  1. Surely, at some point, some of these people need to understand that there are levels. I am sure most of us have played 5-a-side. We have all played with that lad who is just a cut above us (it was never me, I have always had zero ability) who manages to score 7 goals and make it look effortless. I have never thought to myself, 'wow, he has better stats that Haaland'.

  2. They have the fucking brass neck to accuse others of being deluded, meanwhile here they are comparing Jack Clarke to Vinicius Jr without any mention of the level of competition each play at

  4. Vini Jr I'd read till Doku and Kulusevksi hadn't gotten to Vinicious yet Anybody checked how he stacks up against Garrincha's carries into penalty area?

  6. The good thing about Miley is that he's already got the height, so if he fills out he could be pretty imposing.

  8. Quoted this for truth, absolutely spot on. They are repeatedly incapable of understanding the leagues are structured to segregate teams based on quality, and the quality of teams relates to the quality of tgeir players. Hardly rocket science. What is even more odd considering there experiences of yo yoing around the middle tiers. Getting promoted, going down on 15 points etc. How many times have they said they would beat from the top tier based on us getting a result? ManU, AC Milan, PSG, to name just a few. Even when we schooled them without breaking sweat they just don't get it. Edit: how did MancMag's trials at Barca go btw?

  9. Howay, man. They can’t even get their head round the concept of players only being worth what other clubs are willing to pay

  10. Harry Kane is going to move to Celtic at the age of 37 to get a trophy and Hibs will win the league.

  11. Tells you how tough the championship is like, you could have a Vini Jr standard player and still struggle to get into the playoff spots.

  12. I dont mind him as much as some and I think Howe would like him but buying chelseas english players is just never going to represent value for money at a time where weve got to watch FFP, him being homegrown for them also means anyone signing him is giving them a massive leg up on FFP that they can then use to spend more. I really dont want us to pursue players from our rivals that will allow them to get stronger when Im absolutely certain we can sign some foreign player that can do what he does for less money.

  18. Yeah. Given the importance of sea temperature on the climate, that is terrifying. Several reasons. First, this is just unprecedented and extremely suddedn and unexpected. Second, the oceans contain the world's energy, they warm the air and make it humid, potentially causing catastrophic rain and storms. Third, the latent heat of water makes it slower to cool down and very hard to reverse. Finally, and what most people don't realise, is the effect isn't linear. For instance, if you imagine a normal curve (bell shaped) of storm by strength, let's say the 1% tail on the right side is extreme storms. But what happens with global warming is that the whole curve shifts to the right. Doesn't take much movement for 5% of storms to become extreme etc.

  19. I would be tempted to play Miley as the DM all the time with current players available. I’m not saying that’s definitely his position long term but when I’ve seen him play as one of the more advanced midfielders he leaves us open. He kind often ‘cheats’ in the way Gordon sometimes does too. By that I mean instead of properly tracking his runner, he’ll hope the ball gets turned over so he’s stole a 5/10 yard march on his marker. It’s fine Gordon doing it sometimes because he’s in a more advanced role. But Miley leaves us too open doing it there. He’s probably gotten away with it and had joy at junior / reserve level, as the ball gets turned over more easily and you don’t get punished as much. If you ask him to play a more disciplined role then that might cut out that issue. With the deeper starting position and less licence to get forward he knows he then can’t do that. He’s also very neat and tidy on the ball and comfortable receiving it under pressure, which also suits that position. The other thing is that it frees up both Bruno and Longstaff to be the more marauding / attacking midfielders of the 3 in the manager’s favoured system.

  20. To be fair I get where they are coming from when watching us play. The last time I watched Sunderland play on the telly, I really wanted the other team to beat them. Luckily we did. Since then, I have had no interest in watching them.

  23. He used to come out with “factoids”, which he used to describe little facts. A factoid actually means an incorrect fact, but his use of it has now grown to the point where everyone uses it, making the word factoid its own factoid. Never liked the cunt.

  30. Having just watched Only Connect, I now know we needn’t worry about climate change. If my maths is correct, and growth is consistent, within 20 years the entire planet will be replaced by Victoria Coren’s tits. What a way to go.

  32. the way they go on about him, man. The next Chris Waddle and all that shite. You’re genuinely talking about the sort of player who’ll do very well to have a career anywhere near as good as someone like Wayne Routledge. Which isn’t a dig at either player. Just highlighting how batshit crazy a fair proportion of RTG are.
