  1. Danny Collins. Great performance by Pacino, a canny tale of redemption.
  2. If the Tories continue to asset strip at the rate they have been there'll be nothing left for the next few generations. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jul/09/young-people-george-osborne-chancellor-cuts-budget
  3. I agree on his status, which I posted earlier. Playing every week in the Premier League is a massive factor in international football, playing well and getting headlines makes it even better. This is summed up by Sissoko last season, he had a bit part season and didn't play well consistently but he played 34 of the 38 games last year. He missed 4 games through suspension, so he performed most weeks and subsequently was a regular for France. Called up to every squad, even though he had poor runs of form throughout the season. I can see Cabaye having a bigger influence on that Palace side than Sissoko will have for us. I hope I'm wrong like.
  4. If the Tories had extended the living wage commitment to anyone over the age of 18 then that would have been a total vote winner. That it's only limited to those over 25 will mean most people that could have been affected by the rise, won't be. Although a benefit is that 18-25 employment might see a rise, even if it's low paid. Ultimately the budget was more political than anything. There's no investment in anything and the usual giveaways to the well off and elderly. However, the people will lap it up. A national living wage is a step in the right direction and most people would agree with a higher threshold for inheritance tax. The real test of this Government won't necessarily be about how it deals with benefit claimants, but how (if) it has increased accessibility to (well paid) jobs so that people have the chance to cover what they're losing through work. Both unemployment figures coming down and wages rising across the board, not just for high earners, will determine whether this budget and their term has been a success. By 2020 the £9 living wage they project will be worth £5 due to current inflation.
  5. I reckon people have forgot how good he is because he's barely played in two seasons, he's probably just jumped at the chance of regular first team football and the team will revolve around him at Palace. He'll be looking at the Euro's next summer and trying to get back in that French team.
  6. Probably the best response Farage has had at the EU. Doing slightly better slating them than taking his own party forwards, maybe because he's on his own and not surrounded by blithering idiots. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=94UcyJnRcGU
  7. Shows you how much that move to Paris fucked his career. Imagine suggesting signing for Palace when his star had risen for us? He would have told you to fuck right off.
  8. Pretty much it to be fair. He just casts legitimate holes in policy aside like a true Tory robot, like the MP's in TV interviews who tow the party line like they've been programmed without any considerable thought. Prime example being the MP for Hexham and that inept cunt in charge of "The Northern Powerhouse", which isn't even taking the North into account. (Manchester? Fuck off). Osbourne couldn't run a bath. He just steals other ideas and elaborates to pass off as his own. Consistently making U-Turns and hoping the public forgets. It's a classic for this Tory government to go back on policies and making themselves look like indecisive idiots. How on earth did they get a majority? We even had Boris Johnson coming out today saying we shouldn't ban IS flags because it is a free country, since when did free countries allow Terrorism and support of Terrorism Boris? Another Tory clueless wanker. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jul/08/george-osborne-budget-stole-labours-election-promises-living-wage Tories on other forums have held their hands up and said the Conservatives have undermined the budget somewhat with the fact working families are being punished with the tax credits, especially new mothers. CT, please answer this though. What do you think of the TTIP? Not one Tory has answered me since last year on this. Not fucking ONE.
  9. CT, I struggle to comprehend how you're a working class taxi driver and you vote Tory? Do you not understand how politics works? Staggering. No-one in their right minds can be working class and vote Tory, the Tories don't even represent the middle class any more. Also, you present very poor arguments to very relevant points me and others on here put across. You don't seem to understand what you stand for. Like a parody account.
  10. Your right in that it is an independent pay review body but the government had the opportunity to bin it but they didn't. MP's also had the opportunity to take the pay rise or not, granted most people would accept a pay rise in their line of work but it is hypocritical to then put a pay cap into policy. The only reason you could put forward a case for this rise is it's supposed to be cost neutral. Apparently they have lost out on the expenses front and similar from their pension situation and got the money back with an increase in their basic pay. Seems like a good idea until you actually think about how their job gives them many opportunities to earn money as a spin off. They employ wives and girlfriends, sons and daughters as researchers and little helpers. They even groom their kids to take over in the next parish, if not their own. Just imagine getting a safe Labour seat at 25 years of age. You could be there 'till you were 90 with no pressure at all and that's based on today's life expectancies. It's not just pay that needs looking at, it's the whole package of entitlement, birthright and cronyism.
  11. While the budget was being laid out, TTIP was being passed in the European courts. I didn't see that on the news? https://edri.org/ttip-resolution-what-did-the-parliament-say-about-digital-rights/ Be afraid, be very afraid.
  12. The mad thing about UK politics is the fact that the house of commons, as seen today, is overloaded with overpaid MP's who are exempt from the ridiculous polices they fathom up. Like they live in a parallel utopia. A perfect example of this is the fact they have capped public sector pay rises to 4% over 4 years, at the same time they passed a bill to give themselves a 10-11% pay rise even though they are effectively public sector workers themselves. But we're all in this together remember.
  13. "The Living Wage" is bullshit spin. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/budget-2015-live-the-one-chart-that-shows-that-osbornes-living-wage-is-a-political-spin-10375281.html
  14. I've had a look. I don't share your optimism on corporation tax. One for the law of unintended consequences? By cutting UK corporation tax to 18%, the chancellor might have encouraged another round of tax-inversion bids, where multi-national companies (in reality US corporations) attempt to take over UK registered businesses and relocate their head offices to gain the benefit of lower tax rates. Pfizer made one such attempt when it bid for AstraZeneca before being rebuffed. But Neil Shah at Edison Investment Research, said: The Chancellor has raised the for sale sign over UK plc by reducing UK corporation tax to 18%, a full 2% below even the lowest of any advanced economy and crucially the lowest rate in Europe. Expect tax inversion-style led approaches for UK listed multinationals to come once again from the US with the dollar strengthening both against a troubled euro and boosted by the possibility of US interest rate hikes. The living wage will not rise in line of the cuts on tax credits so families will be worse off surely? Also the rise in the living wage will mean interest rates will be raised by the Bank Of England I'm sure.
  15. Out of general interest (I've been busy as fuck today so haven't seen the budget), please list your positives from the budget. The general consensus everywhere else is that it is the proverbial joke everyone predicted.
  16. Some of my family are in Lindos and apparently nothing has changed for anyone there, even taking card payments. The smaller islands won't feel the repercussions till at least the winter months due to the shear amount of tourism in the summer. So it is still very much party time.
  17. Did you not detect the sarcasm? It smacks of last season when she shipped out two defenders and brought no fucker in. Nonsensical.
  18. Not arsed about Sameobi being shipped out, apart from the goal at Spurs he has offered little of note to the first team. Opens up more room for a flurry of signings in the coming month.
  19. I once wanked 4 times in one day, I actually came within a whisker away from ripping my cock clean off. Probably the closest I've came to death.
