  1. I sense a working lift in their very bright future.

  2. Still they’ll always have that shot he put over the bar in the derby to look back on or something. If that speculative effort were just an inch or two lower Dubravka would have saved it but IMAJUN if it went in marras.

  3. As far as I can see the only thing that differentiates their ‘model’ from other skint championship clubs is the excessive use of the word ‘model’.

  6. Bit unfair, he probably just pops down to Beamish for his peaky blinder hair do. On second thoughts, maybe you're right.

  7. A bit like religion, it's something people hold onto because without it they'd realise just how pointless their existence is.

  12. “It wasn't possible to do any January deals. We didn't have capacity to improve the team in the way that we think we want to improve it. So we decided not to do something yet. We have one of the thinnest squads in the league, that's for sure.” Arteta

  13. They’re all dreaming they’ll get Diallo on loan from Man U a bloke who helped them reach the dizzying heights of 6th place on goal difference last season. Tbf you can see why they’re all excited about their model, so far they’ve not sold anyone for any sort of profit, they’ve downgraded their manager, and are clinging to the hope that they’ll pay someone else to loan one of that clubs youth players to give them game time. From the outside looking in you’d say there’s absolutely no sign of any model, aside from the mackems usual of loaning other peoples players and putting all their hope into that loan player.

  16. Trips has obviously managed to convince his missus he's never even heard of the Vermont considering he's been back to his best since the mackem game.

  17. "Or did they both?" This misses the distinct and most likely possibility that both clubs are losers here.

  18. It doesn’t matter because we’ll build commercial revenue steadily. It just means our progress will be steady. It should also make the ‘lesser’ clubs realise they’ve shot themselves in the cock with their previous forelock tugging. You’ve already seen attempts to further hamper us getting blocked because clubs like Everton have woken up to the closed shop. This window has hammered it home to a few more clubs. It’s frustrating in the short-term but I think it’s unsustainable. But like i mentioned re the long term revenue increases, it’s pretty much win-win for us anyway

  19. The current situation re FFP is plainly ludicrous, with us and Villa now fucking hamstrung on spending. I would assume both clubs are making noises behind the scenes, and that changes can be made to address this. You'd hope there would be a majority of teams in the PL looking to put this right, and at the very least change the amounts in question. I'm assuming we're grafting privately at present but will eventually start to hear the likes of Eales making disapproving noises publicly if it doesn't get anywhere. Clubs are being locked out of progressing, it's fucking ridiculous.

  20. The model. Tbf to the club, I don't think they really ever promoted the model. Seems to be a thing purely imagined by the MLF's of the SMB.

  21. Now, be fair. They sold their striker to Southampton and didn’t bother replacing him properly. That’s the model in action

  22. Massive shout out BTW to Mr massive bollocks MF for two wins on the road.

  23. The questions of Howe's lack of substitutions is fair but he deserves credit for the one sub he did make. Going to 5 at the back has stabilized things perfectly. They've had nothing from us since the change.

  24. This Isak is a crock business. He was clearly still unfit when we brought him back from injury too early, he played through it for ages, and he's got no one we can sub on for him. Our situation is making things worse for him imo. We're basically flogging one bloke and then throwing our arms up in the air when he breaks down. Get a third striker in and actually have some rotation before we write anyone off.

  27. It's the people employed to catch them I feel sorry for. Imagine having to stash yourself in the bushes on the dales and wait for someone to go for a slash. Jump out on them, flash your badge, give them a fright and end up soaked in piss.

  29. According to one of the mackems at work it's something their DOF has been blagging since he joined. The model of buying young players at bargain prices and selling them on at a massive profit, but in his eyes just means they buy shite and get stuck with shite because so far all they have bought is shite The 'model' is just the Mike Ashley 'model' in reality, and unless you have capable people in post it's likely to lead to disaster. It works at Brighton because they have a mint scouting network that they spend fortunes on. Sunderland have a director of football who plays fifa once a week

  30. Like I said before. Imagine this out of football? It's pretty much illegal. 'Oh yes Mr Smith, your corner shop can only invest twenty quid for more stuff as ASDA aren't happy with you being close to them'

  31. And that will become the official narrative now. Poor little Arsenal couldn't improve their wafer thin squad. Bless them. All the while the same people will question Howe's future when largely the same 11 that has played every minute of every game for the last two months turns out against Villa tonight (and especially if we get beat)
