  1. Quotes in tomorrows Telegraph Didier Deschamps has revealed he would relish the "exciting" test of reviving Newcastle's fortunes after he swept ahead of Mark Hughes and fellow Frenchman Gerard Houllier to emerge as the front-runner in the race to be the club's next manager. "I have had no official approach from Newcastle but I am flattered to be linked with such speculation," Deschamps told The Daily Telegraph. "It would be an exciting challenge. Newcastle are a big club." The odds on Deschamps, 39, taking the helm at St James' Park plunged from 80-1 to 2-1 although suggestions the former Monaco and Juventus manager was already flying to Tyneside for talks with Newcastle's billionaire owner, Mike Ashley, were wide of the mark. Deschamps, who captained France to their 1998 World Cup final victory over Brazil, was sacked by Juventus last May, then turned down the Manchester City job later taken by Sven-Goran Eriksson. Should he succeed the sacked Sam Allardyce it would mark a return to English football eight years after he helped Chelsea win the FA Cup. As well as having led Monaco to the 2004 Champions League final and guided Juventus to promotion from Serie B, Deschamps also fits the criteria set down by Newcastle chairman Chris Mort in that he can speak English. Mort effectively ruled out an audacious move for Jose Mourinho. "We are not currently a Champions League team, and in six seasons out of the last 10 we have finished in the bottom half of the Premier League," Mort said. "That means we are not necessarily going to interest a manager already at a team playing Champions League football or whose only ambition is to manage a top team in, say, Spain or Italy." advertisement The French Football Federation played down suggestions that Houllier, the organisation's technical director, was heading for Newcastle. Houllier, 60, is being tipped to form a managerial team with former Newcastle captain Alan Shearer, 37, who entered the fray at Newcastle Airport on his return from Barbados. Asked about the opening, Shearer said: "Am I wanting it? One day, hopefully." As for linking up with Kevin Keegan, he added: "I haven't spoken to Kevin for a long time."
  2. Go on then. You at the match tomorrow night? Thing is mate, you can say what you like about my personal life from last year. But, in the past year i've probably had the best year of my life. As well as that i'm on target for a top grade in my Masters Degree in Mathematics and I already have a job interview lined up for a big company. I'll remember to chuck you a fiver when I see you looking for pennies at Haymarket though.
  3. NSG hasn't broken a forum rule. Agree or disagree?
  4. By who I only apologize when I'm sorry myself like, not as an act of arse-licking. I apologised because it was a decent lad who wanted me to, who made a couple of valid points to me. Pathetic. Can we ban him from here too? Tell you what, start a thread. If the majority want me banned then i'll more than readily de-activate my account.

  6. Oh, and thinking i'm in with the "in crowd"? Would that be the likes of Dave and Wullie? No thanks And begging to go back? I only made that apology because I was asked to via PM.
  7. Who the fuck are yee like?
  8. It's better than talking about favourite fuckin films and what ye listening to now. I mean who really gives a fuck about who's listening to what? 5,000 replies - oh dear. Nick has a genuine grievance, and he's entitled to defend himself. The person who came across as a brilliant bloke on Newcastle Online, genuine, honest, and very, very knowledgable about the toon, was Toon's Taylor. He's from Gateshead as well . One bloke I would've genuinely liked to share a pint with. There's other people who came across well on there, a few in particular who sadly conformed towards the end. HAHAHAHAHAHA that was fuckin brilliant that day. Bright fecking green monster on his jacket :icon_lol: :nufc: Quote the wrong post?

  10. Voted for you as best writer as well. I'll include you in my acceptance speech. About time I did another article. I'm torn between the state of the club and Smog's ban. Just put it's a direct correlation between both.
  11. Jesus man, all you do is slag the place off and tell us how shit you think it is..... So why are you bothered you're banned?? Surely they're doing you a favour? Why was Stevie so desperate to use the site too? If its that shit, why bother going through the mental effort of working out Nick's login? Mental effort? Using the same password he uses for another site? Hardly Gordon Kaye's Krypton Factor is it? The reason I wanted to use the site is, if you ignore the draconian admin and the many, many wanks and cliques, there are some really good posters on there, the likes of kingdawson still get away with cheek too.
  12. Calm down fuzzy little man peach. You're on Toontastic now, you don't need to go back there Just checked now, still banned
  13. Alright, tbh I've acted a bit rashly on here and said some immature things which I sincerely apologise for. It was bang out of line. Apologies especially to Dave and Wullie in particular. However, I still don't understand why I was banned as I did nothing wrong. I think they need to look at themselves and act like men. Accept my apology, and also accept they were in the wrong by banning me, and duly remove the ban.
  14. I'll bargain with them. My exams end a week on Thursday, ban me till then and then let me back on. Hold on, this isn't one of those wind-ups where you ask to be banned during your exams and the admin come up with a creative way of doing it, is it? This is a serious question btw. I know how these guys operate. No it isn't a wind up mate. I've genuinely done nowt wrong.

  16. well how about that!! the above post has vanished from N-O I deleted it and locked the thread, and I explained why. I can't be fucked with the same old mundane, childish bickering that plagued the forums a year or two back; so if you have a problem with something or if you want to flounce in the most spectacularly drastic manner imaginable, just do it via PM or do it somewhere else. Serious question here, but don't all mods have the power to lock topics, delete posts and un/ban people? Andy is only a mod though not an admin. He'd got too much decency about him to be a full blown admin.

  18. Banned, for lending his username to Mary Magdaline for a Crystal Palace forum and she sneakily used it to browse NO.

  20. Not quite. It was within 12 months, I think. Aye, he'd have to win the waffa to get in the super cup D'oh. At this moment in time i'd time 5 trophies in 50 years. So this lad isn't a bad bet IMO
  21. Certainly not me The only lad to nominate me for an award was flipping Jamie.
  22. Interesting, well-measured and brilliantly considered response. Thanks. The post you quoted was of course "banter," just so you're aware. I don't mind NSG, in fact I think he's quite amusing sometimes. That doesn't change the fact that I think his reaction to this has been a bit daft, like, but still... My reaction is totally independent to the reason for why I was "banned", and therefore the ban should be removed. Agreed? If you want my honest opinion on the ban -- and that's all I can give you since I can't unban you -- then, yes I think it's a tad harsh, but yes, I can also understand why it was handed out. And YES, I am going to continue sitting on the fence Good lad.
  23. Didn't he win 5 trophies in one season? Charity Shield, League Cup, FA Cup, Uefa Cup and Super Cup?
