  1. if we all stopped drinking and started thinking, things might improve! protesting & going to game is fine - even if it might result in a few people thrown out i guess. as for owners, we the fans morally own the clubs. fuck the idea of a benevolent despot geordie billionaire doing what the fans want - that was the idiotic NU$C leaflet v Blackburn in Sept 08 position - impossible & ridiculous, as well as putting up the idea, from a certain scurrilous publication, that a vanguard of Nietzschean special ones could come forward to tell the owner what the fans want. pie in the sky or not, Newcastle United should be owned 100% by fans.
  2. boycotts don't hurt Ashley directly - they hurt employees on minimum wage, as if pies, pints & programmes go unsold, they get sacked, not Ashley. The only way is to have a mass non-attendance of, say, a cup game - an empty ground may talk to him.
  3. See, you can do a good post Completely agree. Shoe waving or whatever is cringe worthy and just feeds the sky camera's with no impact. Hastily arranged fan groups fizzle out to two blokes and a dog waving their fist in the concourse. If the various groups could talk to each other and move as one in a logical organised manner then maybe, just maybe it would have something. Typically though there are Ego's involved who maybe dont have the fans/club as their no one priority and that cant work. We've got either the moribund & discredited NUST, which has thje benefit of proper organisation & constitution. Or we have The Mag, Toon Talk, Black & White Forever, Toontastic, Newcastle On Line, various blogs, away travel groups etc etc who can all come together anD see what we can achieve. A meeting on or before Arsenal with the idea of a leaflet, meeting & campaign from Fulham on needs to happen. Protests need to be at EVERY gam,e
  4. Ok, serious response..... As I see it there are 2 possible ways forward for Newcastle fans, neither of which involves a half arsed, pissed bunch of mongs gesticulating at the club offices on saturday week. There needs to be a meeting called of all fan groups; the 3 fanzines, various blogs, messageboards and other groups. representatives from each aren't elected, but show willingness by their passion. get together and thrash out a sort of joint way forward - like the Irish left did in the recent election there. Use the energy & consensus to either set up a loose amalgam of a republic of letters to bring pressure on board with regular, organised, disciplined protests - not pissed shoe waving or crap ideas like the Poznan. If a consensus like this can't be achieved, then en masse, rejoin NUST & take it over, then return it to its campaigning original ideals (not the terrible NU$C idea though). We need to be organised, united & equal - no egos or media darlings wanted.
  5. Far better for 152 orange away shirted self selected ultra uber shoe waving superfan messiahs to do a solo sponsored Poznan while screaming "CONFORM! CONSUME! OBEY!" at half time in the Arse game, in support of a mardy, pampered millionaire ex con who has been committing serious professional misconduct on line, for the purpose of persuading Ashley to do what they tell him........
  6. and if you google the mobile number... This guy is seriously shit at the internet. obsessive stalker no doubt emptying my bank accounts as we speak....
  7. 100% Irish Someone dial his mobile number off the Percy Main site and put that theory to the test. If he sounds like Brad Pitt off Snatch, it's all good. not brave enough to dial it yourself i take it.....
  8. just to let you all know, i've put McFaul on ignore, so please don't quote his posts. thanks
  9. I take the point about wanting what he contractually was owed, but the fact was he was prepared to sit on his arse until it got paid - similar to his possible future here if no club comes in for him. If you wish to about contracts then I think we need to be aware of employment law. As a Union branch secretary I know quite a bit about this after dealing with redundancies and disciplinaries in the past however many years. firstly, his incident in McDonald's ought to have seen him, at best, get a final warning for the catch all reason of bringing employer in to disrepute, which is in every contract & staff code of conduct i've ever seen. consequently behaving himself for 2 years is the minimum we should expect and if you think that his conduct on Twitter has been acceptable then i think you need to inquire as to your shop steward's availability if you're about to launch a barrage of negative publicity about your employer in to cyberspace. while above him the club is a disgrace, Barton has engineered this situation, either deliberately or accidentally. He is the winner in this as he can now negotiate another fat contract with a new club. Load of bollocks, I have no doubt if a fair contract offer had been made he'd have stayed here for the rest of his top flight career, he consistently said he needs to put down his roots, cos his birds geordie, the bairns ganna be geordie, and he loves the city. It's like September 11th and you're focussing on WTC7, look at the important issue here, and it's not Barton's misbehaviour. you obviously didn't read my post as your answer has nothing to do with what i posted. two further points; referring to women as "birds" is unacceptable and this time last week i was on a tour of San Mames. I'd like to discuss that with you, but unfortunately i won't because of your last post.
