  1. Does this Felix lad say stuff like 'el catedral en la montaña', Diego? If so I think he has an English cousin...... '¡Hola, mis apostadores leales!'

  2. Feels like this season isn't getting the credit it deserves. 19 wins is the most in the top flight since 2011/12 14 draws is the most in the top flight since 2004/05 5 losses is the fewest in the top flight, ever. Only beaten by our Championship season under Hughton in 09/10 68 goals for is the most scored since 2001/02 33 goals against is the fewest goals conceded since 1904/05, when we won the league. +35 is our best Goal difference in the top flight since 1926/27, when we won the league. 71pts is our biggest points return in the top flight since 2001/02. The difference between our pts total last season vs this is huge, 22pts! No team made a bigger improvement. Since we were promoted our ability to create and prevent chances had been pretty poor but look at it now, and we're back to conceding less and scoring more than the league average too; (dashed line is league average.

  3. He'd be mad to leave the project at Sunderland when they're at the doorsteps of returning to their former glory. Especially if it's to go to one of those nothing clubs, in particular Brentford who stole their strip without the necessary reciprocal BFF agreement in place.

  4. "I am the still wandering spirit of the poor bastard budgie that had the misfortune to end up in boldon with CT and now rests in pieces in the ground under his rancid outdoor settee. TBD, well done with my hawk cousins, I hope they get the chance of a great life unlike the purgatory I had living with multi-hobby man who fed me the wrong bait and killed me off all because he couldn't be arsed to Google my diet. Tell wor lass the money's in the tin and I love her and my little budgies."

  6. just a footnote to anybody who was remotely interested to my goshawk nest story a couple of weeks ago.... because its a schedule one protected bird and as they've been doing forestry work with a tree harvester in the woodland where the nest is I contacted an organisation called the gloucestershire raptor monitoring group who were delighted with my find and arranged to meet me and show them the nest. the company doing the forestry work were ordered to stop any further work until the chicks fledge and in future no work can be done within the vicinity as the goshawks are likely to return to same nest next year. yesterday evening I was invited out by an ecologist to see the chicks being ringed and recorded. was a privilege to see these incredible birds so close and hold them, fantastic experience. my babies.......

  10. The person who signs the 'Marca' article is José Felix Díaz. José Felix Diaz is the Chief Director of the Real Madrid section in that newspaper, but he honestly would not dare to believe what he says. José Felix Diaz, just 7 days ago, wrote that Newcastle was going to sign Joao Felix and the only reason he had was that 'Newcastle have a lot of money'. José Felix Díaz has spent two summers making a fool of himself with the Real Madrid-Mbappe theme. What an eye, I am not saying that the Gabri Veiga thing cannot be done (In fact, the president of Celta de Vigo confirmed a few months ago that it was going to be impossible to retain him and that there were emissaries from Newcastle watching him play and we discussed it here). But for now I put the credibility of the news in quarantine.

  17. Maybe it's just a Twitter mirage, but there seems to be quite a bit of momentum behind this Veiga talk. Right, off to YouTube to run my expert eye over four minutes of the best things he's done over months of a season 😉👍

  21. So silly season has started. How many players do we think we will be linked with. My prediction is no more than 66

  24. Dunno if winning the PL with an expensively assembled side, that you've worked with for years and added a freak of nature to, is really worthy? Forget about Howe for a second, De Zerbi, Emery, O'Neill, and Arteta all deserve huge credit for the way they've guided their less expensively assembled squads, that they haven't worked with for long, without a goal scoring phenom up top.

  30. Seen us linked to this guy a few times. He played with Botman at Ajax and the Dutch under 21's, so it makes sense that we'd be after him. The rumour is that he's more than happy to stay at Torino for another year. So if we really like him, and that rumour is true, we could perhaps sort a plan to cover Schar for a season with a loan and go back in for him season after next. Assuming of course that he's indicated he'd be open to that.

  34. I thought this too "Dunno what the mags are talking about marra, there's mackems in the PL" "Gerrin, that goal against the mags went in off Clarke's arse, 7 in a row that" "Always loved Palace me, proper club. They love us down there an all"

  35. Agreed. I propose an automatic 48 hour ban for anyone who refers to him as anything other than “The Hungarian” or “The Magyar”.

  36. The great thing about that is, the mackems absolutely will not be able to accept losing him to those clubs.

  38. Szoboszlai>Maddison The Hungarian is younger. The Hungarian will cost a lot more money to transfer, but he will ask for less salary, so the price will probably end up being quite similar. I like that Maddison has played well in the Premier League and we agree that Szoboszlai is a bit more unknown, but that's not 100% effective either. How many players who played well in other Premier teams did not here? I think Maddison's peak level is where he is today, but Szoboszlai can still improve and become a star. I really like Maddison (in fact, last year I commented here that I would sign him before Paquetá), , but I think the Hungarian can go to another level. I think Maddison's style of play is slower, calmer and he doesn't have as much pressure. Szoboszlai seems to me a player with much more drive, with a good stride and capable of playing very well on the counterattack. I think Szoboszlai can play both on the right and in the middle and he can be a good long ball shooter and a good passer against tight defences.
