I find Scotland's decision to say they won't be allowing any Scottish players to play in the GB team at the Olympics funny. Seriously who would get in from Scotland???? Charlie Adam possibly for the squad in all seriousness, who else? Hutton? He can't get a game for Spurs. Seems a very backward step from the SFA regardless of who is or isn't good enough to be honest. Losing Wales would be a bigger blow with Ramsay a year older, Bale, and perhaps Giggs tempted if Beckham goes ahead with playing. isnt it an under 23s tournament in the olympics with a few over 23s allowed in the team? that criteria basically strips away ALL of scotlands players who had a hope in hell of playing.

thug, an over rated thug at that and certainly not a 12 million player didnt think I'd be saying this after his first season but colo is a massive player for us now and 29 is not old for a centre half.

behind who exactly? both played as many games as possible last season under both managers. Jonas, as for last season, was basically our only proven ball carrier, he kept possession and ran with it unlike anyone else, one of our few pacy players. as for Barton, our player of the season, he was a revelation last season, it was possibly his careers best, frankly whenever we didn't have those two we looked a shadow of the team that turned in some excellent performances. our squad was paper thin last season, we had a solid first 11 and that was it, signing a few players does not mean we should be shipping that same 11 out of the door or we'll just be in the same predicament but with players who are totally unproven and unaccustomed to the premier league Behind genuine quality which we will hopefully sign this summer. Jonas isn`t a key player for us due to his qualities. He is a key player due to lack of options. There`s a difference. so no one then. you can't base anything on "hopeful signings" we've got the squad we've got there isnt some messi-alike player waiting in the wings, get real, we finished 12th this season with a ridiculously small squad we need to build up the quality of the squad, not go for one out one in.

N'Zogbia ready to snub Liverpool for Newcastle
philippealbert replied to Dafydd's topic in Newcastle Forum
honestly, why? I see next to no merit in the idea of signing him especially for the touted fee. we're solid in the area he plays as it stands but we're crying out for investment elsewhere -
given the circumstances I'm struggling to feel bad about this

If true, not sure why we'll be forking out £10 million on a Tiote type player? Although from the past few years i've heard he's a good player, but not one that we need well we saw last season, tiote gets booked and misses games because of it, having an option in that role that isn't smith would be massive for us. also with our lack of forwards if erdinc signs I can see us playing the arsenal-ish type of 3 CMs 2 wingers very far forward and one out and out striker We can spend alot less on a backup DM than £10 million, I'd much rather see that go on a striker true, I would too fwiw. if we're considering barton our main right midfielder now then we've still really only got 2 good CMs in tiote and the, as yet unproven, cabaye. Strength there would be a big plus for us if there is anything in this erdinc rumour then we'd be looking alright with Ba and him as first choice and shola as back up, he is a decent 3rd choice striker to be fair and we can't do it all in one summer.

perhaps we're building a squad rather than replying on a paper thin first 11?

hope thats true, some of Jonas' best performances came when he had competition for his place last season til HBA got crocked
