There was a few games last year where we bossed possession but found scoring/creating a problem. I hope this is just teething problems.

I'm not knocking it at all, it's just of no interest to me. I'll tolerate watching the odd bit other sports but the Olympics just doesn't do it. Maybe it's just for people who think saying 'mint' is acceptable? (I know some of the world cups/euros have been poor but even the poor ones have some redeeming bits in them).

Not a big fan of watching any sport other than football, although loved playing most sports as a kid it never translated into being a spectator.

I chipped in to help pay for these flags and am in the corner so am obviously hoping it looks good, (but again, really just want some atmosphere which the flags may or may not help with). Being a longstanding supporter of this club makes me actually fear this game. Why? All the positivity, the Rafa feel good factor, large away support, new signings, on the box, first game of the season. It's all there to go tits up and leave us with egg on our faces. I remember going to Everton in 1988 for my first away trip in a similar positive mood and us getting wopped 4-0. Also remember playing big spending Leeds at home a year later on the opening day expecting a beating and seeing a big away support from Yorkshire take the piss at a disillusioned home crowd only to see Mickey Quinn do the piss taking instead. Wouldn't be surprised if the result isn't amazing, maybe a tight win at best but like Leeds going on to win the league. Not being a pessimist, just being a Newcastle United fan with memories of too many kicks in the knackers.

They should throw the Knight Ryder, Wraith and True Geordie in a cell for a week with only one mobile phone, one Greggs pastie a day and one sharp axe.

The last friendly I remember going to was juventus in the 90s followed by Hartlepool away. There's a reason for that. Friendlies are shit.
