With some of the Newcastle squad still on the training pitch preparing for tomorrow's game with Sheffield Wednesday, Ashley and Derek Llambias left the helicopter and walked towards the office block at the Magpies Darsley Park complex for discussions with some of the senior players. Ashley was sporting his trademark open neck white shirt and was chatting with Llambias as they made their way past some of the Newcastle players and went into the club's office complex. The helicopter left shortly after 1pm with Ashley onboard but Llambias remained at the training ground for further talks. Tellingly, the pair's arrival on Tyneside comes a day before their home clash in the Championship and suggests important developments could be afoot.

I thougt Reading’s back 4 were quite good yesterday, it took some class play to get at them. Reading’s midfield was totally outclassed by some great ‘carpet football’ – about time we tried it. The ‘English Defence League’ (EDL) and a group calling itself the ‘Casuals United’ (CU) are fascists who provoke local residents. They’ve caused rioting in Luton before Birmingham where they attacked at least one local Muslim man and several businesses — balaclava wearing thugs. They staged an overtly racist riot. Bottles, sticks and banners were thrown as police in riot gear struggled to stop the skirmishes in Birmingham. In all, 35 people were arrested - mainly for disorder. Police knew both demonstrations were planned and let them go ahead as a sign of 'a healthy democracy'.
