I'm now at that mindset where, if we lose the Final I'll not be particularly disheartened. 18 months ago we were among the favourites to go down, managed by an oaf, owned by a disinterested cunt. We played terrible football, there was a huge disconnect between the club and the fans, a lot of us were genuinely considering giving up on the whole enterprise. Now look at us; in the top 4 on merit, managed by a fairly bland but supremely professional young 'manager of the year' candidate, owned by interested cunts. We play good football, the fans and club haven't been so simpatico for over a decade and dunno about the rest of you but I have more interest in football in general than I have for years. Say we lose to Man Utd in the final, it's still a huge net gain. Say we finish 5th, that's still a massive, massive improvement. We were an embarrassment in the Premier League, now we're being run better than the majority. We are genuine CL contenders and will be again. We're signing exciting players and will sign more.9 points

Nice to see you're still with us! Don't worry, once you your toontastic meme is established, that's it established forever. I mean I've moved house THREE times since that stained glass window, and I havn't been attacked by a sea gull now for several weeks.8 points

One player being injured shouldn’t have too much impact on a side capable of finishing half way up the division above8 points

He's finally gone full circle and is looking like the player Man Utd wanted to buy. Let's hope they wish they had and he does them in the final.8 points

This lad and his rancid patter (in general) reeks of mackem like. In fact I’d rather he was because it’s fucking embarrassing if he’s actually a Newcastle fan7 points

Given his experience with Taxi queues I’d have thought Gemmill would handle rejection better than this.6 points

“ Galhart stood on the centre spot and took it all in- here he was, at the greatest football team in Wearside, desperate to impress. As he scanned the half empty stadium he felt a tear spring forth- was it the emotion of what lay ahead, or was it just the meaty tang of seat turds making his eyes sting? One thing he knew, he’d definitely be here longer than the gaffer.”6 points

I’ve said this before but you can’t belittle the huge achievement of winning EFL Trophy. Just a few years back a tie between Boro and Burton drew in a crowd of 202 people and Carlisle have won it twice.6 points

Btw, the roof is starting to leak in the Leazes I think. I'd send MF to deal with it but he's too busy shitting into plastic bags and murdering prostitutes nowadays.5 points

There was absolutely no malice from Bruno but that doesn’t alter the fact it was a horrendous tackle rightly punishable by a red card. The failure to call out Fabinho’s and Robertson’s - which in my opinion was worse - doesn’t make Bruno’s any less of a red. Appealing it would be a pointless waste of time that we’d better spend focused on other things. We need to take it on the chin and accept the 3-game ban.5 points

When the janitor went to open the doors of Thompson house this morning amongst the green bins and placca rubbish bags was a very dishevelled Knight with a half empty beer glass in one hand and his notepad in the other saying to the janitor, 'Woooaaah, y'fucka, me heed, WHAT A NIGHT THAT WAS!'5 points

It's like taunting a private jet owner by saying "aye but have you been to the Ryanair terminal at Stansted?!"5 points

That’s fine, if you were being reasonable and making constructive criticism. Rather than arguing this window has been disastrous. Or insisting a player who’s contributed next to fuck all should be starting in a side that’s got to a cup final and to 3rd in the league mostly without him. Fair enough though, you could just be clueless 👍🏻5 points

We did the right thing, the deals weren’t there so we didn’t overstretch for lesser targets. Getting rid of Shelvey is a no brainer, I know Glooms view on him but my personal opinion is he’s absolutely no miss whatsoever so I think we’ve done phenomenal business getting shot of him for what we did, plus the bloke is a cunt (Jonjo not Gloom 😉). Maybe we could have made our top 4 challenge stronger, but at the same time I fancy our chances even with the current CM especially with Gordon coming in meaning J7 can drop to CM as and when needed. We will have a lot more firepower in the second half of the season with Isak and Gordon, having those two in will also stop Almiron getting the coverage he’s received recently. I don’t think Connor Gallagher was the separator between us getting Top 4 or not tbh.5 points

