"Newcastle target Jason Roberts has admitted he may have to leave Blackburn in search of regular first team football. Rovers boss Sam Allardyce revealed earlier this week he would be willing to listen to offers for Roberts, despite the fact he is facing a shortage of attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Roberts has now admitted he could make a move before the transfer window closes, with Newcastle boss Chris Hughton linked with a move to bring the striker to St James' Park. "I've had four good years at Blackburn and been part of some good sides and played in Europe a few times and really enjoyed it," Roberts told skysports.com. "Sometimes you come to the end of a cycle at a club and maybe it's time for me to move on to a club with maybe some different ideas about where they are going. "It was a good season last year to finish inside the top ten. I scored five goals in 15 starts and ended the season strongly. "I know there's some interest from several clubs so hopefully something will come about and if not I'm still hungry to play." It is thought Blackburn would be willing to allow the 32-year-old to move on for a fee of around £2million, although West Brom and QPR have been linked and Hughton may face a battle to secure a deal."

What gets me, is that this bloke wants away from Marseille, we need creativity and flair in the middle of the park, and he's fairly cheap compared to what he was valued at 2 years ago. Now it looks like he is on his way out, and as much as I hope he comes to us, its unlikely CH will and will keep denying it. Oh...but btw we'd rather pay 1.5 mil for Jason 'ffs' Roberts. 32 years old. So confused by it all. There are tons and tons of players out there that we can afford, attract and are good enough for the prem. Look at Man Utd's new signing Bebe, wheres he from? never heard of him. Other teams look to fresh, new, unheard of players to bolster their squads. And when will we FINALLY realise thats the future of this club and start doing it?
-
Come on CH, you can do it!!!! Go find him and get him up north
-
So even if the deal is done sunday/monday, he could still play then
-
Whats the latest that we can register him to play on monday? Saturday, Sunday evening?
-
Would imagine if there was any inquiry at all, and Ben Arfa wants a Toon move, then it will happen. Fair play to him too, because if the deal WAS there before the France game, he has every right to lose his rag, when he could of been playing against Man Utd on monday.

If you noticed when we played Rangers, Jonas was coming across to the right a fair bit, so that both himself and Wayne we're working the ball together. Could CH play Ben Arfa (if he signs) on the left, Wayne on the right, and Jonas behind the striker? This way he could move to both the right and left and double up with either winger. Just a thought. Wayne has to be at RM though no doubt, the difference he brought when he came in January was massive.

This is gonna be my first premier league away day. Noticed that the away games I went to last season, everyone stood for 90 mins. That gonna be the same at old trafford or made to sit? Cheers
-
Apparently he is now likely to sign for us on loan with option of buying. Marseille can't stengthen until he's out. But has a bad rep for been a little shit. Great player, def want him at at James, but hoping the scouse monk will give him a clip if he starts to play up.

haha bunch of numptys -
This is hilarious. This prat is rattling us for our signings, yet they've just take Titus Bumble?? Sol Campbell - x-England CB, at Arsenal last season. Titus Bumble - F#CK UP of a CB How does it feel you sad mackem b#stard to have a taste of our leftovers? huh? haha dickhead. Am sure Mackems had a laugh at us when Titus was making mistake after mistake for us. Know who's got the last laugh
-
Rubbish. Look at his track record, and it shows that even though he has played very few games for Everton, he is more efficient than any of our central midfielders. Smith for example, its about time we said goodbye tbh. Hard worker, but provides f#ck all for us other than throwing himself into challenges. Nolan scored loads in the championship, but does that make him a contender for a position in the prem? One of the laziest players i've seen in our CM, looked lost at times in the championship. Guthie is getting better, a lot to learn though. And we're still to see Mr Barton hit proper form without injury.

Had a team talk from him before and he's shite. Not really much to say, and repeats himself!!

Report in l'equipe this morning. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2010/...du-maillot.html My french is a little sketchy, but shall give it a whirl. "Avant de repenser aux Bleus, l'ancien Lyonnais «doit d'abord (se) concentrer sur (son) avenir en club». Annoncé partant pour Newcastle ou le Werder Brême, le natif de Clamart dit «ne pas faire attention à ce qui est dit et écrit dans les médias sur le mercato». «Ça ne m'intéresse pas. Ceux qui balancent des pistes tous les jours sont souvent des girouettes, ceux qui te célèbrent pour tes prestations puis te descendent trois jours après.»" Ça ne m'intéresse pas - Fairly sure this means it does not interest me. So: "Before rethinking to the Blue ones, the of lyons old "has first (itself) to concentrate on (his) future in club". Leaving announced for Newcastle or the Werder Brême, the native one of said Clamart "not to pay attention to which is said and written in the media on the mercato". "That does not interest me. Those that balance tracks everyday are often vanes, those that celebrate you for your benefits then descend you three days after.""

how much you want for them?

Happy with this deal tbh. We need more quality in central midfield. So am I. Cost Everton 1.5 mil when he was 18. Think once he's fit, he'll walk into the starting 11XI alongside Barton or Guthrie. From what i've read, a box to box midfielder which is what we need. Gosling: 22 appearances, 4 goals for Everton. Guthrie: 62 appearances, 6 goals for Newcastle (Prem and CC) Nolan: 55 appearances, 17 goals for Newcastle (Prem and CC) Barton: 47 appearances, 3 goals for Newcastle (Prem and CC) Smith: 71 appearances, no goals for Newcastle In comparison, looks promising Think this is going to be a really good signing for us

10th. Very optimistic. But with a good sense of togetherness from what the players are saying, along with a few decent signings and CH's tactics (expecting him to play 4-5-1 against stronger teams, more attacking at fortress SJP). Best feeling about the changing room atmosphere we've had since Sir Bobby days?
-
A link for this? Personally don't think this will happen. There was 'gossip' a while back about this happening but nothing since. Think its another one of those many transfer stories flying around
-
Already signed on 4 year deal at £25,000 a week. Out for 3 months but a great piece of 'business' CH. Fantastic signing!!! Getting very excited about the new season :-D

Watched Premier League World on Sky Sports the other day and it was based on NUFC. Not sure of his name, but the bloke who does the Newcastle poems was on it, and this was one of them (I think if I remember rightly): "We are Newcastle United, Don't listen to what some might say, We are Newcastle United, And United we shall stay." This would be AMAZING for a new song in the stands, any chance of pushing it out there? Like the idea? Dislike?
-
Can anyone help me please. Looking at traveling to the Deportivo friendly, any advice on quickest way of getting there at a fairly low cost? Don't fancy 6-7 hour train journey from Madrid tbh
-
Football Aid. Played at SJP with them last month and was amazing experience!
-
Doesn't take the magic away, makes it more special. Played there beginning of the month, and was best day ever!!

Not too keen on the home kit and the blue kit, quite like the white one though. I'm hoping the kits have embroidered club badge, cos am not paying what the club shop charges for shirts for bits of plastic ironed on. will look cheap and nasty
