  1. I see what you're saying about Saturday being a "free" game, as the pressure has been lessened by the recent 6 points. However, surely we travel in better spirits than before Villa, which I see has now been subject to a Stalinist rewrite of being a "lucky" win. I'd like to make the point that goalkeeping of the standard Krul produced that night is as far from luck as you can get. However, much as I hold Fritzl Tree in utter & abject contempt, I think he has, like the broken clock, managed to get it right once in a while. Saturday could define our season; a bad result & scores elsewhere going against us mean we are only 3 points above danger. At that point, I'd imagine the Europa League is immediately downgraded to the level of the FA Cup & we start from scratch to gain league points. An unlikely win, good fortune elsewhere resulting in a 9 point gap & we start to look forward to the rest of the season. A draw, which my instinct is going for (Without any deep reasoning) & Pardew has to make some tough decisions.
  2. I'm sure that the company of Bryan Robson, Paul McGrath & Norman Whiteside would have kept him clean & sober....
  3. Why would I want to PM you? I suppose I could explain how apostrophes should be used for both omission ("Let's" not "Lets") and possession ("death's" not "deaths"), but other than that I'm at a loss what you want me to send you a message about.
  4. but you weren't very successful; agreed?

  8. quite probably - you seem the quality of talent available round Dunston? as regards sexuality, i always thought Gascoigne was actually an unacknowledged gay man - presumably because he had no male role model in his life, he sought companionship & protection from strong male figures & made terrible decisions regarding women. seriously, with all his money (gone i know), why did he only ever have 1 serious relationship (destructive as it was) with a woman?
  9. Ferguson - if we play him as part of a three with Gouffarn & Gouffren to get balls in the box & drop Debuchy who is shit
  10. I've just read a biography of Garrincha & his tale is very similar to Gascoigne's (though at least Garrincha achieved what he was capable of in the game); dysfunctional family, no education, precocious talent, early fame, inability to manage money, bad friends & worse advisers, terrible problems with personal life (violence, self-pity & tears). Garrincha died of the drink aged 46 or so
