Aye, ASM has known the levels required of Eddie and had a summer to get up to speed. The number of times ASM sat down on the ground after being tackled I am sure drove Eddie mad, compared to the likes of Miggy. AG came from Fat Franks Shite-Show in Jan so has a summer to prove himself and I think he will come good4 points

The irony is Dan Neil would have to leave Sunderland for that to be right (not that I think the mackem has any chance of being proven correct).4 points

"Admittedly at a lower level". Most in the third tier in fact, none in the top tier. It literally beggars belief how these mackems don't understand the absolute basics of the football pyramid.4 points

A quick browse and I assumed from the title this would be from some crappy Sports news website or something, but no, it's the mackem's proclaiming themselves as the most passionate fans and for the most part the lower league fodder they've been forced to play filling in several places in the top 10. I mean, this list does seem to be a bit arbitrary to me and prone to bias perhaps . If we want to be objective, it would be interesting to compare and contrast home and away form. Pretty sure Sunderland's home form is toxic, with the stadium half empty, litter literally blowing around the pitch, regular fights amonst themselves, people leaving early and other people chastising people for leaving early, absolute shite flammable flag displays, shitting in pink seats etc. Not sure they should be number one tbh.3 points

They also both played in League One at a similar age (Longstaff was 19 iirc), Longaz managed 12 goals & assists (8 goals) to Neil’s 10 (3 goals). He’d also managed about 32 PL appearances by Neil’s age. It’s of course possible Neil is actually a talent, I’ve never seen him play, but the fact mackems tend to compare every single one of their players favorably to ours makes me think he’s not actually better. As you say though it’s just fucking mental how they act like the PL and league one is in any way comparable, despite having visible evidence this season when their Barcelona style side had to play counter attacking defensive football to a fairly bog standard, newly promoted side.3 points

We'll be seeing a lot more of Gordon next season obviously with a full pre-season under Howe and no doubt an exact idea of what his role in the team is supposed to be. This season it was nothing more than integration and utility sub appearances. I expect Howe to play to his strenghts, be direct, take on people with his pace and create space for the central forward. And if the current coaching setup has gotten Miggy, Joe, Willock and even Murhpy to add some end product to their games I don't see why they couldnt work with Gordon on that aspect too. Too early too judge.2 points

The Saudis have essentially just bought the game of professional golf. I can understand people being annoyed by that but ultimately it won't make a bit of difference to anyone other than the holier than thou.2 points

No clue where he's from but of course if he is one of their own and leaves they can live vicariously off the cunt for years like the Jordans.2 points

As Howay showed, he's getting in the right areas and the quality of his finishing is good. More time in a better team than Everton will allow him to improve those already decent metrics. One thing Gordon is not, is horrendous. Provides a good goal threat and way way more defensive contributions than ASM.2 points

You'd think that Ashworth would have been privy to any release clause held by Brighton players, and ÂŁ35m is a steal for Mac Allister. You'd have thought he'd have been all over it.2 points

I think Gordon was signed as much to be a utility player as anything else. His physique, athleticism and ability to cover the front 3 positions plus midfield is a great thing for a side in Europe and still lacking in depth.2 points

Aye, if it’s true it’s a good deal. I have a hard time believing much when that club are involved mind, they’re the one club that seems to pay significantly lower than any discussed release clauses/demands in the media after the signing. It always seems a bit like publicity and playing into this perception that Klopp is doing more with less than anyone else in a time where most transfers are officially undisclosed.2 points

Aye, he also played for the worst attacking side in the league for half the season which heavily impacts his statistics, as seen by his shooting ones which show his accuracy despite getting the opportunity to shoot as much when compared to his peers, as well as his defensive stats. Compared to the same stats for ASM: We can play around with stats all day to shape narrative how we want tbh, the thing that’s clear is ASM doesn’t mesh with Howe’s style of play - he suits a style where he gets all the ball and can do his mazy runs to the corner flag to his hearts content. Gordon is a youth prospect tbh.2 points

I didn't realise they were so into middle east politics and money? The lad who never watched the Saudi F1 races but watches the rest..... Wonder when this started? I'm guessing if he was around in the 90s then he also stopped buying sugar puffs for reasons.1 point

I'm not sure if that's true. We've produced a couple but nothing like West Ham, Everton and the like. And our best aren't near theirs.1 point

You are, without a doubt, one of the most gentle people that I have ever met in the world of football. You have been a man of your word, a caring man and a fair man who never hesitated to protect us. I will never forget how you treated me, for that I will be forever grateful. It has been an honour and a privilege to have you as a coach, thank you Steve1 point
