  1. I think he was genuinely astonished no one mentioned Everton, funny how he defended the clubs support by saying they had 3200 fans outside of Alkmaar's ground who couldn't get in If any Mag on here said Everton then I'd expect the next post to be from the Irish lad from the Everest advert saying, "Now be honest, you didn't expect to be seeing that, did you?".
  2. I went to a good few aways that season and it wasn't until then that I actually saw us win, think it was in April too! Remember the jimmy smiths black & white army going on for ages. Also, did anyone remember going to Ewood Park a year later, early in the season it was, it was a truly shit game when in the 90th minute O'Brien scored the only goal of the game and 5,000 Mags started chanting the tune to 'Toms Diner' by Suzanne Vega. Never heard us do it before this game or after it! I wasnt at that one but I was the one the year after, felt dangerously full 7000 in at least, KK first away game Speedie got a hattrick, and he gave us the v's after one of his goals, cos 7000 voices all sang we've all shagged ya wife Speedie, Speedie. Aye, I remember mags surging to get at the little cunt after he gloated in front of us, he got the stick for attempting to kick Tommy Wrights head off which lead to their first goal and also for just being David Speedie. He wasn't too impressed with the 'shagged your wife' song. Judging by the look on his face I often wondered if his kids looked like their dad or if they looked like Speedie, instead!

  4. It's not very PC to say but a huge ingredient in any decent atmosphere is aggression and hatred. That doesn't have to manifest in violence but it's still necessary imo. Like I said before Goodison is arguably the most aggresive, hate-filled ground in the league. Tom knows, it's fucking primeval at times. I sat in with the Everton fans in the mid nineties when I couldn't get a ticket in our end, it was where the away fans are put now. there was a lot of apathy in the air, a lot of empty blue seats and the only primeval thing I saw was the fucking pie I ate. (to be fair, the blue Scousers knew we were Geordies and were good craic).
  5. Funny how whenever we went away you'd read the opposition players/managers asking their crowd to be up for it as there'd be a large, vocal Geordie following coming down to their place. How many times has the reverse happened? Also, think of all the famous games in our past where there were thousands, (and I'm talking over 7,000 as a starter, up to almost 20,000 on one occasion), who traveled to away games which weren't even semi-finals but in some cases just 2nd division games or early round cup ties. When you've had a think about that, then try and think of all the games since you've been going of every single game at St. James' where an away side brought huge numbers, thats not just one club, but every club who've came here in your time following NUFC. It wouldn't even be a close thing. P.S. To our Blue guest, I've only once in my time of going to games, (1983), seen you bring a big-ish support up, (about 4,000 in the mid eighties). Now you may have taken millions to loads of other games, I'm just talking about games up here. (Isn't it rather funny/sad when old successful clubs like Everton, Villa, Citeh, Spurs and yes, NUFC as well, have so little to shout about we bang on about size/attendances!) Yours, the sad/funny, Howmanheyman
  6. You have won the grand sum of 3 more trophies than us - are you one of those who sing "You've never won fuck all"? Learn some history. You haven't won a trophy since, what, 1958ish, that's the excellent progress of a big club. Have you ever had a period where you've dominated English football? Yes we have dominated in the past. Just like you once did, in the past. Difference is my Scouse friend, we've stayed more loyal than most when the hard times come round, if you're comfortable with your fans efforts in similar circumstances then good for you, I'm more than ready to defend our supporters, who are the only big thing about the club according to fans of other clubs when accusing us of not being a big club, then the same mongs accuse our support of being shite in the next breath. Which is it? It's quite clear this lad is no older than 21, part of the Talksport generation. I was speaking to a blue dipper in London last time I was down, and he said he'd not missed a home game since 1977, and the best away support he'd ever seen was the toon in 1988, opening day when we lost 4-0. There was 45,000 in the ground, 10,000 toon fans* he said 4-0 down you would think it was us who were winning. I love the argument that we have a bigger ground so we get bigger crowds, when they can't even fucking sell out their little stadium against Man Utd There was only 35,000 there on Saturday. Other clubs use it too. My first away game. I took my Irish cousin who naturally supported Liverpool along to it as he was over, it didn't surprise me but he was gobsmacked, literally as well as metaphorically, a stray arm hit him whilst surging on down to the Blaydon Races. *Was more 7000-8000 I reckon.

