It was the players not putting a full shift in. This is a team that got to the CL by giving 100% every week. When we do that we’re fantastic. If we don’t do that then we get days like yesterday, Fulham, Bournemouth etc. This side isn’t good enough to be able to coast through games, we need to be fully at it. It’s what our previous successes have been built on.6 points

Agree with most but Ruddy will stay, he’s a training goalkeeper on (relatively) small wages. See Scott Carson at city for example. Dubs should leave and Trafford/another goalkeeper to come in to replace/push Pope. Would also keep Longstaff, he’s gets a lot of stick but to replace him would cost more than we could get for him. Plus homegrown at club.4 points

You can put your bikes and yourselves on a boat and miss out the fucking Middle East entirely- start again in India. They’d chosen to ignore HO advice against travelling there, their next stop was Pakistan… They are a pair of fucking imbeciles if they expected to get through it unscathed.4 points

These two British cunts caught in Iran can fucking stay there. The government paid hundreds of millions to free the last person detained by them who at least had the defence of visiting family and being sunk by Boris Johnson. These two were on a motorbike trip across the world and were fully aware of the risks so they can now deal with the consequences.4 points

Agree with that, wouldn't be surprised if we kept Targett and Lascelles from that list as well. even if they never play you need a squad. If you let Targett go for example what do you do for backup for Hall? You'll be hard pressed to find another experienced pro at targetts level for less money imo. He's had some terrible luck with his fitness but hes a capable premier league player when hes fit.3 points

Horse walks into a bar and the barman says "wow, you again, you're in here an awful lot, do you think you could be an alcoholic ?" The horse says "I think I am..." And suddenly just disappears. This joke is a play on Descartes philosophical "I think therefore I am" which I could have pointed out to start with, but it would have spoiled things putting Descartes before the horse. FOIA3 points

just seen a channel4 advert for the network premiere of the banshees of inisherin, as if this is something to be proud of. if you haven't seen this and are tempted to give it ago, i implore you..... don't. it's beyond fucking shite, in fact it's that bad I'd urge you go out and buy blur's parklife album and listen to that a couple of times instead.3 points

Gonzales was excellent. He just tidied up, plugged gaps, fetched and carried and allowed Gundogan and Foden to create. Kushanov was unflustered but tbf wasn’t up against much. He helped double team Isak a few times. Nothing much to say about Marmoush his quality is obvious to all. Three almost certainly transformative signings all playing very well two weeks after the end of the window v decent opposition, a window in which we sold two squad players. Right from kick off Foden went into the pocket and caused problems, no one seemed to know who was marking him. Not long after that Dan Burn raced out into midfield to challenge him when he was on the ball further back on the half way line. Foden looked a bit shocked but it never happened again after that, City took control and that was the extent of our “front foot” stuff. We visibly wilted. Isak started occupying the space Murphy usually exploits. Bruno disappeared and this time it was contagious, Tonali was seemingly struck by the same bug. One man can’t do it all obvs especially v the league champions. Joelinton and Botman need to be back in time for our visit to Anfield and remain fit for the final if we’ve to have any chance…3 points

I'm told that means you like me? Anyway as long as we both beat Forest in the next couple of weeks....3 points

I think like this sometimes but being there for that second leg against Arsenal felt like something akin to an old football experience. Full blooded support for your team against a team you hate in a game we needed to win. I left St James feeling more connected with it all than ever. Then they serve that shit up today.3 points

The next step is stepping away from it all together. Wtf am I getting radged up about when we get beat or have a chance of winning? I've usually went back when they've needed my support after relegation etc. Not any more, get the superstar social media 'guys' to do that. Always wondered why fifty year old blokes didn't go any more when I was around 18-20, their reasons were probably myriad but maybe the likes who went with no no fences, no violence, no bullshit but genuine trophy chances had enough with dipshits like me and my mates? It's went full circle with different circumstances but now I'm the one thinking 'fuck this'. I'll stick to old YouTube clips from the good old/shit old days.3 points

If we're going to have stinker performances, away at Man City is a great place to have them. Unfortunately it's not only away at financial super clubs that we have such games. For me it brings home how far behind we still are. Their depth is magnitudes ahead of ours and yet they were still able to bring in top quality players to plug the gaps from injuries. The biggest concern for me is that if the remainder of our season stutters along and we finish outside of meaningful European places then we'll find ourselves stagnating and quite possibly even regressing. Whilst we've potentially set ourselves up to have the best chance to improve our squad over the summer if we can't offer European football we'll struggle to attract the right calibre of player. Plus we'll face extreme levels of unsettling speculation about Isak and potentially others (Tonali, Bruno). If we do sell even if we get good prices there's absolutely no guarantee that we'll spend wisely. Winning the League Cup would be absolutely brilliant, but with this performance surely our confidence drops. We have a similar game coming up at Anfield. If we are beaten as comprehensively there then the self belief will inevitably recede further. The results of the cup also won't impact our ability to attract players as it only guarantees Europa Conference League play-offs.3 points

Eddie's time at Newcastle has always been streaky, periods when we just look awful then bam we'll suddenly go a good winning run where we look like we will beat anybody. Just got to hope the next run starts before the cup final2 points

What gets me is some of the comments you sometimes see from the current matchgoers. I'd rather slice my Japs eye with a rusty blade than share a stadium with the cunts. They've done the hard yards apparently and we haven't. Some boys, them.2 points

Have just seen Nancy Pelosi come out and say that in 6 months when the campaigning starts again, the democrats are going to come out in force Steve Bannon is currently celebrating, his 'flooding the zone' plan is working perfectly. There'll be nothing left in 6 months Nancy... might I suggest you hand leadership of the party over to someone about 30 years younger?2 points

Most of the southerners you saw today probably live in Manchester tbh mate. It’s like little Clapham when you walk around the northern quarter now, I know it’s rich coming from me from Boro. But anyone who has a clue moves out of boro obviously. One of my best mates down here is mad city, always has been but doesn’t go anymore. Hasn’t since they changed stadium, that’s my worry for our fans in future.2 points

I don't disagree with that. That's what I mean by saying we're overachieving and aren't really a CL side yet. But the manner in which we suddenly fall off is concerning. And not just against City. Fulham and Bournemouth were the same and it was clear from the start in those games we were not showing up and were in for a poor defeat. Earlier on in the season we were just as inconsistent. Last season we had fatigue and injuries to blame. This time it's just like we go completely missing. Today should have been a LOT better. I don't see the point in disguising that. Almost everyone has given them proper games in the last few months and we've faced them off the back of a massive midweek fixture and given them an easier game than they could have dreamed off. That's the galling part. They just gave to brush it off and try and get something against Forrest. I'm concerned what this run will do to confidence before the final. Other than that if Howe manages another CL finish he deserves a medal because our natural position is probably 7th or 8th.2 points
