that Harper got pushed over off a child. -

Hmm... obviously derby day doesn't count when it comes to this. Sure there were more arrests at the Wear/Tyne derby in January than there were at the Old Firm game when the Jock government got themselves involved to try and calm tensions. -
Canny article:

Patronising prick. What makes you so much better than us? Nothing. We've scored more and conceded less and took 4 points off you, utterly thrashing you 5-1. I don't think you'll ''push on'' either and it's arrogance of the highest proportion to suggest you will. You're shite, you've spent a fortune and half your players are crocked, shite or on loan. One win against Wigan and you're all full of shite again, about finishing above us and pushing for Europe, One things for sure Bruce has never achieved anything as a manager and every year his sides have the same slide - he only has a plan A and can rarely do anything about it when the slide begins. We are a better team than you this year and providing we invest in the summer we'll be a better team than you next year. Nar, we're better than you and have been for a few years now. The table will show this at the end of the season. So you took 4 points off us? We haven't lost to Arsenal this season, we must be of equal quality to them eh? I honestly couldn't name half your team mate, Danny Simpson, Leon Best and Shola Ameobi are not Premier League players, the rest are decidedly average. You're fucking shite, ran by Cockneys from top to bottom, and if you trust Ashley's word about investment then you're just as stupid as we think you all are.

Fans are fickle. 4-1 up on Saturday and the fans were chanting his name.

You've overachieved to be fair. If someone told me at the start of the season Newcastle would be 9th with 4 games remaining I would have pissed myself laughing. Our target at the start of the season was a top 10 finish and we are on course to do that. Also, regarding money spent, I'm sure that since Bruce took over our net transfer spend is pretty close to zero so we may have spent alot, but we've also recouped a vast amount. We'll finish above you at the end of the season and be in a prime position to push on again next year.

"Throwing darts at a youth player". What a fucking wanker.

Add three more to that injury list after today. I don't think Bruce has made a tactical substitution in about two months, every game he uses all his subs up replacing injured players. The medical set-up at the club needs a full review at the end of the season.

I remember being impressed with the light blue away kit by Lonsdale, bought it and after one wash half the Reg Vardy logo had come off. I'm happy with Umbro, the kits feel professional and generally look nice, although I am unsure about next season's number. I wish we could get a different sponsor aswell. Tombola looks terrible I reckon.

I'd like to see Bruce move for Jarvis at the end of the season.

I did a Gyan dance in the front room when the ball hit the net. Oddly enough, so did I. Gyan the Irish hero Did you then celebrate by baking a potato?

I can see this becoming difficult. How do you define it ? There is an obvious link between acting big and becoming successful, attracting supporters back, and being seen to be big by others as a result. The problem is, if a club acts like a small club [like we are doing], does it mean they aren't a big club anymore ? Or is it just that you are a big club being run badly ? That's the thing though, people not going to matches isn't just about success on the field Lots of our fans have stopped going because they aren't happy with how the club is being run, sick of having to get by and then there was the 2 failed stadium moves (1 of which none of us wanted) I think we'll get less season ticket sales next season because people seeing that we are being left behind if we don't get investment so are boycotting Newcastle are obviously a big club and have a fantastic support, you could see that with the protests etc but I don't think support equals everything I have to disagree with your first comment. Success on the pitch is everything. Win and your crowds go up, at any level of the game, at NUFC a winning team is a full house. 2nd sentence - most people have forgotten about those stadium moves now. Personally, I think we should have moved to Leazes Park and forced the issue more. We will get less season ticket renewals next season because the team is struggling on the pitch and there is little optimism for improvement. 3rd sentence - I don't think any club would fill a 52000 stadium anywhere in the world having put up with what we have for so long to be honest, although it is going down now, it will still hover between 30-40,000 even when the damage inflicted by Mike Ashley increases, and no club in the world would get that either, especially when even a few wins in a lower league will send it back near 50,000 again. Just my opinions of course. Oh, and what have you been through? One relegation in 20 years? A few Champions League campaigns here, a few UEFA Cup runs there, a couple of FA Cup finals thrown in for good measure. I worship at the feet of 1 relegation in 20 years you lucky lucky lucky bastards. I don't get all this shite about Newcastle fans being long suffering, we're the ones who have been long suffering, staying up this season will see us reach our 5th successive top flight appearance for only the 2nd time in half a century. We finished with the record low for points in 2003 and then broke it in 2006. We've been through more shit than enough and to still get 40,000 coming through the turnstiles most weeks is fantastic, its what makes Sunderland a big club.

42 to stay up I reckon.

Really? I pointed out that Walton is contractually obliged not to say anything negative about his employers, a point you failed to grasp. Don't you think spending 82% of your income of player wages is a trifle dangerous? I'd say this is gambling with the very future existence of your club. As I said though, if you wish to ignore the danger signs, so be it, but don't say you were not warned when the whole edifice comes crashing down. You're either on a wind-up or just very thick, read the article and all your "points" get shown up for what they are... inane ramblings. -

All well and good until you see the part where it says he's a lifelong sunderland fan. That means he's fatally ocmpromised, especially as a club employee he'd be summarily dismissed if he said anything negative about his employers; standard corporate contract. Unlike you, I have no reason to take statements that come out of my club with a pinch of salt. We aren't ran by a comedy Cockney rabble. I (and every other Sunderland fan) have full and complete trust in how Sunderland is being run. Stability is the key and with Bruce signing a new long term contract yesterday I couldn't be happier really. As you cleverly pointed out, Walton is a Sunderland fan. You for some reason thought this was a bad thing, I however, am thankful we have people who genuinely care about the club in charge, it means they will not make stupid decisions and gamble with our future. Just enjoy being ran by fatso and let us get on with it.
