1. www.nufc.co.uk NEWCASTLE United defenders Steven Taylor and Peter Ramage will be taking questions from YOU at a Shearer's Bar talk-in on Thursday, October 26. It's your chance to speak to two of the club's brightest prospects, a pair of Geordies living the dream of wearing their beloved black and white stripes. Taylor is a cornerstone of the England U21 defence and has quickly become a fans favourite at Gallowgate, while the versatile Ramage has impressed onlookers with his play-anywhere mentality. The talk-in starts at 7.30pm and will run until 9pm, but the entertainment won't stop there as there will be prize giveaways throughout the evening, including signed Magpie memorabilia. Entry for the evening is FREE, and you can get your tickets now simply by popping into Shearer's Bar. Remember, you must be 18 or over to attend on the night and hurry, as tickets are strictly limited and available on a first come, first served basis. YOU can make it a night to remember by winning one of five pairs of VIP tickets for the evening, which will include food on the night plus the chance to have your picture taken with our defensive duo. All you have to do is send us a question you'd like to have answered by either Peter or Steven. Email it to website@nufc.co.uk and if it's chosen as one to be read out on the night, you'll win a pair of VIP tickets for yourself and a guest. Don't forget to include your name and contact telephone number on the email. Joining Peter and Steven at the talk-in will be Metro & Magic 1152 duo Pete Graves and former Toon skipper Mick Martin.
2. ...at shearer's bar next Thursday night. Good chance to ask them why they can't defend.
3. Link Michael Owen today told Newcastle United: "I'm here as long as you want me." The Newcastle United star could still miss the entire campaign this season as he recovers from the horror knee injury sustained at the World Cup in the summer. Last term United fans' biggest fear was that Owen may quit the club in search of Champions League football if he shone in Germany, having made a comeback from a broken foot. Instead, Owen ruptured knee ligaments and has twice travelled over the Atlantic for treatment by US surgeon Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado. But speaking at Wallsend Boys Club's annual dinner in Newcastle, Owen said: "I've had five weeks since my final operation and that means I might be back in six or seven months if everything goes fine. "I could play again this season which would be nice. "In terms of how long I stay at Newcastle, I'm here as long as everybody wants me. "I had four years on my contract when I signed last year, so I would say at least that length of time and then you'd have to ask the chairman for the rest." Despite his injury, the words of Owen will be a boost to United supporters who are desperate to see him back in a black-and-white shirt after watching the England man make just 10 starts since arriving from Real Madrid for a club record £17m. Owen has bagged seven goals in that time, and after spending 14 months in Newcastle the striker admits he has adjusted well to life on Tyneside after his stint with Real Madrid. He added: "I do really enjoy Newcastle as a place. I have got two children here and they go to school here and they love it. "Any parent knows if your children are happy, then you are happy. "That is one of the main things. "In terms of myself, I get out a little bit around Newcastle with a few of the lads occasionally. "It is a lovely place and a lovely area and I have settled in really well. "I am enjoying it here, and even though I have only played 10 or so games, when I have played it has been good. I have scored seven and we picked up a lot of points along the way." However, despite Owen's form when fit, the 80-times capped England ace has suffered a horrendous time with injuries, leaving the Cheshire-born star somewhat disgruntled. Owen first shattered his foot, breaking his metatarsal against Tottenham on the final day of 2005 after a collision with keeper Paul Robinson, and after an absence of five months, he then fell awkwardly in England's game against Sweden in the World Cup to sideline him again for the foreseeable future. He continued: "I hadn't had an operation in my life before I came to Newcastle and then I end up having four in a year. "It is unbelievable, but this is definitely the last. "I have never been injured for this length of time so hopefully this is only a blip and I'll be back."
