  1. Newcastle United have firmed up their interest in Michael Johnson by lodging a bid for the Manchester City midfielder, skysports.com understands. Joe Kinnear and Newcastle's hierarchy are huge fans of the England Under-21 international, who appears ready to leave Eastlands. Skysports.com understands that Johnson is very much open to the idea heading to the North East and Newcastle are hopeful they can conclude a deal before the 5pm deadline. City value Johnson highly, but Newcastle are believed to be offering around £8million and they are confident that will be enough for City to sell. Johnson only agreed a new five-year deal in September, but Mark Hughes seemingly has other ideas for his first team and Newcastle are ready to pounce. The likes of Aston Villa, Liverpool and Everton have all shown an interest in the past, but Newcastle look set to pull off a big coup if they can finalise the move in the next few hours.
  2. Arshavin to Arsenal looks to have collapsed over personal terms
  3. Journal reckons we're after Gomis, Ebondo and Veloso today. Sounds a bit like guesswork like
  4. He also put he expects us to have some 'big news for the yellow ticker' later.
  5. Wouldn't mind someone like him, supposedly highly rated and would provide decent cover for Enrique. Leaves 8m(??) from Given and 6m from Zoggy in the kitty. As long as that gets spent, i'd be happy with this deal.
  6. Coventry LB, 1.3mill bid made apparently.
  7. TBH all that matters now is who we bring in tomorrow.
  8. Get a grip Ant, he's left us in the fucking lurch, had a European giant came in with a bid we couldn't refuse then he would go with my blessing and thanks but he's bottled it, factotum. aye he's bottled it clearly not upto the relegation scrap, .... not like he's been in one every year for the last few lol catch a grip, he left us because were a fucking joke and the inside runnings of the club most be even worse than we imagine Why couldn't he have waited till the summer then? City would still have needed a keeper then.
  9. Get a grip Ant, he's left us in the fucking lurch, had a European giant came in with a bid we couldn't refuse then he would go with my blessing and thanks but he's bottled it, factotum. 100% agree I hope the few extra quid he'll get at City makes him happy. I wouldn't have begrudged him a summer move at all, but he's walked out on us after feeding us with all that 'loves the club' crap. No more a legend in my eyes.
  10. +1 oh is there any news on the city site of a fee or player coming the other way? Undisclosed fee.
  11. Goodbye Given. Thank you for 11 years great service, for which I am very appreciative, but also you can fuck off for leaving us mid season when we need you the most.
  12. NEWCASTLE have failed in a beat-the-deadline bid for Liverpool’s Sami Hyypia. But manager Joe Kinnear last night admitted interest in midfielder Miguel Veloso and striker Luis Garcia as he counts down to the close of the transfer window. Kinnear moved for veteran Finnish defender Hyypia on Friday in the hope of landing him on a two-year deal. But Reds boss Rafa Benitez blocked the move, insisting Hyypia could yet play a significant part in his side’s bid for silverware on three fronts. And it is uncertain whether Hyypia himself, with a testimonial and a possible coaching role in the offing at Anfield, would have been keen on the switch. Although 35, Hyypia was seen by Kinnear as the perfect player to organise a Newcastle back four lacking a talker. “I just think we need somebody experienced in there,” said Kinnear. “We’ve got some decent players but it’s a communication thing.” Newcastle have already had a loan enquiry for Veloso knocked back, and while Bolton boss Gary Megson last night bowed out of the race for the £12 million-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder, Kinnear called him “a realistic target”. Amid talk of United swapping left-back Jose Enrique for Garcia, Kinnear also admitted he has spoken to the Atletico Madrid striker’s agent. But, as things stand, the only Toon transfers looking certain to go through before tomorrow’s deadline are the sale of Shay Given to Manchester City and the part-exchange deal in which Wigan will give Newcastle around £6 million and utility man Ryan Taylor for Charles N’Zogbia.
  13. They can bid all they like but there's more chance of Roy Keane signing for us than Robbie Keane. The fact that his bezzie Irish mate is fucking off from us will tell him all he needs to know. Also, we're shit and he's not. I still think we need an attacking midfielder with a bit of pace, and hopefully Martins will be back next week.
  14. Surely he'll get a start at WBA with Spiderman suspended.
  15. Someone on Newcastle Online posted it, presume it was on ssn or summit
  16. Megson's apparently said Veloso isn't going to Bolton because he's agreed a deal with another premiership club.
  17. JFK said in his press conference that we have deals for 2 more players in the pipeline. Taylor and hopefully one of Donadel or Veloso please
  18. prob won't but that aside would you want to stay at the club the way it is now after being there so long? i wouldn't :/ lads been loyal, and our club is a total and utter shambles currently and it hardly looks like getting better mightn't be the most ambitious move going to city, but they will be a damm sight more competitive than were going to be for the foreseeable future I support Newcastle not players/managers/owners. He's had 10+ years on great money and he's left us in the shite. I know it's a minority view but I don't hope everything's rosey for him somewhere else. it's a minority view for a reason, we've had very few loyal players like shay over the last while and the amount of soap opera those few have had for fuck all return lately is unreal. Granted i agree with ya about him going to city, tbh i'd have liked to have seen him at arsenal for some reason City won't really win anything, but they're trying buy players, good ones and progress... were selling our good ones and bringing in the likes of nolan from teams constantly floating around the relegation zone. Why would anyone who is an international star and rated to be one of the best in their position want to stay at our club when they see they see the likes of Xisco and these other virtual unknowns coming in, let alone loan signings who are fcking injured. Man City would have come back in for him in the summer. Fact of the matter is he's fucking off because things aren't all rosy. I wouldn't begrudge him a summer move at all, but he's fucking off when we need him most. Loyalty, my arse.
  19. Beeb ticker saying we've given Given permission to talk to City.
  20. Confirmed on the BWFC site, 4 and a half year contract.
  21. The mackem slag is reporting we want 5mill plus Taylor for him. I'd snap their hands off for that.
  22. I beat you to it, but i'll post in your thread May as well just sell the cunt and put the money towards a Veloso bid
