We’re going to Wembley tomorrow with Geoffrey who one or two of you may also have met. He was born in 1958, making him 67 this year. He was brought up in a tower block in Gateshead. His dad grew up with Lawrie McMenamy and they were such good friends that LM happens to be be Geoffrey’s godfather. Geoffrey’s mother was a typical North East matriarch figure, but she’d forgotten more about NUFC than than every poster on here combined has ever known. His dad took him to all the Fairs Cup games in 1969. He has attended all other NUFC Wembley occasions since then: 1 . FA cup 1974 2. League cup 1976 3. Charity shield 1996 4. FA cup 1998 5. FA cup 1999 6. FA cup semi 2000 7. Carabao cup 2023 This post started out as a bit of a tribute to him but looking at that trail of utter misery it’s obvious that the cunt is a fuckin Jonah and am sat right beside the fucker 😩9 points

Looks like we might be without Bruno for the final now too. Unreal.9 points

I've cracked. I'm on the plane at 07:00 tomorrow to fly back and watch the game with family in the Geordie Riviera Couldn't bear the thought of suffering through it alone. At least I'll have a good couple of days. Heading back Tuesday so I can attend the victory parade Monday Nice 03:30 start6 points

Wifey and D1 getting the coach to London. This is Wetherby services I think. Howay!5 points

I’ll be getting quite drunk to celebrate any win and praying that the sheer jubilation of lifting a cup will help override the depressive effects of the alcohol. This is a foolproof plan5 points

In the interest of balance, I can’t shake the feeling that we’re going to get shafted by the officials5 points

I hate how for some reason the positivity has gone up over the last few days Players making right noises, the displays from wor flags and Sela, most neutrals saying they'd like Newcastle to win etc. Bastards the lot of them5 points

I know a mate who's got a ticket tomorrow and barely been the last few years, can't say I think it's a disgrace as I'd put serious money that he's more right to be there than a fair chunk of those around him. It's his first final, I've never been to one. Bitter? Fucking right, more so in the 90s. Pray we end this barren run, it's about time something falls our way because it just hasn't in the past and that has to change eventually, why not against the devil's own cup final team? It would be the ultimate irony. Fucking howay the lads.4 points

But they've already done Beni away in the pre-season, marra. Took over the bars and everything whilst other tourists, bar owners and bouncers looked on in awe applauding in sheer admiration, gerrin!!!4 points

Had a chat with a bunch of lads on the way down for the game at 6:30am at Ferrybridge services. They all seemed pretty confident and strangely sober. I remember going down to Cardiff for the game against Newton Heath and we were spackared before we passed Thirsk4 points

This is just the kind of crap that will have Joelinton sent off after 5 minutes4 points

I give sky some stick but that Brazilian lass gets no complaints here, not only a little cutie but a lovely sing song voice. Also helps she doesn't seem to have any preconceived ideas on who's who in the sky eco system. (Bruno's lass needs to keep an eye on el capitano iyam)4 points

I was living in Newcastle when we won the Fairs cup The 70's I was in Liverpool for 2 losses 90's I was living in London and at the 2 losses Man U defeat I was in Brighton I'm back in the NorthEast for this one Nuff said3 points

They never stop banging on about their hatred of Coventry but aye, it’s Coventry who are small time 😂3 points

Fuck me, it'll tip them over the edge if we were to pull off a win tomorrow, the Coventry loss would be a diarrhoea sauce to go on a league cup shit sarnie for them.3 points

Some ex-pat bloke (now in WA) who collects match worn shirts asking about the 'denim' blue 3rd strip from 97. He then spectacularly failed to understand the forum and in the process became rather upset whilst unsuccessfully trying to return serve and eventually retiring hurt.3 points

I’ll be fucking furious of that happens. If we put a performance in, and lose to these, fair enough- they’re where they are in the league for a reason. But if we don’t even turn I’ll be well fucked off. I have a feeling we will surprise them, tbh.3 points

If Joelinton told you to turn up for training the day after a game, would you argue with him?3 points

Carra at anfield with an in-depth interview with Slot, some back up bloke for the sky sports reporters when one of them rings in sick sent up there to chat to Howe because nobody else fancied it and it gives him something to do as nobody has any holidays booked this week.3 points

i think they targeted this tournament as the best chance of finally ending the curse. the two arsenal semi final legs were among the best performances of the season and our form and intensity has dropped away since then - coincidence? i think they've been playing within themselves since and are saving up intensity for the final where we unleash the beast against liverpool. no shame to lose against these but i expect us to work harder than them. no no-show this time. don't fear the occasion or the opposition. leave it all on the pitch. get into them, fuck them up. i predict a nervy 1-0 win to us. an early goal in the first half then an excruciating 70-80 minutes where we defend the lead.3 points

We didn't turn up at all against Man U, who were a much worse side than this version of Liverpool. If we play like we did then we're going to get thrashed. All I ask is that we give it a go. I don't expect us to win, but I do expect us to go down swinging this time.3 points

For the curious, Tim messaged the admins and requested their account be deleted. So that was fun while it lasted.3 points

Is he Blyth’s first international player? No snark at all there- I’m genuinely curious. I’m genuinely pleased for him- seems like a thoroughly decent lad and I’m sure he’ll be popular with the squad.3 points

they'd just leave the current one as it is, but say there was 68k in it anyway.3 points

Right, fuck it, if we don't go into this behind the team then what is the fucking point. We absolutely can win this. It'll be stressful beyond belief, we'll all lose years off the end of our lives, but in the end that's what this club is all about. Sending everyone who loves it to an early grave. Our midfield is better than theirs. Our forward is better at least in all around play. Our defense is capable of being really damn good. We can win this, and I choose to believe we will.3 points

I dread to think what they’d have to charge to fill a 68k capacity stadium. They’d probably have to start paying people to go3 points

The point is, it's a permanent Manchester United perspective or a Liverpool one. Good or bad the focus and attention is all on them.3 points
