You're ignoring the business side of the football business there, the industry itself isn't really about football, he's a good business man, and that should not be underestimated. Really the only thing a chairman needs to know about football is which manager to hire and when to fire. I think if he had a football savvy chief executive they could be the best pair in the premiership.

Yeah, agree that he shouldn't have put it like that, I hate it when anyone is that sure about anything, unless it's that people reading film books are homosexuals, that's beyond doubt. Trying to bring things back on topic - myself and my brother watched a film one night that has to be a contender called 'Dead Innocent', I think the only thing that saves it is that we couldn't stop laughing it was so bad. The one problem with not having Sky Movies is never getting to see anything that bad any more.

True, and only slightly better than poetry.

What's wrong with Kermode? One of the only critics who knows what he's talking about and isn't a pretentious arse about it. That book looks like it might be worth a look. Must email it as a present suggestion for Christmas. HF - You've got to accept that most people aren't that into movies and as such it's possible to create a technical masterpiece which could be regarded by most as 'the worst movie ever made', and they wouldn't be wrong.

That film was the definitive 'aimed at the masses' movie and they shouldn't have to (and don't) appreciate the technical side of the movie to enjoy it but by the same token plenty of people (mainly girlfriends and their suffering boyfriends?) enjoyed it and DiCaprio dies, so it can't be all bad! If we're talking Cameron, Pearl Harbour was much worse.

Gervais owes his career to Karl Pilkington tbh. A few of the conversations on Extras are taken straight from things he said on their xfm show. You should email that article in to them, they've been done like Pilkington!

Despite danger, daring, despicable, duplicitous despot dutifully deepens disparagingly desperate deadly dapper dandy diving "Disco Diva" Dyer's despair, decidedly dashing delinquent Dutchman's dribbler Dyer's downright dirty, devious dreams. Daft December deadline disaster due directly! declared dainty dresser, Dickie Davis, dying dandily.

You still reckon Elliott is the answer?

Off to Arsenal for 12 million next month. FACT!

Diatribe? Disagree!

I couldn't stand the tv series, and I've never heard the radio stuff, really enjoyed the first 3 books though, immensely. The last 2 were just a step too far. I'd recommend giving it a go, the book's as much about aliens as 'Gulliver's Travels' is about little people.

Get it out and judge for yourself, but imo I'd rather rub my balls with a cheese grater for a couple of hours then sit through that shit again. Just out of interest how old are you Renton? 66950[/snapback] I'm trying to figure out if that could be a euphemism for something even more sordid. I wasn't much of a fan of the Fisher King but it's a long time since I saw it, didn't even know it was Gilliam until just now. I quite enjoyed Brazil but then I tend to watch a movie after a bit of a smoke and I'm not exactly Barry Norman at that point. I really enjoyed 'Fear and Loathing' but obviously it's not a patch on the book. When you put Red Dwarf and Douglas Adams in the same category are you referring to the book or the recent and rather poor Hollywood translation? If it's the former I may have to put a pox on your very soul!

Well I thought you were being rather the angry young man in this thread but I don't see why I should take any credit for that. If you look at what I said in context it really had very little to do with you. I was having a bit of banter with Mags and she (obviously joking, though you never know with those crazy Yanks!) suggested shooting immigrants, I said we should shoot ALL foreigners and you were really only mentioned because you "kind of suggested" the same thing (a complete eradicaton of the human race).

Isn't it naphtha anyway?!

Typical, the Europeans invent a new(?) sport and the Aussies are already trying to beat us!

Jesus that was awful, I was just flicking through the movie channels and I think I lasted about half an hour before I realised there was no possibility that it could be any good. The 'word play' between Affleck and Lopez was excruciating. Not a Gilliam fan then? EDIT: It's really bothering me that there is some small amount of my memory wasted on the correct pronunciation of that film name.
-
Comedy is your forte, not mine, the pubescent rage is splitting my sides, so please don't stop that.
-
Have a word with yourself man, see how I even said 'ALL foreigners' to make it really obvious what I was getting at, and how I was taking the piss in that entire post? Why would I paint you a racist exactly?
-
Threatened to roll over him tbh.

How was that Brazilian that got shot 'playing with fire'? Getting a train or living in London? Or maybe being dark-skinned?

I always thought that whole story was to bump up the share price. There really is no evidence against that. Hasn't Freddie been 'keeping the powder dry' for a crisis exactly like the one we are currently facing? The net spend has been pretty low for a few years so when the right player came along to replace Shearer we pounced. From the business side I think he's got it spot on. The casino looks like it will go ahead and that film was a shrewd move. He seems pretty conservative to me, I don't think he's takiung too many risks.
