Let's talk about serious things. Does Joelinton deserve the Ballon d'Or?
-
Oh my God, I was so looking forward to Newcastle playing again. I hope I can get away this year and make a quick trip because I really want to be back at St James Park.
-
I have not read the original information, but I have read that there has been a statement from PIF to the 4 teams it controls (the 4 that have money: Al Nassr, Al Ahly, Al Hilal and Al-Ittihad) that this year they could not have money to make signings. In fact, if you look closely, the reality is that so far this year there are almost no signings from Saudi Arabia. (Only Diaby)
-
I agree. But it is also true that we have signed bench players and future players with Kelly and Osula. What positions should we sign to improve the starting XI? Clearly the right winger and the left back. Maybe a defender if we take into account that Botman is injured and Schar needs to rest from time to time. The reality is that it seems that we are trying to sign a starting center back (Guehi) and that Hall could be that starting left back to replace Burn. What we really need is for all the players to be healthy. But I see a very solid starting XI.

Wait what? I promise I posted the message in English. hahahaha.

No. I think it is understood that, in that case, one of the two right-handers (Almirón or Murphy) would also have to be released and a player with his characteristics would have to be signed for the left wing. It is about having a balanced team. In any case, it is something that is not going to happen and it is not something that should be given too much thought.
-
Yes. In that case, I think Gordon should be tried on the right. Or maybe Willock could play there as a false winger, leaving Trippier or Livramento all the wing. The times I've seen Gordon on the right, I've not been completely convinced. He has the natural talent to shine, but obviously he shines less on the right. I mentioned this at the beginning of the transfer window. It's a shame because I really like Barnes, but it doesn't make sense for your two most talents players to play on the left and the two who play on the right to be mediocre. So if an offer came for Barnes for the same price he cost and we could sign a great right winger with that, it would make a lot of sense. Obviously, I don't think that can happen. It's bad luck not to have been able to keep Minteh.

And this record is for a Right Winger. The same as Almiron (probably Almiron would play as a Second Striker in USA, but...)

Right now we are like this. In my opinion, the squad is closed for signings while we wait for us to sign a centre-back (Guehi). We must remember that Lascelles and Borman are injured and, although they recover 'soon', they have had very serious injuries that could keep them from being good for the whole season. I am counting on the departures of Lewis and Fraser. We also have Ashby, although I didn't put him in because there was no space. I think it is possible that Targett stays. I wouldn't mind if Hayden stayed. I think that as a starting midfielder, a specialist in destruction could be good to play some Cup games and give us a rest from time to time. Also, I am terrified that we will suffer the plague of injuries from last season again, so we would have to cover all the bases. I hope that Kuol goes on loan. I haven't been able to see the boy at all, but he must be far from his level yet. We need to sort out the goalkeeping issue, but I'm not worried about it (and there's Gillespie too, but I think his role will no longer be to be a regular in the team). I'd stick with Osula. I've hardly ever seen him, but we all know Wilson's problems with injuries (and Isak has had some in his later years too). If Almiron leaves, I think we should make a big outlay and bring in a very good player for the right wing. I don't know if we'll have the money, but it could make a difference if we play 'another' Gordon on the right wing.

Mudryk has unique qualities for the world of football. I don't see many players faster than him or with better conditions to gain advantages. I'm totally serious. But the boy needs a lot of things. Adaptation, surely. Someone really trusting him and putting him in. Because we haven't seen him at Chelsea for 4 games in a row yet. I remember how the whole world laughed at Vinicius in his first 2-3 years at Real Madrid.

Pedro Neto is a good player, but I will be shocked if my club invest 60M in a player that have missed more than 100 matches because the injuries in the last 3 seasons. And I am not sure he was better than Mudryk, Madueke, Palmer, Sterling, etc etc etc

And the best Gk they have is Slonina and doesn't appear in the picture... (I guess is with the reserve team).

I have the impression that, although they may not succeed, Manchester City will explore the option of Rodrygo Goes. -

Julián Alvarez will be the next top scorer in the Spanish league next year. I bet for him. -
Baggio was hated by the Fiorentina fans for many years. His entire career and much more. A few years ago, he revealed that he never wanted to leave Fiorentina, but that they sold him without giving him the option because of the issue you mentioned. And that he never had the option to decide.

Borini?

Nico Gonzalez is one of my favourite players. I think he would excel in any team in Italy or Spain. I have been saying for years that he is perfect for Simeone's Atleti system (so he is perfect for Howe's style as well). I hope that, if he comes, he can adapt to the pace of the Premier League. He is a very strong player, very fast. Originally a centre forward, but when he came to Europe (at Stuttgart) he started to play as a second striker or even as a winger and he did very well. In my opinion, his best position is close to a striker. I think he could be a very good option for the right wing. He is a player who scores a lot of goals. Regarding the relationship between Juventus and Fiorentina, there is a circumstance. Many Fiorentina players end up playing for Juve. Baggio was the most famous case, but recently we have had Bernardeschi, Vlahovic and Chiesa. The fact is that a few years ago, Fiorentina has a new president. And, interestingly, the president is a Juventus fan, but he has been firmly opposed to selling players to Juventus. The Chiesa deal was already done when he arrived, and he couldn't do anything to sell Vlahovic because the player only wanted to go there. I understand that players, especially Italian ones, might prefer to go to Juventus because it's the biggest team in the country they're already in.

I will not be the one to criticize the conservative and defensive game. I love when Atlético did it (2013-2020), I love when Howe did it with us last year. Even I, in the times in which I have been a coach of neighborhood teams, used to be quite defensive because it was the best way to win in a football where there is hardly any level and the tactics shine. Going into the tournament, I believed England potentially had the best team. I had no doubts, in fact. But once I saw the real list and saw that players like Grealish, Rashford, Henderson, Maddison and Chilwell were left out and that they only had Shaw (injured) as left back, I thought things might not go so well. There is no doubt that Southgate, by results, is perhaps the best English coach in history. He has played 4 major tournaments and has achieved two runners-up finishes in Europe and has reached the quarterfinals in the last World Cup (where England did play well in my opinion and deserved to beat France in that game). The problem is that England has a team and selection to play something different and, making the most of it, have won a title. I think the best years of a great generation have been wasted, although now another one is coming. The one led by Foden, Bellingham, Saka, Gordon, Rice... Still young players. And it is essential to find the ideal coach for this. It makes no sense that, with the poor performance that almost all the players have given in this tournament, you have not given more minutes to players like Watkins, Gordon, Eze... As for yesterday's game... It was typical of a final. England were very good without the ball. Spain was not too superior, even if it tried harder. He barely managed to create chances. Anyone could have won it. England, after tying, had good minutes to score the second. He was even able to force extra time with that last corner that Olmo took under the sticks. I have been a defender of Southgate because results always rule, but I think it is time to make a change. The problem is that I don't know if there is an English coach qualified to handle this great team or you would have to go look for a coach outside.
