  1. Hmmm - not sure about that. I know who most of them support & the vast majority aren't mackems McNally is celtic, but with mackem sympathies
  2. I would protect my son with my life; I think any decent, middle class parent would do the same. There are people out there you just wouldn't want your children to meet.
  3. Looking forward to taking my cousin & his daughter (flew over from Bilbao last week & going back on Sunday just before Villa game) to the game now, along with my son. Brilliant that kids can see this game for £5
  4. i remember living in LS6 a quarter of a century ago & seeing Sikh kids playing Muslim kids at cricket (India v Pakistan) at the end of terraced streets, illuminated only by streetlights, around November 1987 time.
  5. Be interesting to see just how our new supporter demographic will be represented tonight
  6. correct; good geographical point
  7. Doubtful it stood; As two spent swimmers, that do cling together And choke their art.
  8. To me it's obvious that Ashley, Llambias & Pardew are like Inspector George Gently; intelligent, perceptive, undemonstrative outsiders from the South East, up here to sort things out. Meanwhile an element of Newcastle's support, as well as several journalists are like Sergeant John Bacchus; emotional, overwrought, mercurial & quixotic locals, unable to see the wood for the trees.
  9. Cousin & his elder daughter over from Vitoria-Gasteiz in Basque Country; doing game with them & my young'un for £40 - great value. Looks like Bodega beforehand, possibly Newcastle Arms after. 2-0 Gosling & Cisse
  10. If I go, I'll be giving Shay given a round of applause (tired...)
  11. 1. You can pay on the door, it'll never sell out 2. Half Man Half Biscuit are playing the Academy on 15th November
  12. Birtley to Tynemouth is a long drag by public transport at night
  13. i'm not sure if i stated it or not, but the Blake Morrison book was published in 1994, in the immediate aftermath of the trial. also, i believe venables & thompson were punished (as morrison states in his book) by being tried in an adult court & sent to prison, rather than an attempt at rehabilitating them. as regards breivik, i've stated several times that Norwegian cultural norms & values are at variance to ours; this is why non Norwegians may find it difficult to accept the punishment he has been given.
  14. i see Barton's having a meltdown again.
