  6. I think the main difference between medieval sunderland and the present day one is that in those days it wouldn't have been just seagulls whose virginity was at peril but also that of the common crane. it could well be that mackems were responsible for its extinction by the 16th century.

  8. Did Wellington > Picton across the cook straight, booked on for the 1pm crossing, it didn’t arrive into Wellington till 6pm for us to start boarding, accompanied by a kiwi TV news team who proceeded to take shots of the piles of vomit lying about the passengers area (that this passes for news in NZ is one of the greatest joys of my life ) We eventually left about 9pm, with much of the spew still lying around…. just about held on to our guts until we reached Marlborough Sounds where all suddenly became calm so I had a pint to celebrate 🍺

  14. Says he never watches us play. But knows all about our players. And then, when we do play, spends the entire time, having a completely normal one, in our match thread pretending he’s not watching us whilst telling everyone in there they are mad for watching us play.

  17. Been on the Amsterdam ferry in the winter when it was about force 10 coming home. You then realise why it’s cheap at that time of year with that being reasonably common. At least I wasn’t one of the poor buggers who appeared to be seasick for the entire journey. I was back on land for about half a day before it felt like the ground wasn’t moving

  21. If we had a more valuable, less integral player I think he'd have stayed and been used as a bit of an agent of chaos in matches where the opposition were being stubborn. In terms of mercurial French attacking players he's definitely 4th. What's my rankings? Thanks for asking, it's Robert, Ginola, HBA and then ASM. I won't be taking any questions at this time.

  23. That Kev Lawson fella seems to have a great insight. Enjoy reading his stuff! Maybe part of the contract for Livramento is to pretend he is Italian to help Tonali settle in quickly

  24. Ashworth’s plan at Brighton was very much to sign the star players replacement before the star had left. Trippier is 32 and we’re also playing upward of 50 games this season. Without taking into account Trippier naturally winding down, Livramento is a player for now, to cover Trippier for the big games but also the player to replace Trippier in the long run. We need two decent right backs more than the left back position because, no matter what you think, Burn and Targett are perfectly good left backs

  25. I mean he’s got a great track record re: predictions. He had us to get relegated at the start of last season

  26. £40m for Livramento will, in 3 seasons or so, be considered a total bargain. You heard it here first™️

  36. Just got home. 60mph winds on the channel crossing, then had to wait for an hour to get in to Dover harbour as there were no free docking spaces. Not even back on home soil and the fucking traffic jams started

  37. I think it’s a mistake if we don’t sign a top class left back for a champions league campaign. Don’t know if we’d go for a loan deal? I’d much rather loan another forward in if that’s what we’re looking at than a starting left back tbh. Think we’ll get found out down that side all season if we don’t