4. Smogs losing at home to Notts county
5. We've looked decent at the back, they've created little exept the goal. We're too deep, as 2j says, we need to push up and bring zog on. they're comfortable as it is but if we attack them some nerves could show
6. 3-0 down after 40 mins Won 4-3
7. I've got a link, it costs 2 quid apparently. Can I post it on here?
8. Glenn Roeder has revealed he was interested in bringing West Ham's Argentinian star Carlos Tevez to St James' Park. But instead Tevez and his fellow Argentinian Javier Mascherano will make their first Premiership starts for the Hammers against United tomorrow at Upton Park. Before leaving for London and a game against his former club, Roeder told me today: "Tevez was one of the players who impressed me in the World Cup and I made a discreet inquiry about him. "It was no more than one telephone call, but I was told that we had absolutely no chance of getting him and I did not pursue my inquiry any further. "That's why I was surprised when I found out that Alan Pardew had signed both Tevez and Mascherano from Corinthians." There is a lot of talk in football that Pardew had little say in the signing of the two Argentinian superstars, but the West Ham supporters are understandably absolutely delighted. But, perhaps rather ominously Tevez, has thrown his first rant on the eve of tomorrow's game after complaining to West Ham officials that the apartment they have found for him in London is not big enough. United's Antoine Sibierski isn't quite in the same class as Tevez as a player, but there will be no such reaction from the Frenchman when he discovers he is on the bench at Upton Park despite scoring the winner in Thursday's UEFA Cup win over Levadia in Tallinn. Roeder added: "If Shola Ameobi passes a fitness test then Sibierski will be on our bench tomorrow, but he will accept this in the right manner. "For we have signed someone who lives his life like a professional footballer should. "He is very serious about the game and everything he does smacks of professionalism. "And I know that if he gets his opportunities here he will play a big part for us this season. "He has a deft touch and an eye not only for a goal, but for a goal-making pass." If Sibierski's attitude is spot on, the same cannot be said about Charles N'Zogbia, who had the proverbial pet lip on when Roeder substituted him in the second half on Thursday afternoon. It was noticeable there wasn't the usual handshake between player and manager when he came off. For me, N'Zogbia is probably the best young player in the North East today, but he has got to show just how hungry he is to go even further, starting tomorrow when first he has to fight off a challenge from a fired-up James Milner to play on the opposite flank to Damien Duff. United still have Titus Bramble and Steven Taylor struggling because of their respective knee and foot injuries. But the good news is that while Olivier Bernard is still a couple of weeks away from being match fit, Celestine Babayaro is ready to return at left-back after being out since he damaged his hamstring at Aston Villa. 9. No, it isn't. It's at West Ham. 191262 Is West Ham at home was the question... Yes it is at west ham's home was my response.... 191265 Is the West Ham match at home Yes it is No it isn't. You decide. You weren't asked if it was at West Ham's home, you were asked if the West Ham match was at home. Meh, I know you were probably looking for a bite, well you've got it. You spanner
10. I like the Butt/Parker partnership, Emre seems incapable of playing against quality opposition without constantly losing the ball; we may also be forced to play with 3 in the middle a lot this season. If any of those 3 are injured, who are we left with? 187366 Solano Milner Dyer Emre Parker Butt N Zogbia Duff Pattison O Brien Excellent on the wings. If any of Parker, Emre, Butt etc get injured then Zoggy can cover. You never know, Dyer might play more than 5 games this season
11. Hunty just went on a trial to Plymouth, he's back now.
12. Can't fault our keeper department. Our midfield is good enough at this present moment in time. We need 4 players RB, LB, CB and striker to even consider top 6.
13. With our defence we'll struggle to make top half.
14. RAFA DISMISSES WOODGATE LINK Steve Hunter 25 August 2006 Rafael Benitez has dimissed speculation linking him with a move for Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate. Friday morning newspapers were linking the Liverpool boss with a swoop for the former Leeds United centre half but Benitez insists the rumours are wide of the mark. "We are not talking with Woodgate," commented Benitez. "It is a rumour and the first I heard of it was in the newspapers. There is no interest in this player. "It is true we have injuries to defenders. Carra is injured and can't play for England. It's not a serious injury and he could be back for the Merseyside derby. "Riise and Warnock are out for 10 to 15 days and Gabriel Paletta is injured after he had a kick on his knee." Link
