Agreed, I think this should be Keegan's priority, it would be a great statement of intent for both parties. Biggest piece of business to do this summer IMO.

Should we have this thread every week? http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=18902

Could do with work on his crossing like, because it does seem like he just dinks it and hopes for the best...some of his passes are quality though. And I love his standard "pro evo" run once a game, where he just does the pro evo dummy shot and tries to waltz around the whole team.

NEWCASTLE United will be without midfielder Emre for up to two weeks after the Turkish midfielder injured his ankle playing for the Magpies reserves on Monday. The 27-year-old scored a fine solo goal before withdrawn at half-time during the second-string's 1-1 draw with Man United at St.James' Park. And, while it had been hoped Emre would return to the squad for Saturday's clash with Reading, boss Kevin Keegan told Newcastle World TV on Friday that he will be without the services of the former Inter ace for at least a fortnight. "Unfortunately Emre has injured his ankle playing for the reserves," explained KK. "He'll be out for about two weeks which is a shame because he could have been in the squad for Reading." hmmmmm

If we're sticking with the 4-3-3 he's not the type of player we should be looking at IMO. If, longterm, we intend to revert back to 4-4-2, then he'd be a quality addition.

England coach Fabio Capello believes it might be easier for his players to learn Italian than him to speak English. (The Sun) Accrington Stanley are to change their name to Lancashire Stanley United from next season. (Accrington club website) Hartlepool have unveiled a new centenary kit for next season - in black-and-white hoops [the colours of local rivals Darlington]. (Hartlepool club website) Bury manager Alan Knill, 43, has registered himself as a player for their relegation run-in. (Bury club website) Luton mascot Harry the Hatter has been kidnapped on the way to Debenhams, while Oldham's Chaddy the Owl has had his costume stolen. (Luton and Oldham club websites) Plymouth have unveiled a tartan away kit for next season, paying homage to manager Paul Sturrock and the other Scots on the playing staff. (Plymouth club website) Port Vale are to move to a new £35m stadium named after chairman Bill Bratt, across the road from their current Vale Park home. (Port Vale club website) Wycombe midfielder Sergio Torres is to record an album of folk songs. (Wycombe club website) Preston are to pay tribute to their 1957/58 team by commissioning some "Invincible Gold"-coloured seats [suspiciously similar in colour to the tangerine of rivals Blackpool]. (Preston club website) Oxford United will hold a Rodeo Day competition as the bronze ox statue outside their ground has been fitted with a "bucking bronco" setting. Making guest appearances at the event will be Billy Ray Cyrus, Billy Boy Walton, Billy Ray Reardon and Roy Walker. (Oxford club website). Brighton's tired players have been training at theme park Chessington World of Adventures for three days this week, riding rollercoasters to rejuvenate their weary limbs. (Brighton club website). Northampton could be deducted points after a complaint was lodged over the colour of socks they wore in a recent game. Boss Stuart Gray expects to hear something "before noon today". (Northampton club website) Burnley plan to ground-share with arch-rivals Blackburn at Ewood Park in 2010/11 while Turf Moor is redeveloped. (Burnley club website) Lincoln City are proposing to switch the kick-offs of matches from Saturday at 1500 to Monday at 1000, to reduce their carbon footprint. (Lincoln club website)

These fans who leave early. ??? Well, you said they were winning which implied the game was still going on when you left. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously btw. Ahh, get you now Ok, Blyth won 2-0, and so I departed the stadium -
Not even a single player in the starting XI of team of the week. Good old Garth.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/shared/spl/hi...tml/ss_team.stm

Agreed he's not at the level of James, but he's better than Carson, Kirkland and Green etc...

Been the second best English keeper in the league this season for me, behind David James. Made some quality saves again today and IMO he really deserves a chance. Would be an utter disgrace if Given walked straight back into the side when fit, when it should be Harpers shirt to lose.
-
Nah, he was left out the squad.

Lifted off 606: Three places are available across Europe-one is automatic and two by random lot. The automatic place is given to the country with the best disciplinary record (currently England-amazingly) and the other 2 randomly selected amongst other countries. Newcastle are 5th in the Premier League Fair Play table- behind 3 teams that are probably going to qualify for Europe through the league- Man Utd, Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham (Carling Cup Winners). Provided they can stay ahead of Man City in the disciplinary table, by my reckoning they have a very real chance of qualifying for Europe. The season's not over yet, every cloud has a silver lining..."

Let's just call that our "consolidation" season after last year's promotion Seriously, with Malcolm and Pincer gone, there's no-one in the league that we should be scared of now. Got to be looking for a good start, two or three early wins and we'll be in with a shout.
