1. Gemmill's going to love that! It's either something bred into you by society from a very early age or you see them as more obviously out of your gene pool so you don't like them. Probably a combination of the two. Alot of similarities with racism.
2. I honestly have no idea what point you're trying to make there. 49150 He's talking to choc or myself about the comparison made between a racist murder and a crime of passion. What if genocide in darkest Africa at a young age had convinced you that all black people were savages? That would be messed up, but can anyone kill for any reason without serious psychological problems (unless it's state sponsored of course)? I've known racists, but a racist murderer? There has to be a lot of hatred brewing fo that. Same goes for victims of adultery.
3. There's also an interesting point in whether they are wrong to do so. They're on a budget, they have to take short-cuts, make assumptions. If some of those are racial. Like a black man, aged 20-30 shot dead on this street is 40% likely to be involved in gangland activity, is that wrong? The whole system's fucked, it's difficult to point fingers. Anyway, I notice we've already managed to steer off the new topic.
4. I read that as commendable at first glance! I think that's how I feel about it. Being a racist murderer may be no more significant than being a liberal or conservative murderer. I'm not equating racism to political preference, before anyone starts.
5. That's an easy question, no they wouldn't. I wouldn't get too caught up in media hyseria, or what we should probably call social hysteria, it's a good topic but not the one at hand. If I brutally murder someone because they are black am I any worse than someone who brutally murders someone for sleeping with their wife? I'm not convinced.
6. It's not neccessarily ignorant not to want a daughter to go out with a black guy. I have friends who've had black partners and they've never had an easy time from either 'side'. Father's always want the best for their daughters, often irrationally, but that's perfectly rational. And I really have to question what you say about the working classes being the least racist
7. Would that have been any less disgusting had it been a white on white crime?
8. Is that because they aren't really as capable as their peers but got the job due to positive discrimination?
9. "Knowledge or information based on real occurrences" Dyer pace and movement has had a postive impact on the team when he has played for us, despite his lack of goal contributions, was he to be in the team at the moment the evidence suggests he would have a positive effect on the team. We have, therefore, missed him. Maybe we could also compare his contributions to the players that he might possibly have replaced? I haven't shot you in the face with this gun before, but evidence would suggest that the likely outcome would be death. You've also missed out on the tongue in cheek nature of 'FACT', I think. But then previous reactions to humour suggest that you have no sense of humour. FACT.
10. Positive discrimination is a tough one. You can see the argument for giving someone a leg up who's had a tougher time of it to even things out a bit in the long run. I'm thinking more about the US than the UK, where I'm not sure the problem is nearly as severe. But ultimately are you not just prolonging negative discrimination by 'unfairly' helping them? I don't think I'd do it in the UK.
11. For being a bully and a bigot, mainly.
12. I must have a read of that. I always give the bloke a hard time, especially about that, but I should really see what hew has to say about it.
13. Would it be mean if I said I was sun bathing all this week? It certainly would be if you had to imagine the state of me...
14. See, I knew it. If I'm looking at two people one of which is black and I want to point him out to someone, I'll say "the black one". That's not racist, that's descriptive. The idea of being 'colour blind' is quite distasteful I think. It has a negative connotation. As if to say "I don't mind that your black" Well why would you? Is it a bad thing to be black? The prejudice has to be removed from the victim and placed on the racist. 48904 Don't even bother, I've tried to explain it to him before, he just doesn't get it.
15. Happy Birthday, have a good one.
16. I wouldn't be surprised if Souness was the kind of character who'd be upset by the rumours that do the rounds about Ambrose. That might be grossly unfair but it's the kind of image Souness chooses to portray. I agree, quality player who we could have done with this season. Who on here wouldn't have rathered Clark and Ambrose in the middle than Faye and Clark?
17. In fairness, I've noticed Sammy has that effect on people.
18. I agree with a lot of your sentiments there. There's 2 questions that are worth asking, I think. When's the last time we played good football? And the stickler, is anyone really playing good football anymore? For what it's worth I'd trade points in our next league match for a better manager, I hope our summer signings (and I believe another 10m+ in January to replace Shearer) will have piqued the interest of some high quality managers.
19. Do you think that crossbar saved Souness' job? 48677 Judging by the look on Shepherd's face at 2-2, I'd say it's a distinct possibility. 48678 Yep, I was wondering if that was a little showmanship. He knows well the Sky cameras are on him. I have to wonder if trading those 2 points for a top manager would be worth it. I think the answer has to be 2 points yes, just not those 2 points! "hoorayanotherweekinthejobdance"
20. Do you think that crossbar saved Souness' job?
21. I remember sitting watching Chelsea and Liverpool fight it out for the final Champion's League spot the year we finished 3rd. That was the natural order before Abramovich walked in. If he walked away now Chelsea would crash, probably to complete extinction, although football clubs are rather more resilient than any other business I can think of. Your success hinges on one man, Newcastle are where they are because of the fans, we fill the second largest stadium in the Premiership whilst arguably flirting with relegation, I believe Chelsea are struggling to fill their inferior stadium. TV money, consortiums, merchandising, synergising with bloody casinos, ultimately it's all about the fans.
22. No we're not, and if I'm being belligerent I'd say we've more right to be top 4 than Chelsea.
23. You'll see a 403 forbidden, unless it's in your cache. Here: http://www.aveleyman.com/ActorsB/P00032413.HTML 48370 So it's a hot linking thing? That's a pain in the arse.
