I think the difference with him to others under Bruce is he didn’t fucking try, Almiron, Joelinton, and a few others were shite but they worked Shelvey basically downed tools knowing he was getting picked regardless. He has ability but he’s just another in a massive line of players whose attitude stinks, for me he doesn’t deserve a chance under Howe, we’ve seen him under Howe and it was pretty average - his performances were nowhere near Bruno which is the calibre of player we are aiming to bring in and having deadwood like him is blocking that. Having another year of him on £80k a week would have been an issue, getting rid now is the best solution as we’ve not needed him at all this season. I’m sorry like I just can’t get my head around people watching this prick for 7 fucking years and wanting to see more of him, we can and will buy better players than he ever was even when he tried his fucking hardest for the 3-5 games a season where he did. I can’t stand him as a player, and he’s also one of them where I’ve heard enough accounts from people where I can safely assume I wouldn’t like him as a person. Good riddance to a waste of talent. I’ll be happy even if we don’t replace him, he’s done nowt this season and we now have Joelinton freed up to play CM with Gordon coming in. We need to be supporting and backing Howe, allowing him to bring in top players that fit in his system not hoping he can carry on polishing turds.9 points

We have a country of adults who almost universally use the word "poo" rather than faeces or defecate and when they go to the doctor still use phrases like "down there" and "women's problems" I'm all for anything that changes that and produces actual adults - and yes even at seven.8 points

Fuck me, some of you are rewriting history more than Trump does. I'll happily fly over and drive the cunt to Forest myself if we can get his, no fucks given, arse out the door this window.8 points

I’ll be absolutely buzzing for us to finally be rid of Jonjo fucking Shelvey. I’m confused by comments regarding his attitude, the bloke is an absolute prick and took the piss for 8 fucking years I couldn’t give a flying fuck if he finally decided to start turning up once a manager held him accountable. If it’s true we got 10m for the cunt we’ve absolute rinsed Forest this window. They can enjoy him kicking 40 yard passes out to touch while he has 3 better options on.7 points

Always had him down as a pino grigiot man I’m going to defend him. He was our best player the season we came back up under Rafa. One of our best players while Rafa was manager full stop tbf, and the one who could play a forward pass in a negative team. I agree about his attitude - it’s the reason he ended up at playing for Ashley’s Newcastle instead of making at Liverpool. And he was pretty rotten while Bruce was in charge, but then who wasn’t? It’ll always be a question of what if with him. It’s a short career and he’ll probably look back and reflect that he wasted a lot of it. It’s a shame because he is blessed with ability that not a lot of players have - he is one of the best passers of the ball I’ve ever seen play for us - but I agree he lacked the desire to make it as a top player. I feel a bit for him because I think he can see where the club is going and he busted a gut to raise his game so he could be part of it. Last season was his best ever for us. Shame for him personally that in the end it was too little, too late.6 points

Tea is fucking vile, which is weird because as a kid, family called me "teapot" because I couldn't drink enough of it (not because I minced around) not sure when but the taste of it went from lovely to fucking obscene at some point and remains so.5 points

He's reported to be on £70k per week. That's too much for what will be a squad player. There's no doubt he's talented but far too often the application simply wasn't there. He can come in and graft for a while but eventually he always returns to form.5 points

fucking class that like. Love how the attacking player loses it and throws the ball at him too5 points

You can all laugh but that ended the special relationship with the world’s classiest club5 points

Aye. I’m Pro-Shelvey as well. He would have been in first choice midfield this season but for that bad injury. The transfer makes sense for both. He’ll get 3 years at Forest whereas he’d only be on another year here as a bit part player He has great ability but lacks pace and closing down which this team now requires. Ive also never seen a player so head and shoulders above - when he played in the championship. Good luck to him.5 points

I went on a med cruise about 15 years ago. Sporty was on it although I only saw her on the BA chartered flight to Italy at the start of it so I doubt she left her suite much. Terry Butcher was on it. We spoke to him a few times and he’s even more dull and humourless than he comes across on tv and radio4 points

he had the odd decent match for us but for me shelvey's time here will forever be tainted by clarko turning with a whole host of heat maps, graphs, pie charts, algebra equations etc hell bent on convincing everyone that not only was he the best midfielder newcastle had ever had but possibly in the entire world.4 points

Give me 90s All Saints any day over the Spice girls. Although I watched celebratory MasterChef and Mealnie Blatt has morphed into a Mumsy middle aged house wife who's a fucking good cook. Suits me.4 points

Fuck off, didn't you get huge payout from Northern Rock just so they could get some actual workers in? No doubt you're the Jonjo of accountants, all long balls to no one and breathing out your arse when effort is required.4 points

I think he’d have been usurped as a first team player anyway as he lacks the physical attributes needed for the way Howe wants to play anyway. And his technical ability (although very good) doesn’t make up for that. Apart from the one half season before the Russia World Cup I haven’t been impressed with him. He’s one of those who strikes a lovely looking 60 yard pass to a team mate in a position no better than the one he was in that makes people in the crowd applaud. If we can get rid and command a fee I’ll be delighted. He’s bang average (at best) and I’d say the same about his attitude for most of his time here.4 points

As per Gloomy and Wyki was looking forward to see how he could fit in. He was the fittest he had ever been and genuinely motivated to earn a spot in the team. On some level he knew that this was his chance to go out on a high so he was doing all he could to make the most of it including being positionally more diligent, defensively more active and generally more disciplined, the three biggest criticisms that have plagued his career. He matured a few seasons too late to be honest. I thought he had triggered his extension here, but that must not be the case. Howe believed in him and was all set to bring him back into the rotation before his second injury. Perhaps now Shelvey sees Longstaff embedded and Gordon and Isak taking another forward/midfield position making it harder for him to crack a spot. If he doesn't go he's the kind of depth we should keep IMO, someone different and skilled who could potentially offer a lot of value in training.4 points

My feelings too. (Not the wine). Shame he got that injury as it could have been a great season for him. He looked on form and fit and buzzing to go.4 points
