More than that, they've played with an air of complacency that we never even attempted to disrupt. Once they started with the playacting we should've gone on with a proper reducer on one of the culprits - Moreno the chief diver, but Young and Buendia offering plenty in that department as well - and put them on notice that we weren't going to put up with that shite. They never looked like they knew they were in a game, they looked like they were on the training ground and we did nothing to disabuse them of that notion.5 points

Nothing. There is no excuse. We would do very wrong to think badly of external agents. Today the game is horrible on our part. The post saved us in minute 1 for starting asleep, but in minute 15 Aston Villa had already scored a goal, two shots at the post and Pope had saved two goals with two saves with his feet. Very bad team game. We were able to wake up in the second half, in the first 15 minutes. And with the departure of Wilson and Almiron it seemed that a tie could come. It has saved us and given an extra life that Watkins was a few centimeters ahead, but Villa were able to kill the game there and they didn't. Anyway, they have achieved it minutes later. It's time to do self-criticism.4 points

No, but largely because that’s not what he said. He turned down 100k at city because he was behind zabaleta and didn’t think he should be, so he left for villa, who got relegated and a clause in his contract then dropped him to 25k.4 points

I think one of Rice’s underrated skills is his ability to get you up the pitch. He can just glide 40/50 yards with the ball effortlessly4 points

Aye but they were outperforming their XG. After looking at that and not watching a second of their actual football, I could conclude that we were going to win. They haven’t found a stat that measures confidence, extenuating factors like an opposition off the back off three straight away games and a massively in-form striker who was relishing a game against tired centre halves. Also, unrelated, when we were having our outrageous run last season, off the back of a new manager who took us from relegation up about 10 places, what did our xG and related stats look like? I wouldn’t be surprised if it was similar to Villa’s atm and we steamrolled Arsenal at home similar to how we were done today. Very dangerous to just write teams off on numbers when there’s so many more intangibles to football than that.3 points

You sound like you think I should have continued, and I AGREE. But moves have already taken place and I've been cast aside. VERY POOR. Way I recall you departing the scene was you'd managed something pathetic like 11 from 21, and then you turned up with a tremble in your voice talking about how you didn't know if you had it in you anymore. And from nowhere Toonpack (ACTUAL FUCKING TOONPACK!) snuck in, did two games, and it all got too much for him too. Understandable at your ages that it all got a bit heavy. It took the sheer audacity of youth to serve up 5 wins in 6.3 points

Fat Frank is, very unselfishly, making it clear that he's only been at the club 9 days, and that losing several games on the trot isn't really his fault 😂3 points

Spurs, we will fucking hammer them next week. That champ man template of a manager they have is fucking clueless3 points

Awful today, their players have had acres of space all game, embarrassingly so. Unfortunately our defence not having a good one has coincidentally enough linked in to our midfield being totally AWOL. We're third as we play as a unit, wander from that and this is the result. Hopefully there's a lesson to be learned because this'll cost us CL without a doubt if it isn't addressed. Shocking.3 points

in my 20+ years posting on various iterations of this website, I can’t think of one occasion when we’ve started a thread dedicated to one of their games3 points

No mistake, Rice is a brilliant player, has a great attitude and would be a quality addition. Every time we play West Ham he stands out against the rest of their team by a mile.3 points

that’s the thing that separates Bruno for me. He plays the modern number 6 role, doing more than just shield and break up play. Botman and Schar can give him the ball even if he’s got an opposition player on his arse because he’s so good on the ball he’ll just glide past them before orchestrating another attack from deep. I’m pretty sure fish all have some hipster Italian word for the deep lying playmaker role. I’ve also been impressed with how strong he he is on the ball given he’s not the biggest bloke. I’d be happy if we bought a cheaper number 6 than rice as an understudy and got Maddison in to play ahead of Bruno. I can see those two linking up beautifully Not that I wouldn’t take Rice too mind. He was west ham’s best player at sjp by far.3 points
