"Eddie, ah don't know if you've seen the news lately but ah was wondering what you made of the sycamore tree getting cut down? It was a great north east institution like Newcastle United and many ex- Newcastle players went there on their days off, in fact ah once interviewed one Lee Bowyer, once of this parish there as well as the 'man who would be bling', Nile Ranger. Have you any thoughts on this and err, did you watch Lee and Nile when they played for Newcastle?"8 points

I think there's a lot, lot wrong with the state that owns the PIF and the wahabism interpretation of Islam behind it. I'm happy to have a sensible, intelligent discussion about it with anyone, as long as they acknowledge I do not support Saudi or the PIF, I support my team, end of. In the same way Chelsea fans didn't support Abromovic, ManU don't support the Glazers, and I assume the fans of massive lads didn't support Short or their current owners, considering their business interests and links. I can easily decompartmentalise the two in my head, conciously, emotionally, and spiritually. It's literally impossible to have a sensible discussion with them about it though. Most of the time its just petty point scoring and actually trivialises the real issues that they are apparently so suddenly morally aghast about. Much of it is just offensive nonsense, conflating SA with IS. Some of it is very suspect fetishism regarding violence and sexual abuse - the worst of them, learly really unpleasent people, take this angle. A lot of it is just pure ignorance, their lack of any understanding about the Yemenese civil war and the geopoltics of the region, including our (UK) own interventions and involvement. But what I really won't accept is their sudden adoption of conspiracy theories, namely, that it was the Saudi state behind 9/11. That is just crassly offensive on a moral and intellectual level. Despite this though, It's fair to say that a lot of the board has bought into this. They really are Sad Mackem Bastards.5 points

I don't really understand much about law so I don't know where the case may end up. What the judge says is that Barcelona made those payments to the second chief referee with the intention of receiving a favorable arbitration. In my opinion, that alone should be enough to sanction them. The fact is that now they are seeking to know if the second chief referee really did something to get the referees to help Barcelona or simply kept the money and 'swindled them'. I really believe that the Spanish League cannot lose Barcelona because they would lose more than 35% of the product they sell (Here, Real Madrid and Barcelona take 70% of everything in terms of money and television coverage). The fact is that, from what I have been able to learn in recent days, the judge handling the case is not a 'serious person' either, he really likes putting on a show and has handled several media cases in which he has liked to accuse almost everyone and then had to turn back. Without going any further, apparently, the case was not his, he has illegally taken it from a colleague at the court and now that is also being investigated. Personally, I think it is very difficult for Barcelona to be punished in sports because the only real proof there is is a document through which Barcelona makes those payments to that man in exchange for some video tapes of reports from other matches. It smells very bad, but there is no evidence against it. I think that only if UEFA or FIFA entered could something happen sportingly speaking.4 points

Drove down Osbourne Road this afternoon and I was reminded of that bloke that designed the fjords in Norway. Absolute Sluttyblartfest.3 points

I’m honestly curious what difference they think it would make if Howe constantly brought it up? Maybe when they’re meeting Al Rummayyan to go over budget or whatever else Howe can include a few slides to first acknowledge and go over the bad things the country where Al Rummayyan is from does, then they can switch gears back to football matters? It seems they’d be happy if Howe was to equate the chopping down of a tree to mass executions? They’d have no qualms that it was maybe, even just slightly, belittling the execution/murder issue? You know in a similar way that they’re using horrific events to try and point score over a local football rival.3 points

Rezillos are great live, all out sci-fi punk pop attack. Last time I saw them must have been 43/44 years ago and it was like being in a cartoon Back in late 70s early 80s the Undertones were far and away my favourite band, saw them many times and nobody could touch them live. Saw them in 2008ish when they first reformed but couldn't get over the lack of Feargal and considered it a bit karaoke and never thought I'd bother to see them again Last night was a birthday present from my youngest, so I resolved to put my reservations aside. I went in viewing it as the Undertones being the band plus a singer. They opened with emergency cases then you've got my number and I was sold. After that it was just one stone cold classic after another. The singer couldn't really pull off the later stuff, Wednesday Week and Love Parade were a bit weak, but the rest of it was pure family entertainment All in all had an utter blast3 points

Spot on, I’ll add that it’s very hard to have moral superiority when as part of the points they make they refer to Saudi Arabians as “camel humpers” and other racist phrases. I find they now just have meshed all of their half brained research into a go to set of phrases, such as “beheading people”, “throwing people off buildings”, the 9/11 stuff, and similar where it may have at one point been based on something but they’re that lazy about making they’re point they are now just feigning anger at the notion of general things that happened rather than be specific, which itself comes across as troubling. They’re taking legitimate concerns and boiling them down to point score.2 points

But at least there is a reason for those trees to get cut down, whether you call it CUNTS MAKING PROFITS or the provision of housing for our growing population of soon to be singletons like Gemmill and PL.. This is just seemingly senseless. Also unlike 99.999999% of trees, it was massively iconic, symbolic. Not to mention the scattering place of countless ashes etc.2 points

It’s amazing all these types aren’t multi-millionaires, given their esoteric knowledge of how the system works. I guess they’re just more concerned with selflessly informing their fellow citizens. Either that or they’re fuckwits adding more shite to the sewer that is Twitter1 point

That’s kind of the point though. I think Lascelles is limited but he’s a lot more comfortable in a good side where he isn’t exposed. Rafa rated him too. I don’t think Howe is going to be able to make an improvement like we’ve seen with some other players with him. But equally you wouldn’t like to be judged purely on how you performed playing for Steve Bruce.1 point

I'm speechless at this news. I just can't understand any motivation for this act of vandalism. What could anyone gain from it? I had never heard of sycamore gap when I first saw it. was walking along the wall and came to it, and immediately thought what an amazing photo that would make. I had my first digital camera then (probably 2004ish, a Canon Ixus) so photographed it. Only later through Paul Mooney on the BBC weather did I realise it was famous. And now some cunt has removed it so nobody else can enjoy it. Cunts. Although it somewhat reminds me of Bart cutting off Jermiah Springwood's head of as a dare, this is much, much worse. A living thing, an icon of the whole North East, gone. And even if they were somehow caught, the maximum legal sentence or even lynching the cunts is not going to change that.1 point
