He's also picked them up very well after 4 straight defeats. As regards weak only beating weak opposition - Spurs & Bolton certainly aren't. But the game against Chelsea was woeful. We played badly against a shite, nervous Chelsea and basically couldn't create a chance. Roeder was outfoxed(?) by a coach who's not nearly as tactically savvy as people give him credit for.

I find it hard to believe that not one person interviewed cast any aspersions on him becoming manager. I hate to say it but, expectations lowered; too many people seem to be using Souness as the bench-mark. I'm very happy with what Roeder's done since he came in, but I have serious doubts that he's good enough to break Newcastle back into the top 4 and perform consistently in the Champion's League. Having said that, it's all relative and we could do a lot worse.
