I have to say 80, to say the upper class is dying in the long term is madness.
-
I'm really not mate. I just don't think we should expect more money to mean more sensitivity, plus you've taken up a point I was argiung with NJS. And my problem there is I feel he's having a go, with vitriol, at the upper classes in general. Which I find offensive and ironic. misconstruist!
-
You really think the state of one's bank balance should affect one's sensitivity? 34240 No...to explain, these people are the descendants of the founding fathers of empire. And empire was bad...mkay. For the spearchuckers etc etc that they were portraying. Thats where a heightened sensitivity to such things might be desirable. 34247 We live in a democracy, most or all of us on this board in the 'Occident', we run this world, and how we do it sickens me. I don't tend to blame the great grand children of imperialists. I tend to look a little closer to home.

I'm not a Catholic, I don't believe in original sin. You're making some massive assumptions and I think you've got a chip on your shoulder.

Well, if brevity is the soul of wit I guess that makes me pretty dim!

Don't see what it has to do with class. 34230 upper class=greatest beneficiaries from empire/colonialism 34231 You could argue completely the opposite mancy. The upper classes in countries that were never colonists still do quite well. You could in fact argue that thwe lower classes really benefit most. Look at the standard of living of the average American for example. What I'm really getting at with NJS's post was that his attitude sounds like an excuse to bitterly generalise. Maybe if we stopped slinging shit at each other we might actually learn something? Would it be ok for 'working class twats' to hold the same party?

Bet the Dad's an accountant. Probably trying to save on thread, sewing the name in to their clothing, and pen ink, writing their name down.

You were accusing me of being a rapist then weren't you? Sexist!
-
Well, that's me out of the committee. 34152 So that's a comitte, then? 34153 Or more likely a cmoittet in my case... 34162 Ancient African tribe of head-shrinkers and pedants?
-
Thats gotta hurt! tbh 34159 Now I don't know whether you mean obsessively eating electronics or it backing you up.

Just checked my electronic obsessive eating disorder, it backs up Mancy!
-
Obsessive eating disorder? Can't see how that's relevant.
-
I think it's the latter, although again both may be correct. 34141 I think we'll have to form a committee...

So Gol = UM (and possibly Craig) and Alex = Mr Foreskin? It's all very confusing, there should be a function or something, transparency mode.
-
Shouldn't that be name-dropping? 34118 name dropping tbh

I stand corrected, bloke who told me that quite recently isn't too reliable. I really want to learn a bit about wines now that I'm in France. Might save me when the revolution comes. People don't actually do that do they? The father of a friend of mine used to do it, thought he was just being a pillock. I can get Rose cheaper than diesel here (considerably cheaper lately), what exactly constitutes cheap?!
-
I find twice the recommended dosage usually does the trick.
-
Good old mockney rhyming slang, did he try to sell you a jellied eel?
-
Rose's actually made with black grapes though isn't it? Oh, it's all too confusing, I better be quite or I'll be accused of being grapist in a minute.
-
Not to mention they might have wanted to give the kids a break after what they did to the mother. I'm sick of blaming the media though, blame their customers. If it doesn't sell papers, they won't do it.

I can agree with what both of you have said above. I guess I was just massively more put off by the reaction than the actual incicent (plus the easy attack on a symbol when the whole party theme of Colonials and Slaves was a bit dodgy). We tend to notice when a future monarch should never behave in such a manner but never dream of realising the enormous pressure that puts on a kid. The way the media went after that family gets to me.
