  4. I think it's time to accept the a large and growing proportion of the population are ill-educated drones, easily manipulated by the press/TV, social media and it's puppet masters. They think they're free thinkers but they're sheep. The world is fucked, socially and physically (you can kiss climate change mitigation goodbye) thank fuck I'm the age I am and I so am unlikely to have to live through the worst of it. Done with any consideration of a world view, will deal with whatever I see in front of me with my own eyes only. Fuck it.

  5. After Brexit, I didn’t think I’d see another major western country bend itself over and fuck itself to oblivion again, but here we are. Stupid fucking cunts. Blame social media, mainstream media, whoever, but ultimately, blame the fucking backwards cunts that have voted the rapist back in to office. Un- fucking-believable. SLAVA UKRAINI ! You’re going to need it you poor bastards.

  7. It can effect my day to day life as much as it wants, I'll deal with it when whatever it is, is in front of me, I dealt with the death of my youngest son, 4 years ago next week as it happens, I sure as hell can deal with anything the world may want to throw at me. I henceforth, categorically refuse to waste breath, or thought, on shit I can't control. Let the fuckers get on with it. If I was younger, and me and the Mrs have had this conversation, there's no fucking way I'd now bring kids into this world. My eldest can face his day to day as best he can, I'll support him as I can, but the "big picture" can fuck off. I have lost my last shred of hope that there is an underlying decency in wider humanity, just look at the state of the place. The bad guys have won (again) as they usually do. Encouraged by a moronic US administration, Reform will likely win or at least become establishec in our next election, in the wider context we are fucked, a pissant little island self isolated from our neighbours. Labour have zero chance of turning this place around in 5 years now. We're not fucked today, we won't be fucked next week, next month or next year to a particularly noticeable degree. Maybe I am a tad over-emotional about it all as it's a tough time of year in this house now and through Christmas, but I am tuning out any and all socio-economic/political noise. Fuck it.

  10. That to me is the biggest offering any politcian could make though. Lets recall Trump: Is a pathalogical liar ✅ Is an adulterer ✅ Is a felon (criminal case) ✅ Is a rapist (civil case) ✅ Is a coward (draft dodger) ✅ Is a traitor (insurrection) ✅ Is a narcissist ✅ Is a misogynyst ✅ Was mates with Epstein ✅ Is a con man ✅ Is a racist ✅ Is in the control of Putin ✅ Shits his pants ✅ Has threatened to end democracy ✅ Wants to fuck his daughter ✅ Is a successful businessman ❌

  12. So much blaming the voters in this thread, its the olds fault, it's the youngsters fault, it's the Hispanics fault. No its not It's no good proclaiming an economic miracle when inflation means the poor can't put a meal on the table The Democrats didn't win because they didn't give people anything to vote for. Their whole platform was orange man bad. Their whole platform was a money making excercisr and viewed from that perspective it was a resounding success. How many times did you hear how they were outperforming Trump on raising money. Now they can go into overdrive raising more money for the next election Starmer needs to take note here (he won't) Labour needs to make people's lives better not just be manegerially more proficient. Inflation cost the Dems and in reality its probably what got Labour elected. Most voters are low information. 5 and 10 year plans to gradually turn things round when they are seen to be cutting pensions putting the poorest bus fares up and leaving children starving Also don't underestimate the Dem/Labour response to Gaza in depressing support. I've heard Trump will be worse for Gaza. How exactly, it's already a fucking genocide supported by UK/USA So basically stop blaming the voters and the leftists when the centrists, let's be honest neither Dem/Lab are in any way left, offer them nothing

  14. I spoke to my mam the other day and her first question was what do you think about the budget. I made the point that I was just pleased it wasn't another managed decline budget, and that whether it worked or not, at least they're trying to do something. To my absolute fucking amazement, she agreed. Then she revealed that she's come off watching rolling news (GB and TalkTV) because it's leaving her permanently enraged. Funny that, almost like it's their business model. Anyway, she'll be back on it before long, but it's amazing what even a couple of weeks of not being told what to think about things by the telly can do for you.

  15. Once all the older, sort of 65+ lot, got on Facebook and Twitter and started lapping up all the conspiracy shit and Russian propaganda. It’s had a big hand in stuff like what’s just happened, what happened 8 years ago, Brexit, Johnson winning his ‘landslide’, the rise of fascism and Reform. It’s not all of them by any means or just them. But loads of that generation are completely down the rabbit hole. And they’re never coming back.

I switch off to most things now. best thing I ever did was move to monmouth at the beginning of the year, news comes on and it's my cue to take the dog out along the wye, there's still a reasonable chance during the time ive got left I'll spot a kingfisher or an otter before they poison the fucking river altogether.

  26. There’s lads I work and have worked with, who are younger than me, that are totally taken in by whatever they read on Facebook and Twitter. Due to it constantly pumping it into their feed if they’ve so much as engaged with it once. People saying it’s just older racists are living in fantasy land

  28. That’s it. I’m just sorry for my kids. I grew up in a brilliant time not having to worry about politics home and abroad. Nowadays it’s just madness and reaching unthinkable low points. I guess the Kremlin is already preparing its victory parades.

  32. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Well you just got fooled twice, America. They played a clip on Trump on the news yesterday stating 'we're going to fix every single problem in this country' and it's simplistic bullshit like that the idiots have lapped up. Absolutely no detail of how he's going to do it but just ramblings about how great things are going to be. And it's not like this is a new comer to the game promising that if you elect him then everything is going to be amazing, this is a man with a four year record to be judged on. Has everyone forgotten how he was a complete agent of chaos during his last term? Or are people genuinely addicted to the drama? I honestly can't understand this result but well done America, you fucked yourselves and the rest of us.

  33. Right, well starting with today, it doesn't affect me. Doubt much will change tomorrow either. Or the day after that. Unless I allow it to by wallowing in the misery. That's what I'm talking about.

  34. It’s not Trump winning that depresses me, although it’s a fucking odious notion, it’s what a victory for him represents. This time he’ll have control of everything including the Supreme Court. They’ll normalise what shit he’s been up to and project 2025 will now become reality rather than just a nightmare. Scary times for the world, not just America.

  45. No, it absolutely doesn't affect your day to day. I'll go to work today, do my job, I'll walk the dog, and I'll spend time with my lass in the evening. I won't doomscroll and I won't watch the news. There will inevitably be trickle down effects in our country, of course there will, but that's not my day to day life. That's Keir Starmer's day to day life.
    3 points
  46. Exactly. There is no point in getting too worked up because you have to rely on the stupidity of other people. Not just abroad but at home too. The lunatics have taken over at many places in the last two decades. There are the Farages and AfDs as well.
