His problem this season lies in the fact he's worried too much about the opposition and neutralising their threat instead of concentrating on playing to our strengths. Every pre-match interview talks about "the threat" from other players, and his lineups and formations aim to stop them playing instead of having a go and trying to actually win a game with some conviction.

Exactly. Krul was a big reason we were such a solid unit aswell, he's been unlucky with injuries this year. Makes a big difference for a defender if they have full faith in their keeper, sadly Elliott doesn't fill anyone with much confidence IMO.

I reckon Mbiwa will come good, the problem he's had is that he's walked into a defence that was lacking in confidence, cohesion, and most of all stability. A stark contrast to last season.
