Looking at the snow-capped Pyrenees at the moment, not helping.

That's more like it, I didn't have you down as a Borstal boy, for some reason. You would imagine that sort of thing is more likely to fuck up a life than solve any problems, for what seems like reasonably ordinary boyhood mischief. I'm mostly just playing devil's advocate, although I do believe some of these more controversial ideas would work better than what we've got. I don't see the point in getting involved in debate to point out how right you are and how wrong everyone else is, it's not like we're actually going to change anything on an internet forum (or anywhere else for that matter).

It's sitting on my shelf, does that count? 108343 No. 108344 Intellectual snobbery tbh.

I'm guessing that if hoaxers stopped to consider the repercussions of their actions they wouldn't do it in the first place. If they're considering that lives could be lost due to their actions but at least they won't be affected then I'd happily advocate a bullet in the head, to be honest. I don't feel too comfortable with punishing people purely on the basis of us getting our pound of flesh. It's a real shame what happened to your mate, must have been a repeat offender, did it do any good? I reckon Crime & Punishment is something we should get seriously philosophical about.

Is justice about crime prevention or exacting revenge, though? If putting him away serves no preventative purpose then it's blatantly vengeance and nothing more.

I'd say I'd probably agree with you if I could be arsed to have an opinion today, I was half joking, half serious tbh.

He worked at the club too like so maybe that was why. [half joking, half serious]Should have got a minute's silence too, more worthy than some I could mention (Ken Bigley, Princess Margaret etc.) [/half joking, half serious] 108325 Fully serious, no balls?

Nah, I'm hooked now, whatever about letting the image get to me before trying it, it's definitely not going to get to me after. I think I'll try and get 3/4 more days up there before the end of the month and do skiing for one day, the girlfriend really wants to give it a go, and it's an idea to try it before splashing out on the gear for two people (we're just renting at the moment). Surprised Rob hasn't been in yet to tell us how he invented snowboarding accidentally one day while doing some extreme ironing, tripped and the rest is history. Shame about your back, no chance you could take it up again?

Judging by the text update I got a couple of nights ago, I wouldn't rule it out... Has anyone anywhere ever learned anything academically useful on a school exchange? 108306 Oxymoron?

Brave man. I've had too many mates injure themselves on them, more than one dislocated knee (if that's the right term), I think it's common because the knee gets caught in the holes when you fall and the rest of you keeps moving; sounds lovely. I found getting up when on my back impossible, but when I was on my front it was easy to get onto my knees and then push myself up. So I just flipped over first when I was on my back, not exactly graceful, but it worked.

Seriously? I would always have associated that skater-dude thing with snowboarding, I know a few people who are quite put off by that image, I just thought it would be silly to let it get in the way of something that looked like good craic! I'm assuming by the fact that you sound like you really miss it, and have done quite a bit of it, that the attraction doesn't wear thin quickly. Have you tried skiing, at all?
-
Been wanting to try it for a long time, finally went up for a day on Saturday; fantastic. I'm already hooked, but a bit pissed off I've left it so late in the season (the closest place closes the end of March). The only thing I'm not liking is the kerraaaziness associated with it; when we arrived I was greeted with the sight of a lad wearing a jesters hat, doesn't get any worse than that, I thought, until his mate came into view, wearing a snorkel... In fairness, there was hundreds up there and only a hand-full of those twats (really not sorry if anyone of similar ilk reads this btw ) So has anyone been? Does the thrill wear off quickly, is skiing better?

Howay man, he'd just got us back in the game and you're basically having a go at him for celebrating the goal. 108263 Are you arguing with yourself?

Dangerous precedent to set over there. 106551 Which one? The banning of morons, or the attempted humour? 106602 I had meant the former, but quite possibly the latter also.

Answer the phone with a funny accent, keep saying "no comprende", utter random phrases until they hang up. Repeat until bored.
-
I can just imagine your financial reports littered with phrases like that. Isn't that about 50% of the people old enough to vote? I thought the figure was fairly similar in most western countries.

He's their goalie, shirley? 107636 I couldn't say the first thing that came into my head when I saw Gemmill's question.

Half the voters; the human half. EDIT: Although I think his popularity is at an all time low, below 30% of what, 280 million people?

Sorensen?

If your phone's disappeared in the morning, you know what happened.

Most obnoxious customer service personnel I've ever spoken to, can I borrow yours?

Think that one's in Liverpool, nothing glorified about it, though.
