  1. Then how do you explain this second ASM already playing in Saudi?

  2. Anthony Gordon literally just won player of the tournament at the U21 Euros playing as a striker

  3. He's worth whatever someone will pay for him vs how much Howe thinks he brings to the squad. That ended up being fairly meagre fee in todays market... Its not really a case of us selling him and buying a 23 million pound player, thats not how FFP works, it puts way more in the spending basket because purchasing fees are counted against the length of the contract, so (over simplified) Barnes 38 million has cost us 7 million or something on this years FFP counter, and we've just made 23 million. Our revenue will continue to grow as long as we keep performing well, and our ceiling for spending will increase as a result. There are also some shenanigans that can be done by renewing contracts, so Bruno for example has been here 18 months, we paid something like 35 million quid for him, or 7 million a season over the length of his original 5 year deal. Some of that, say 14 million, has now been checked off, and the remaining 21 million can be stretched out even further if we give him a new deal now with an extra two years on it, so he'd then count as 4 million a season on our FFP budget rather than 7. So we'd be better off, even if we end up paying him more money to do it. FFP is fucking bananas and it is no wonder some clubs lose track of it.

  5. “ Hey Steve, Fancy managing a club in the Saudi League…” “ We’ll pay you £8 million a year and we won’t ask for any tactics…” “ Oh aye, no one here really cares, it’s purely a vanity project. You’ll have plenty of time to write new thrillers.” “ The club’s called Al- Shabob and it…”

  6. You get some selfish cunts who've maybe only known SJP as it is now and who critically, have a ST, who say it can't be moved full stop, won't be the same etc yet for me personally, as long as the stadium was as near as damn it to where it is now then so what? For me, there's only the upper part of the east stand that is still there from my first game, for others even that would've been new. It's selfishness basically. Move anywhere? Of course not. Move a stone's throw up the road? We'd be insane not to as a club.

  11. I think we did settle for a fee that is way below the normal fee not to rattle other clubs because of the involvement of PIF but to get quick and guaranteed money to be able to finance other deals.

  14. Few years ago I was on a train and there's was a group sat a few seat behind me drinking and being loud and obnoxious as fuck. I did the same, headphones in to drown the cunts out. When I stood up to get off the train and realised they were a group of my mates and we were all going to the same gig.

  15. Looks like Bushmills have discontinued their Honey whiskey. A mate loved it and I was gonna get him a bottle. Whats Black Bush like. (no funny business MF either)

  16. And as always with these kinds of things, they don't take into account the energy cost of cooking all this food or the cost of owning the various bits of kitchenware (not to mention having the necessary time and kitchen space and fridge/freezer/storage space in the first place, which is often an issue for the people who need this kind of thing the most). I do think there's a strong societal argument for making sure people actually know how to cook on a budget, or indeed at all - it falls under the general "budgeting and useful life skills" category that the school curriculum seems determined to ignore for the most part - but that's very different from the "you wouldn't be as poor if you just learned to be happy with gruel" narrative that keeps rearing its ugly head in various forms, especially among those responsible for (or who love cheerleading for) austerity and its consequences.

  17. I want to laugh but there are son many pigshit people in the country who will just believe Just stop oil are part of the Labour party I can't. It really shouldn't be legal to lie like this in a democracy. And Labour too timid and pathetic to take these cunts head on, just plays to their game.

  20. I reckon Bruce would be off to Saudi if he was offered a sweet gig. Imagine the Al-Kebabi fans excitement as their new coach hoves into view in a generously proportioned tracksuit - sweating heavily, purple faced and with a knotted white hankie on his head

  23. They should move heaven and earth to revisit and revise the 90s plan with new modern tweaks, extra capacity and build as close as possible behind the leazes end so keep SJP in action until the new one is built. When SJP is demolished make it as green as possible to help replace what the new stadium displaces.

  24. 4 was mainly DM in my day. 8 Attacking midfield. 5-6 Centrebacks 7-11 wingers. 9 Striker. 10 Forward These used to interchange around a bit depending on if someone had a favourite number.

  28. Got to admit, regardless of political outlook, the cynicism and sheer manipulative cuntishness is something to be admired here Grant Shapps plainly saw “Swiss Tony” on The Fast Show and decided to adopt his entire persona, but sadly not his hairstyle

  30. @LongTimeAdmirer... I felt like you do now when craig bellamy was shunted off to celtic, I was so distraught I wanted souness to walk past a giant magnet. I still think about little craig every day, there's a good chance you'll never get over this. I genuinely feel for you.

  33. I feel we are on target for what we want as it seems to have gone this way for the last 3 windows. I think this is just how they do business. They have given me little to make them doubt how they conduct themselves. I'm not blindly just trusting them but each time I have had doubts, I have been proven to be wrong.

  34. Also, another little rant about the ridiculous schedule. The final test match of the English summer will finish before August has even started. Which would be bad enough but it’s an Ashes series. All to accommodate a competition that lost £9m over its first two years. FUCK RIGHT OFF!!!

  35. Had a mega weekend in London. Getting the train back was painful. Customer service was absolutely shocking on the train. Then some young lad was facetiming his lass loud as fuck. I put my earphones in after 30 minutes of leaving kings cross and so did our lass. Then This huge bastard got up and told him to stop being a selfish bastard and put his earphones in as he didn't want to hear his bird whine on about what a shit day she's had clearning out her knicker draw

  37. Well, yeah. It’s a massive missed opportunity. But not really down to poor fortune. It’s down to poor batting and missed opportunities in the field giving the team a massive mountain to climb. I don’t see that as bad luck in terms of going 2-0 down. I think it’s a very odd series as the England team have looked so dominant after those first two tests. And Australia have played in a very defensive manner. Which I don’t think has benefited them tbh. Sums it up nicely. I think England have learned as the series goes on. If you have a read back through the thread I think that’s what most people wanted. Reining in the more extravagant shots when the situation demanded it. I still think selecting Bairstow cost England the series too

  38. Worst NUFC-related news in years. That LTA is staying, I mean.

  39. Got talking to an older NUFC fan in Spain last night. He said he'd been a season ticket holder for 16 years through the 90s and jacked his ticket in under Ashley. Him and a few of his mates at work did the same and now none of them can get to games anymore. It's sad and reminded me of the posts HMHM and TBD made a few days ago. I think I'm probably a bit blinkered as to how things were pre-Ashley. I was too young to go games on my own for most of the 90s, and then lived away from the North East until 2005. So the Ashley years are by and large my barometer as a match going adult. Apologies if I came across as being on the wind up the other day. I totally get why people sacked off the club under Ashley. Out of interest, would people be up for a new 80k seat stadium if it meant everyone who wanted a ticket could get one?