  10. Good old Joey! He's professional footballer not one of the Conroys or the Seers; he shouldn't be drinking & fighting anyway.....
  11. I wouldn't disagree with all of that. However, I'm not sure the protestors you're characterising actually exist beyond a few kids on twitter. I don't think the average fan subscribes to the notion of Joey Barton as martyred saint. I do think he's a lot more down to earth than your average premier league footballer though and I do think he's sorted himself out to a large degree. We didn't win a game without him last season either. He probably should've known better than to make those 'tweets' but at the same time he's probably fucking sick of the state of the club. He's not the problem. The protests, as ever, will be stillborn. i agree Barton is a fascinating case & he's made amazing personal progress, but he's a work in progress. He may not be the problem, but it has all worked out nicely for him.

  13. Barton probably sees himself as Rosa Parkes II after being hauled off the bus on Sunday, but the fact is many people who've suffered mental health issues and / or addictions reinterpret the world as revolving entirely around them. This monomania is the way they explain their place in the world & often can be characterised by rampant egotism and / or paranoia. Barton is clearly suffering some of that; it isn't an illness, it's just a lack of perspective. Eventually he'll realise he's arsed up, but by then he'll be long away from Tyneside. however, I genuinely pity those who see Barton as the person round whom to build a protest. He's an arrogant, pampered multi millionaire who was great last year but shit for 3 before that, including 6 months in jail & a lengthy ban, when he took the club's money without a flicker of conscience. Not to mention stinging us for the £300k signing on fee citeh wouldn't pay him. Ashley is a shitbag, but Barton isn't his polar opposite.
  14. Gene, now don't take this the wrong way... You're a bit mental aren't you? no, just older & wiser than you. but don't worry, like joey barton you'll grow up one day
  15. As you've made a fool of yourself with little assistance I've taken your PM down but you didn't do what you were asked. I asked you to substantiate one of your bogus claims. apology accepted
  16. You is propa marxist genie of the dialectics and so on? Or Trotsky version....? Proper Marxist www.worldsocialism.org gives you an inkling where i'm at.....
  17. Mate of mine has ALL the singles. Do you mean the 1992 ones or all of them? I've got all 1992 but not all the rest; magnificent stuff. 2nd favourite band behind Teenage Fanclub. Music never lets you down; football always does..... I dunno I didn't delve too deep. But he got them all in one go around 92 so you might be right... He got into Shellac as well.. Steve Albini produced "Seamonsters" in 91 & formed Shellac in 93. Prior to that he was in Big Black & Rapeman. Hell of a producer & guitarist. Weddoes formed back in 84. Gedge did Maths at Leeds Uni with my mate who sits in the Gallowgate
  18. One day he's gonna be on holiday somewhere and he's gonna walk into the wrong bar and get his face smashed in. I don't condone that sort of carry on, but I would have very little sympathy for him. violence solves nothing.
  19. your goals are to get yourself known as a superfan stormy petrel and leader of the underlings among newcastle fans who don't understand as well as you do how to "support." your mantra is CONFORM! CONSUME! OBEY! this is why you wish to see fans buying the orange shirt, as to you it is a sign of obedience to the vanguard elite in which you are positioning yourself. you denounce anyone who sees the existence of complicated truths over simple lies and use your power as admin here to ridicule opposition.
  20. cheers for clearing that up. CONFORM CONSUME OBEY
  21. unbelievable isn't it? Admin putting Personal Messages up. i reckon he'll be getting sacked from that role soon when the real power finds out Well there certainly seems to be a bit of needle between you two. No idea what the history is like but it's a reasonably entertaining distraction from St. James' Towers I suppose. he doesn't like being fingered as a wannabe fans' messiah i guess.
