Unsure about that one... What the EU can't do is quickly become that, but it's not as if it doesn't have the economic clout to do so. There is a reason that some of us have been advocating closer and closer ties with them, and it's not because we just enjoy visa free holidays. Strategically it makes a lot of sense and would make the collective a counterbalance to US or Chinese power in a way that clearly individual nation states in their own right can never be. The problem is that we're overrun by our own pack of (IMO) traitors voting against European interests at every occasion in favour of petty parochial nonsense. What is happening to Ukraine should be a good example of why nation states like the UK can't go it alone. The super powers, if they ever want to, can crush us. Where is our sovereignty god then? £800bn on rearming is not nothing, It's equivalent to US yearly military spend (although they also have to fund their various far flung bases and outposts, so in a consolidated Europe this figure is more powerful). Europe doesn't have to replace the US as a world police force, it just has to be compact and vicious enough to defend itself and its borders. It is absolutely capable of doing that. Diplomacy with Canada and East Asian democratic powers is a significant next step beyond that as the US plunges into isolationism. Ironically, all of this should be music to Trump's ears - but apparently he's throwing tantrums because he's meant to be centre stage and Europe wasn't supposed to be trying to find alternative answers.6 points

That particular deal will never happen, swap deals are rare enough, but three players as makeweights? No chance. If nothing else theres no way we're going to take on three players with PSG wages.6 points

Maybe you could start one with predicting Salah is going to get through it completely unscathed? And if it does happen then you’ll have actually got something correct.5 points

To keep those worshipping the Mitchell/Bunce axis sweet. Those of us who identified them both as shallow know nothing charlatans very early on in the piece iirc know a lot better obvs4 points

We used to do the 24-hour ferry to Gothenburg back when it still existed. Bit less of a booze cruise, but you didn't half learn about cabin fever after a while. Harwich to Hoek van Holland is ideal by comparison. Rock up in the evening just in time for a nightcap in the bar, away to bed as you're setting sail, then wake up already at your destination. Only trouble is Stena Line plays fucking "Don't Worry, Be Happy" over the PA to wake everyone up.4 points

Re: Hall and Gordon, it’ll probably force us down the 3 at the back route with Trippier and Livramento as wingbacks. It might represent our best chance of winning anyway, playing like that. Trippier will be far less exposed there and Tino is comfortable playing on that side. Clutching at straws perhaps but given how good LFC are this season I think it was always going to be a case of ‘it was written in the stars’ were we to win. There have been far bigger upsets in cup finals. I’ll temper that slightly by admitting I fully expect a comfortable win for the opposition4 points

it's swansea city i feel sorry for in all of this, their 12 year old record of holding the biggest league cup final winning margin looks to be in grave danger.3 points

How many sides carry more than six CBs into a season? It has been a series of unfortunate events that have led us to this situation. The first being your father getting that feeling in his pants.3 points

At the start of the season we had six players capable of playing CB with two positions available. But aye, we should have gone all out for that seventh CB.3 points

I think the phrase is these things happen gradually then suddenly Lots of reason why it's the perfect time though. Wotsit Mussolini sucking up all the media coverage, the Republicans poloiticians either too terrified to face him down or bought and paid for. People totally disengaged. Most people either still comfortable or more worried about how to put food on the table to notice. Completely supine press And half the country brainwashed fully on board cult members3 points

It's happening in plain sight. This video came out a few months ago and mentions a lot of the same people and their plan with the same conclusion. Scary how much of it has happened in the first month3 points

Beating Liverpool was going to be hard enough anyway. If we have to do it without Hall, Gordon and a match fit Botman then we need a fucking miracle3 points

Let's see where the crisis in the team is vs Liverpool at Wembley. I'm gonna go ahead and predict that we might get shown up more at the back than at RW. Howe knew that, it's why he tried to fix it, but even now in the face of a crisis at CB, some of you just won't give it up.2 points

The daughters went over on the ferry without bothering to tell me before they booked, I think they had the sum total of two hours in Holland before coming back, they spent a small fortune on data and overpriced everything. I'd even told them in the past when they were mulling over going to Amsterdam to just pay a bit extra on the flight and it would save them in the long run but what do I know?2 points

How's our CB pairing looking at the minute? Schar is finished, which leaves us with two left sided CBs, one of whom remains injured. And Lascelles who has never been good enough. Yeah it's a fucking MYSTERY why we were trying to strengthen in defence last summer. Fucking dipshit.2 points

Netherlands is massively underrated as a destination imo. Some of the other cities are great too, lush beaches, easy (casual) cycling. And bitterballen. 🥰2 points

Just got back from 2 days in Amsterdam with the family. Somehow managed to avoid it until 42, but what a lush city. Barely any cars in the city centre, little to no rubbish, beautiful architecture, everyone is bilingual, lovely food etc. f Had a great time. Only let down slightly by some absolute clampetts on the ferry.2 points
