One of many things that struck me about the article, happy not to question the findings of him being significantly more mature, but the one negative aspect of the report being diminished because he was 17, not 18 when the evaluation took place? These figures are arbitrary at the best of times but the glaring irony there is hard to miss. Generally I think the debate is more credible than the article. It's such an extreme event that would knock the most ardent believer of any paradigm. Well, it should, if it doesn't I'd be slightly worried.

You may believe that, but I don't. We live in a society where we should all have a right to be involved in these things, it's just a shame that so many have forgone their right in exchange for blissful ignorance. If it's much more than that I wouldn't be too happy. I'm worried by the prospect of paying any more than 10m for Defoe and if we're going to offload Luque for 2m we'll surely get that at Christmas no matter how badly he does, or he might come good and save us 5/10m quid.

I'd still be willing to give him a chance until Christmas, although I think his chances are less than 50/50 of making it; but if an option of him plus 5m for Defoe came along I'd hope the club took it.

I think Carr's quality going forward, links up well with Nobby when he can; but he scares me defensively, players go past him too easily. Still gets a shocking amount of abuse, but that's probably true for any of our players who aren't exceptional. I'm looking to see him get a run of games after a good pre-season, which I don't think he's really gotten since he signed.

That was my first though, too. It specifies "unusual amounts" later in the article. Is there any possibility at all that these tests have gotten so stringent that it's no longer drugs they;re picking up, but unusual bio-chemical activity? I'm guessing no.

In fairness, the only person I knew who went to Africa for that reason fits ewerk's description perfectly.
