Was very surprised when I looked up Guivarc'h on Wikipedia and it says he only played 4 times for us and scored one goal. Is my memory that cloudy? I thought he started at least 10-15 games for us. last game spurs (a) oct 98; only goal v liverpool (h) aug 98 iirc

Tiote not playing vs Arsenal + doubtful for derby
Gene_Clark replied to Lake Bells tits's topic in Newcastle Forum
is he any good? i went to the blackburn & man city home games last year where he cost a goal each time. pressure was on, he knew you were watching seriously, i'm not sure of the fuss; i saw 5 newcastle games last season (the 2 mentioned previously, fulham & west brom, plus arsenal in the cup) - and man utd on the telly before he signed. loved the arse equaliser but worried about all the bookings. perhaps if i watched newcastle games on satellite like most people on here i'd be able to comment. just asking those who've seen him in real life to comment.... -

I was at the Oxford game - twice!! Quinn's goal when it was disallowed at 1-0 & the 2-2, when I remember Mark Stein curled a beauty at the Leazes. Percy Main 7 Cullercoats 1 incidentally

"Slaughterhouse 5," "Slapstick" or "Cat's Cradle" great places to start with Vonnegut. "Crying of Lot 49" for Pynchon. I've just finished "The Ginger Man" by JP Donleavy with Alasdair Gray's "Lanark" to come next

Leeds won 3-2 as they managed to get their sofa in front of the goal to stop us equalising

If it fails to get off the ground, it fails & we can shrug our shoulders and say we tried. I walked away from the club 2 years ago at a deeply emotional level & really wouldn't be heartbroken if, as I fear, this turns in to another relegation season. However, I see the club as being run (possibly in to the ground) by cretinous shysters & that is not on, so I'm trying to get involved in trying to do something positive. As I say, it may fail; if so, I've still got Percy Main Amateurs to follow. I'd rather do that than snipe on the net or in the bar. Each to his or her own though. -

Yeah; C20 US Lit is my specialist area. Did my Masters in it. Bukowski just falls behind James Ellroy for me now Henry Miller is where it's at baby. I asked my tutor about Miller and his comment was "I don't believe him." Rosy Crucifixion is fabulous stuff, but for the real hilarious Miller in extremis "Opus Pistorum" can't be beaten. If you can find the bio "My Friend Henry Miller" by Alfred Pearles that's a hoot as well. I stopped at "I asked my tutor"... why? don't you feel that other people's opinions are illuminating? in the study of literature, critical thought is crucial. -

90% of the people sniping on this board handed over their hard earned and fully supported the idea of a united fans pressure group. Not for the purpose of self-agrandising, but just to get a vote and go with the majority in a professionally run organisation. Certain individuals pursuing their own agenda within the organisation or insisting on starting splinter groups when they don't agree with the direction of others want to look at themselves rather than giving it holier than thou protestations. My way or the highway is no way to run a collective. I am still a member of NUST, but since the election of the committee, the organisation simply stopped functioning. 3 former committee members helped set up this loose amalgam of interested parties because NUST had failed, or lost any credibility. In the absence of NUST action, what other alternative is there? -

Well not everyone's had as much of a classical education as I have, obviously enough. I like to think I can bring a bit of culture to the board. Being one of the advanced section of NUFC support (I don't go to the games for a start), I've obviously been selected to act as one of the vanguard to represent you all, which is why I'm going to the Monday meeting on your behalf. (DO I NEED TO SAY THIS POINT IS IRONIC OR CAN PEOPLE WORK THAT OUT?) -

Looking forward to attending this meeting. I was at the last one where it seemed almost all involved were willing to work together. Ironically biggest naysayers were Utd For Change's representatives. in the absence of credible comment from the supine NUST, it appears to be this or repeated on-line whining from the cynics who find it easier to snipe than organise -

He was one of the 20th century's most prominent dramatists; I just think the quotation was apposite considering the situation at Newcastle United. Many people use quotations from poems, plays or song lyrics, sometimes unwittingly, to illustrate and illuminate a particular situation; I just used this one. -