It's a conundrum alright. Why have Leeds loaned out Gelhardt to Sunderland when Sunderland are above them* in the league? It makes no sense! * Mackem make beleive league.4 points

I totally get the point you're making DK, but in a bizarre sense I think it's a product of us getting ahead of the plan so to speak. The plan was to be challenging for CL in 3-5 years and here we are a little over 12 months in and we're already there. We're still at the stage where a) we're organically weeding out the dead wood and shitty long-term deals the previous ownership lumbered us with and b) we haven't yet got the commercial deals in place to back the necessary investment that the personnel, and selling clubs will demand. It's tremendous to think that we're challenging for the Champions League places already but it's questionable whether as a club we are truly ready for it. And the management infrastructure we have in place do not strike me as the type who would sign players to make up the numbers or just for the sake of it. They will identify their targets, go for them and if they don't land them they won't settle for something that comes up short in their minds. I would also add that they way the club has handled the situation with Shelvey oozes class. He's approaching 31 and clearly wasn't going to be offered the length of deal Forest offered. Howe seemed clearly at pains that he was moving on but they've allowed it to happen gracefully and with their blessing. Contrast that with how Everton dealt with Anthony Gordon wanting to leave, or even some of our players during the Ashley era.4 points

Of all his crimes I've always thought that was the worst - even surpassing his treatment of Keegan which I'd happily see him die for.4 points

He was booked, so there’s a fucking ridiculous rule where if the player was booked it’s deemed the ref hadn’t missed the incident he just saw it as a bookable offense so they won’t upgrade the punishment despite everyone and their dog knowing the decision was completely wrong. Makes a fucking farce of the entire thing but here we are.4 points

Yep. He was the only player that looked dangerous when we played Everton last season. The fact that he managed to do so in such a gutless, pedestrian side speaks volumes. He's an ambitious, confident player with an engine and one thing you can't train - pure speed. He'll fit straight into our style of play and will give some balance to our attack. The other thing about watching him previously was that I really didn't like him, which is a sure sign that there's some quality about him. He'll be shithousing for us from this point forth, can you imagine how annoying that face is going to be for other teams and their supporters as we overwhelm them with our pressing and beat them.4 points

I think before the window I said that for me Striker, backup Rightback and DM were priorities. We've signed a wide forward/midfielder and a back up rightback. I'm pretty happy about that, sure it would have been great to sign some exciting young talent from Brazil, or grabbing Maddison off Leicester. But I trust the people running the club. Bruno missing 3 games is rough, but with Longstaff, Joelinton, Joe Willock, Anderson, we have 4 central mids, and we've been pushing a central midfielder out onto the left wing for the recent games. Longstaff will drop deeper, Joelinton and Willock will play in front of him. Gordon/ASM on the left, Almiron/Isak on the right, Wilson/Isak up front. Gordon is relentless in the press so will add balance to our attack, Ashby looks a real prospect at rightback so we can give Trippier a bit of a rest during games too. I'd say B-4 points

Fabinho fucking knew he got away with it too. It was a shockingly bad challenge and deserved a straight red - staggering that VAR didn’t pick it up but they don’t do that with Liverpool. Bruno’s was a red too but there was no intent. It was a mistimed challenge at the end of the game.4 points

Whilst the second in particular was a great team goal the first was a good finish but one where the keeper might think he should’ve done better. But even if he had it would’ve been difficult not to save it into a dangerous area. I don’t mean that as a criticism of Longstaff in any way, rather to highlight the importance of working the keeper and forcing a save when you get into those positions.4 points

Howling at them saying the flags & scarfs are “free” and “club funded” as if wor flags wasn’t around well in advance of the takeover, by about 7 years Also the club shop have been absolutely raking it in selling scarfs. Such bitter losers4 points

Finally, FINALLY, we get to a Wembley final and emulate Sunderland's many 3rd division play off games there and obviously not forgetting the Papa John's Sherpa Van Trophy appearance.4 points
