I don't like the idea of them being happy. they're fucking hilarious when they're consumed with bitterness and rage.8 points

This stuff about how we can't sign Isak to an improved contract cos we've just signed Gordon to one, and PSR won't allow us to do the same with Isak. That is a situation that cannot be allowed to continue. Not only is it preventing us from strengthening, it's preventing us from retaining out best players. It's total bullshit.6 points

He was also at one time getting performances out of some of those players that he had no right to be getting out of them. You can only do that for so long, and PSR has stopped us from replacing them and kicking on. If he does end up going, it's fair to say that he hasn't really been given the tools he would have expected following a takeover by the Saudis.5 points

Erm, me. Too stressful. Let's be honest, who doesn't want sunderland to be relegated to the national league?5 points

It’s not really that simple, is it? Wilson and Trippier aren’t anything like the players they were due to age, injuries catching up with them. In particular having only one fit proper CF who is able to start and do a job in the PL has been a crippling limitation. The uptick in the performances of limited players like Longstaff, Almiron and Murphy hasn’t proven to be sustainable (not really a shock there either). Botman and Lascelles getting injured is massively problematic too. The former is a huge miss while the latter couldn’t be sold to bolster the squad. Anderson was sold to meet PSR requirements. You would think he’d have got game time. Miley is out injured, ditto. All that plus coming 4th being a massive overachievement4 points

I’ve kept my counsel so far on the Howe/Mitchell etc situation, but… … when every single player in the side is evidently underperforming, you have to look beyond the players and wonder what’s going on to cause/fail to address this? I am 100% prepared to give Howe the benefit of the doubt here, it’s no great secret that there’s been shenanigans behind the scenes with power reshuffles and whatever, but there has to be a response on the pitch to our woeful form and if Edward can’t get that response then questions will rightfully be asked. That’s not to say it’s his fault tbh, we’ve been ridiculously hobbled by the crooked rules as far as improving the squad is concerned, but he’ll be the one to get blamed if it doesn’t improve sharpish. I wonder if we’re seeing what I’ve always suspected, that Stavely and Ghoudossi were the ones who had his back, and now that they’ve gone, he’s on his own against a “hostile” board?4 points

I don't think anyone else comes in and gets better results out of the players we have, but what is worrying to me is him sticking with a system for so long that we're rarely executing well for an extended period. Our players are two years older than when Howe got the best out of them, and for a number that two years has brought them to their decline (Almiron, Schär, Burn, Trippier, Wilson). Really missing Botman and Wilson, but in the scheme of things our current injury list is well under what we're used to.4 points

Cole Palmer is like some kind of ridiculous savant btw. You can tell there’s nothing in his head but circus noises and Tom and Jerry cartoons on a loop but get him a football and he’s a genius4 points

Putting aside local rivalries for a moment, it’d be a nice moment for the long-suffering worldwide MLF crew, who’ve followed them in massive numbers through thin and thinner since 2018. The local mob will surely be terribly conflicted though, given their well documented dislike of the Preemyer Leaygue. Of course, the home leg of the derby will be easy to police since none of them will be prepared to compromise their staunchly held principles and long-standing support of human rights by actually attending the match at SJP. Ultimately though, if they do manage to come up, it’s their gaffer I feel sorry for, as he’s guaranteed the sack a week before the first derby, to be temporarily replaced with Kevin Ball.4 points

But it wouldn’t be fair to the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham as well as Liverpool and Arsenal if we were allowed to catch up in the next decade.3 points

The simple fact is these are better than us. They had a better squad, infrastructure, everything anyway, and they've been allowed to continue to spend like maniacs, strengthening about 5 players deep across their entire squad. A good part of the reason we're being made to look a bit shit is just cos they're better than us.3 points

Game proves again why Chelsea are the epitome for me about what is wrong with football. They have done nothing for a couple of years but because they got rich several years ago and they suddenly became a fancy team they are still allowed to spend freely. But it is about us to keep the competition fair…3 points

Aye, with Amanda etc gone and the politics in the boardroom I would say Eddie will be gone this season, with a clutch of new buys from Mitchell in Jan for a new manager having spent nowt in the summer. Eddie seems to have lost his spark a bit, hopefully he can turn it around but gut feeling says its going to be sooner rather than later, if im honest its been 15 months of regression, albeit with an injury crisis.2 points

This is it. Play off place and the usual loss at Wembley on penalties please. Thing about them being promoted and being relegated is it means they're shit at a higher level. I want them to be shit at the lowest level feasibly possible. I want them to experience misery on top of their misery. Other than that they're canny lads, wishing them all the best. 👍2 points