  9. Norwich took 8,000 to an European away, as did Ipswich, it's no great shakes taking big numbers to your first significant European away in over a decade (which is what Villarreal was for you), we had 12,000 in Antwerp iirc in 94, when we hadn't been in iirc. You didn't have 5,000 in Alkmaar you had 1,800 that's all they give away teams. When Everton bring more than 1,500 here, I will rate them, they're no where near the top 10 supports in the UK imo, there's sides outside the Prem with better supporters imo. The atmosphere at Goodison is largely shit, I've felt more intimidated at Blackburn. Fuckin Everton No sense of reality. Ask anyone not from Merseyside how they rate your support. In my short time on this forum I've quickly learned that your completey clueless and absolutely deluded. I didn't say we had 5,000 in Alkmaars ground I said we has 5,000 in Alkmaar. You don't need a ticket for a euro piss up. And as for the atmopshere at Goodison, it's poor against the poorer teams that we expect a result off. Which is why it is poor when we play you. In absolute tears at a Newcastle fan saying we've got no sense of reality. Irony-meter overload. Speak to anybody outside of Newcastle on your support, you're a laughing stock. Most people outside of Newcastle buy into the (wholly inaccurate) Sky Sports News notion that all toon fans are deluded tbh. Jesus wept is that how you lot explain why everybody says you're deluded? You have far too many fans that think you're a big club because you're lucky enough to have decent sized stadium. That is why everybody says your support is cringworthy at times, and they're spot on. Do me a favour, mate and just fuck off! I've got time for Everton, because I feel like they're a proper old club with none of the day trippers your pals across the road are lumbered with. If you don't feel as though NUFC are also a big club then you're the one who has a seriously deluded point of view.
  10. The 'didn't win the championship' for 26 years line is also a bit galling too tbh. Firstly it has them down as some sort of divine righters for the league, and secondly it gets wrongly interpreted as though they didnt win anything for 26 years. When you averaged it out, they picked up a trophy every four years or so in those intervening years (European Cups, FA Cups, League Cups, Cup Winners Cups) so it was never really any hardship following them at all. When they went down they came straight back up. Theres at least three generations of Man U fan now that have only ever known regular trophy success so you have to factor that in whichever way you look at it. That and the obvious media arse licking thats gone on for the last 50 years and you have to say generally speaking it's a pretty easy ride. Agree with most of that, One daft cunt on the radio said there was 'light at the end of the tunnel' when they were about to win their first league title since the sixties. Fuck me! they'd only just won the Cup-Winners-cup and FA cup the year before!! Yes they have a decent song list on the face of it but delve a bit deeper and how many are rip offs from other parts of the country altered by one of the tourists? They actually think the 'Cheer up' song was started by them, the Blaydon Races version they sing is a fucking joke the United road song is too, their songs have even worse lyrics than fucking 2unlimited!
  11. I should have a decent memory of this year as it was the last season I went to games without drinking, (for the vast majority of it, any way). I remember this year more for the away games as this was the first season I started going away on a regular basis, me and my pals from school, we were 15-16 would have a great laugh getting up to all kinds then go into school on monday smiling to ourselves as other kids would describe how they'd watched 'Going Live' or went into HMV and bought some records whilst we'd be running about different towns by ourselves as the proper grown up supporters were in the bars. At the time we'd either go on Magpie travel with the club or go with Value travel a small travel agent on Shields Road in Byker. Value travel also had a shop in south shields and much to our annoyance we'd pick up in shields road before heading down past Wallsend to go through the Tyne Tunnel to pick up the Mackems from the South Shields branch, (they fucking hated us calling them that but we were cheeky little cunts back then who'd always grab the back seats first and wait for the moaning mackems to get on and make threatening comments about what would happen if we were on them in the next away game). Also in this season we always seemed to be away and in the same part of the country at the same time as the smoggies were and quite often met at the same service stations by accident, you could feel the tension in the shops as the two groups of fans, (especially us kids) were nicking all the bars of chocolate, crisps, pop and just about anything else we could get our hands on whilst glaring at each other. Think I had my first ever drink at an away game at a bar in Hemel Hemspted for Watford away, One of our mates who was two years older got the drinks with myself who could just about get away with it and the lot of us had about three pints before the game and we were buzzing off our tits, drinking on enemy territory with older Mags, brilliant. One kid, (we'll call him 'Robbo', decided to swagger over to two 'Watford' kids on their own and with his three pints in his bloodstream and staring at them asked, "where's your fucking ground, like?", to which they replied, "Ah divvent knaa, we're lost too!", the fucking dopey cunt! I'll get back to this thread later as this was a great season for me with a shitty, shitty end, unfortunately.
  12. Not quite the same, but I once saw a pissed father of the bride give a speech where he told everyone he'd now seen his third daughter married and all of his son-in-laws weren't "worth a fucking light", then sat down with a scowl. There was a fight not long after.
  13. Great comeback, I'm fucking devastated. That isn't the full comeback. If you want the rest you need to go wipe it off your wifes chin. Dream on virgin boy, dream on.
  14. A bunch of chinless wonders bending their knees along to the music whilst waving union jacks make you proud to be British? Why don't they just jump up and down for Christs sake? They can't even do this without making it look upper class. Fucking hell!
  15. Kevin, let the big boys talk about their football club, (not yours), without spoiling the thread by being an utter mong with as much chance of getting his leg over as Simon Weston has of getting the L'Oreal gig. I won't reply to you again in this thread.
  16. Last word on Kev in the style of his choosing.....
  17. Sorry, Kevin, I don't do bickering with mongs, post after boring post like you and the Skidmark.
  18. What about 'KingGAYo' as his name? I get the feeling that would really make his day to go with his Everton crest. Way to kill a thread, howmanheyman. I suppose I'll take that as a compliment from you, Kevin. You're getting better, Kevin. Well done.
