Ferguson is more lightweight and they'd look to bully him. I'd throw him on when they're tiring a bit. Fair point he could be a good impact sub. I still think he will cause them more problems than Barton, Guthrie or the 3-5-2 Simpson runs would, allowing Barton to go central midfield. And as for getting bullied, I dont really see how it would matter. Fine they might push him around a bit, doesnt stop him running behind when Enrique puts in a ball. Or if they focus on him, that will allow Enrique more space. Its not like he is going to play central midfield and get Karl Henry kicking him all game.

How would you do it tho, put guthrie out there to smother the opponents with his huge abs and ferocious tackling?

Seen similar behaviour from Manchester before. They had apparently been watching Mame Biram Diouf for some time. Then he scores a hat-trick in Norway and they sign him a week later before he is hyped up. Would be nice to have that sort of attitude toward players wouldnt it. They dont really need him, yet they just buy him before he gets expensive and can loan him out to blackburn etc until he comes good.

I never understand why teams let out news about injuries at all if they can help it. Surely its for the better if the opposition hasnt got a clue what team is fielded. No matter how little importance said player has in the team.

Not too long since I finished watching this. Was at work so had to rewind my paid-for-stream when i got back. I thought from the start it looked like a match where both left wings would rape the other teams right wings. Enrique seemed a bit reluctant to go forward and then he had to go off. I suspect he might have been touch-and-go before the match. Anyway, their left wing rapists were the far better. I dont know what Simpson was doing on right midfield, and Saylor just seemed to let Arteta do whatever he wanted. Arteta was great today and the main reason Everton were so good. Our strikers consistently show they cannot score on almost anything other than a tap in (yes I know theres been exceptions). The way I felt Shola was so much better when he got on actuallly managing to keep the ball and get a finish off with one defender on him shows how sad our striking situation is. As someone said I'd be happy with Leon Best as 4th striker, he does put the shift in. Him and Ranger on the bench is for me not a problem next season. We just need to Get preferably 2 main strikers. There wasnt much wrong with the effort, we just werent any good. Tiote can dominate possesion as much as he wants, we just need more quality players. And we better have got a 2m loan fee for Routledge or something, we could desperately use him. Anyway, its been a long time since I thought we got a lot more than we deserved. If we give a team this much room we should be letting in alot more than 2 goals.
