No, no. Once an Irish man becomes even vaguely accomplished as a sportsman he becomes "British".

That guy's had me in stiches. He thinks he's in the middle of a war zone in 'Outpost Crystal' when his biggest concern is appeals for clean underwear and a hit counter for his site. Has he noticed there's a real disaster area and flooding outside of his building with full heating and internet access?

I wasn't aware he was an alcoholic. 27262 From J69's point of view he may be. What's that cult you're in again J69? And no Niall Quinn is not an alcoholic as far as I'm aware.

Have a read of Blumenthal's article over on the Guardian web site, he claims a direct correlation between the level of damages caused and the war in Iraq.

Good pundit, sound bloke. But yeah, go on, let's beat him with that mistake for the rest of his life. Never made a mistake yourself I'm sure.
-
Anyway well chuffed we've got Nobby back, nice one!

deadline's passed lads has it not?

We were linked with him and I think most of us were praying it wouldn't happen. He was a very promising youngster at Everton, went to Rangers for about 6 million and has basically been plagued with injury ever since.
-
Yes, and what did he do? Pay his bill? No. He rang the Mirror.
-
So that'll be, never go back you lanky bastard.

The truth according to Sir Bobby is quite different. He reckoned that Nobby's legs had gone and he was getting a decent price. When he left I thought that SBR might have had a point, IMO he was no longer as much of a threat as he had been, wasn't beating a man, wasn't offering up as many assists, but have to say his Villa form has been a different gravy. (you know what they say though, you should never go back. Hope I'm wrong in that respect) 25218 And that opinion wasn't at all influenced by the whole club vs country debate? I liked a lot of things about Bobby but he put Newcastle in second place for Queen and Country when the FA came calling. But when one of the heathens was proud of their country he couldn't understand it. Nobby's form suffered because of how Bobby treated him. BTW some clever soul said 2 words the last time 'you should never go back' was brought up - Peter Beardsley.
-
Nobby's a fecking legend, I wouldn't care if he never played again, he was never supposed to leave and I just want him back. I honestly thought he'd become a coach here and couldn't believe when he left. What was it Maradonna called him? The little wizard?
-
Don't think he's got the character to be honest, when I watch him on the pitch. People do have changes drastic enough for him to be a success but they're very rare. I won't assasinate his character because he seems like a nice enough young lad (I may be believeing a little too much of Bobby's hype there though) and even if he has done some of the things he's been accused of doing it makes no odds, I've done some pretty stupid things in my youth and so have most of us I would expect.

That goal against Man U, that was nice until they started scoring against us for fun...

Mine 'completed' downloading after about 75 megs so I've got half of it, no idea why though, will try again now. That yousendit is slow as feck - 50K - grrr. Thanks by the way Sima, don't want to sound ungrateful.

Al Franken tells a cute anecdote about what a hell hound that woman is in 'Lies and the Lying Liars than tell them'. Well worth a read - funny bastard. He's not a fan of Ann Coulter apparently.

We'll probably end up with 8m on appearances and miss out on another 1m from European Qualification unless it's in the next 3 years or so, in which case, maybe. Makes Spurs' stock market announcement earlier seem a little underhanded now.
-
No. So Owen "cost" £16m. What do you think happens to the £8m for Jenas? 24855 Players are depreciated like other assets - its in the accounts FFS 25126 You'll have to start a little bit further back than that Rob, AF doesn't think assets should be taken into account at all from the sounds of things.
-
But in a situation like that if you need to free up the cash you take out a loan, paid back with the payments from your debtors. Of course you've got a slight problem if they default. All I'm saying is the real business consideration is the interest on the loan you have to take out to free up the cash. AF would undoubtedly poke holes in that strategy but us mere mortals will just have to battle on without him.

He says it about 3.30 into this clip: Michael Owen Press Conference 1, BBC

Correct, midnight CET, 11pm BST.
