  1. Honestly think he’s a good to very good PL player. The stats don’t lie. There’s a couple of aspects to his game which prevent him from being absolutely top notch but his goal involvement and work rate make him one of our most important players. Fucking delighted for him

  2. I think it’s a bit mental to be upset about coasting through the second half given practically everyone who follows us and has a bit of nouse thinks our squad is on the thin side. If we’d scored another 5 in the second half (unlikely) we’d only be 1 goal better off than Chelsea. Or half a point, if you think of it like that. Much better to play it safe in a match that’s already wrapped up and save the players for the remaining 8 games.

  5. Palace might be the hardest game of the run in. It was last season (we should’ve twatted Man Utd too tbf) If we win both our next home games v those same teams by the time we get to Chelsea it could be all over bar the shouting…not sure if there’s been too many champions league places decided by goal difference over the years but looking forward to be proved wrong by some smart arse in front of a screen with too much time on their hands

  6. When we finished fourth we should've finished 3rd, when we lost the final we should've won it, both to the same team who we were better than that season but we didn't truly believe in ourselves and weak as the squad seems at the minute, it is still better than then, crucially as a club, players and manager aren't shying away from mentioning the CL whenever it's brought up as the realisation is we should be aiming for it and sometimes it's best to set these goals. We've got some tough games but so have the rest, win the next two then match the rest over the remaining games and it's ours, we won't win them all but neither will they.

  7. I don’t mind it. They won the game in the first half then took their foot off the gas in the second half, with an eye on tougher assignments ahead. The GD will look after itself if we keep winning games

  11. couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. similar story to miggy a few years back in that they've both enjoyed the season of their lives for us despite their limitations. again a hat tip to howe for coaching players who fans had previously written to play at their highest level for him. i'm sure RW will be upgraded in the summer but murphy probably has more to his overall game than miggy and i'm sure he will continue to be an important squad player.

  14. Brilliant player, made a huge difference to the entire team. But as we said last week, he’s a fuckin cunt. You don’t need to know anything more that about why he’s a bit iffy about us. I couldn’t give a fuck if he kisses our arses on the TV tbh. He’s a fuckin narcissist and as such will never, ever make it as a manager to any great extent…

  15. Murphy is playing at the same level he was at last season. Only difference is he's being used consistently. I wouldn't be surprised if the RW brought in is seen as a long term replacement rather than an immediate upgrade. 20+ goal contributions so far and we aren't finished the season yet. I reckon someone like Dibling from Southampton will be the kind of player we look at rather than an immediate starter.

  16. As is often the case with players at his level, he benefits from those around him - playing alongside Isak, Tonali, Bruno & Joelinton undoubtedly draws out the best in him. I think he links up well with Tripps too.

  17. Murph still proving his value. Club website has him on 11 goals 12 assists for the season.

  19. Agreed. I think at RW especially we need to be looking at a long term project player with immense potential. Basically Minteh v.2. As for Murphy, he has done enough to retain his place in the side ahead of whoever we sign at RW. At least initially. His chemistry with Isak is incredible. His gameplan is simple and effective. He executes it very very well with early balls, intelligent movement and hardwork off the ball. For me, he seems a very intelligent and humble person and this seems to provide the platform for him to stick to his gameplan. And it works well with the overall team gameplan. We're in an era where so many wingers won't take on their opponent for fear of losing possession. Murphy isn't that, thank god. And Howe doesn't have a possession first mindset. As a priorirty, he wants his wingers to use the ball not keep the ball. Murphy fits that mould perfectly. Gordon too. Their greatest strength is that they don't fear losing possession. A lot of the credit for that goes to Howe. But also teammates and the individuals themselves deserve a lot of credit for knowing the gameplan and performing their roles within it to facilitate wingers with balls.

  20. Surely we could raid the championship clubs for their best talent? I'm hearing rumours there's £50m rated young players down there already at one particular club but it could be hard to prise them away because why would they want to leave?

  21. Mental how close we are to doing that mind, that's about 3-4 players and you arguably could be in a title race if the signings work out. We may yet finish 3rd this season on top of the cup having signed nobody for nigh on 2 years while the clubs around us have apparently landed themselves in serious PSR difficulties getting here. Eddie fucking Howe

  23. He looks like he’s either a) gripping Trump’s nob firmly, but tenderly or b) checking his manicure. Trump should introduce a 100% tariff on blatant paedos and this bloke will be on the next plane to wherever Gary glitter went.

  26. I think Jacobs form is a lot different to Miggys purple patch where he just scored worldies for 8 games. The improvement in Murphy feels more like the improvement in Big Joe following Eddies coaching. I see RW as a slightly lower priority now for the summer, they might go in for a younger cheaper understudy to develop (as Minteh seemed to be). Highest priority for the Summer has got to be cover for Isak and CB

  27. I'd say it would be comfortably the best season of our lifetime. Honestly, if we finished 6th, hard to argue it's not the best season of our lives, even though it would bizarrely feel a bit disappointing.

  32. The top and bottom of it is that outside of Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Botman, Livramento, Hall, Gordon, and Isak, we will need to upgrade the rest of the first team to get to where we want to be. And we'll need to fill out the squad with quality too so we can play a genuine squad game. I love Murphy and I hope he's got another couple of seasons in him at the club, but if he's still in the starting lineup every week next season, then either PSR is kicking our arses again or we've ballsed the transfer window.
