  1. i thought register was used to indicate the choice of vocabulary & pitch to indicate the tone
  2. My favourite current female singer is Lavinia Blackwall from Trembling Bells
  3. She's no Sandy Denny or Diamanda Gallas I'm not gonna embarrass meself but i'll admit i have no idea who those ladies are (may have to give them a check out ) I'n all honesty (and this may be showing my youth here) but most of what i'd consider decent female vocalists/fronts persons faded out in the 90's - skin from skunk anansie or catatonia, hell even early gwen stefani in now doubt. Birds with a bit of presence and personality as well as the vocals to go with it. But my favourite artist of all time is kate bush, so what the hell do i know xD Sandy Denny (RIP) was a folk singer; Diamanda Galas is an opera singer - just two contrasting female singers I like
  4. is that a dance act? Why aren't you like this all the time? we're all the sum of our parts i suppose..... "wouldn't it be great if it was like this all the time?" one of Van The Man's finest moments....
  5. The last act I saw live who have a female singer were Beauty Pageant, supporting Davey Henderson at the Star & Shadow. I liked them tremendously; reminded me of NYC No Wave stuff like Teenage Jesus with Lydia Lunch or Essential Logic. Have a listen.... http://soundcloud.com/beauty-pageant
  6. She's no Sandy Denny or Diamanda Gallas
  7. do you mean "pitch" rather than "register?"
  8. it says neil curtis on the initial post, but neil ashton on the link; strange....
  9. don't take this the wrong way mate, but i'm really not interested in what you think.
  10. Bland, dull AOR power ballads warbled by someone from Eastenders, or so it appears. Would turn it off but golf is even fucking worse
  11. Fucking wonderful city Bilbao; not just football but the Guggenheim Museum & Casco Viejo districts; wonderful vibe, brilliant people. In fact, whole of Basque Country (Euskal Herria) is a brilliant place. hope Athletic Club win europa league & also fervently hope Newcastle United are invited to be opening guests at the new ground in 2014
  12. no, i never drink pre match intend to do Bodega then Newcastle Arms on Mlonday
  13. Anyone watching Athletic Club tonight? Aupa Euskal Herria
  14. i've not seen him in Bodega in possibly 4 seasons, though i only attend 50% of home games & go for a pint after 50% of those. not often in the Newton now; too much like a low rent Osborne Road or pretend 3 Mile. For me it's either Benton Ale House or Tynemouth (Lodge, Stuffed Dog, Cumberland or Barca) for my Saturday night out I might be in the Bodega tonight, not sure, but I am in Tynemouth and the Fish Quay fairly often these days, in fact I might be watching the match tomorrow in one of the pubs in that area i'll be in Bodega post match Monday, but watching tomorrow's game via the net

  16. incidentally ALS editor McFadden's old man is a former SWP full time worker who now works for an Anti Racism organisation on Merseyside
  17. that thread makes me want to vomit; fucking morons
  18. Personally I booed Shearer & Shearer alone after the Wolves game, for missing yet another penalty; cost us 2 points that did. Seriously, wasn't Viana booed on because of his shite pass at Marseilles that led to their 2nd goal? I didn't boo at full time as I was off down the road in mute disappointment
  19. if i've got the right person, i think it was a brain tumour; i may have the wrong person though wasn't my daughter who had a brain tumour, but thanks anyway. You could be thinking of MWNN [who I haven't heard of for a while} that was his young son (Jack iirc?); no idea what happened - lad was very sick for a while sorry i've got you mixed up, but someone's adult daughter was very ill. still remember with astonishment when you said hello to me in the newton that night!
  20. He outright refuses to answer any personal questions whatsoever. The grey man, if you will. i met him in my local pub one sunday night, out of the blue considering he lives in scarborough or thereabouts, or did back then (2005 or 2006). anyway, off out on a cycle ride for an hour or two - be back on for the Stations of the Internet Cross later on.
  21. if i've got the right person, i think it was a brain tumour; i may have the wrong person though
  22. was your daughter very ill a few years ago? apologies if i'm thinking of the wrong person
  23. Have you not finished embarrassing yourself yet you bizarre little outcast of a man? He comes out with more personal slurs than everyone else on the board put together, and he threatens physical harm by-proxy via his daughter. Not that I feel intimidated or denigrated on a personal level, but that's quite irrelevant to the horrendously ill judged 'point' you're making. wasn't his daughter very ill a few years ago? apologies if i've got the wrong person.....
  24. nah, i'm too old for him; steve's got loads of young male friends he's emotionally close to
