The almost daily "Distraction From The Boardroom Shit-Housery" thread
adios replied to The Fish's topic in Newcastle Forum
Been waiting for a funny post from you. -
Leazes was right about everything. How's he doing these days?
-
The "I confidently predict we will either get relegated" is but sometimes bad news makes us go off the deep end for a few hours/days. Or maybe KCG is just off his meds.
-
Well quote some of the context then!
-
Gloom saying he "wouldn't rule out a relegation battle" seems unreasonable to you?
-
That's that settled then. Apologies to CSD for being so ignorant of the facts.
-
Those arguments are far too fancy for csd. It's like dining with a shit-flinging ape having a debate with him.
-
And I've tried to steer clear of any jargon.
-
Ah ok, so that is interesting. Anything that has an element of risk is a gamble?
-
He gambled on the future price of HBOS. ie an investment. Just because he decided not to use the futures market for whatever reason doesn't change that fact. I like the idea that he decided to roll the dice with what I believe was about 25% of his net worth at the time.

The Fish will see us through the darkness.
-
OK let me break down your argument as simply as I can. Losing: If a bluechip company acquires a start up that fails, does it then become a gamble? Gambling: Why do casinos never go broke? They do nothing but gamble.
-
I also think Ashley has a plan to advance the team beyond mid table. But I should probably see someone about that.
-
Unfortunately that's about the size of it
-
Someone said Carver has one point from four matches. It's worth pointing out that he couldn't have got any points from the Leicester match. There were signs in a couple of those matches that he'd get them playing better football that Pardew. The team played better football than Pardew's team. I don't think he's very good, but I think he's good enough not to get relegated.
-
Agree with this. Probably not a popular opinion, but Ashley's Newcastle have moved forward in some ways.
-
Literally one word you think you understand. If I 'bet' that apple is going to gain over the next month on good information, do you understand how that is not gambling as we are discussing it?
-
You're a simpleton. You have no concept of what you're talking about and you're too ignorant to even know how ignorant you are. Not many things I will call someone on, but I've got you here.
-
And the fact that he lost money means it was a bet? Jesus wept you are thick. Any business venture that ever lost money was gambling.
-
So if he'd done exactly the same thing through the futures market, that would not be a bet? You're entire argument hangs on the word 'bet'. If we're assuming that gambling means negative expected value transactions, then a spread bet is not necessarily gambling at all.
-
You're talking about something I know a lot about. As do several members of this forum. You're currently making yourself look very silly, I'm letting you know that now. Maybe I should do as some on this site and go on about how wrong you are for the rest of eternity.

He bet on the future price of a stock. How exactly would that be different from him investing in any publicly traded company?
