True. You can throw facts around but he has been playing absolutely dreadful this season. If you'd never seen him play before you'd think he was 4th tier player. Thats not to say he is finished of course. Most players have a dreadful patch.

He offers nothing to the team at the moment. The amount of times he was overlapped yesterday and didnt help Santon was crinimal - if you're saying he is in the team to give us defensive cover/workrate. And where has his powerful trademark runs gone? You could guarantee a couple of excellent runs down the wing which brought a foul in the opposition and this relieved a bit of pressure.

To be fair, if we play shit in the first half then good in the second then Pardew normally gets a pat on the back for a good teamtalk. Works both ways. However, I suspect the players thought the game was won and psychologically took their foot off the pedal. Its quite difficult to get the intensity back after this happens.
