Fair play to us (very kind of him), we're doing OK, but the rest of the country simply cannot stop talking about SAFC. And for all the right reasons. There is something truly special about being mid table in the Championship, and the whole country is standing up and taking notice. What will the nation's darlings do next? Jump up to 8th spot? Who could say? It's why EVERYONE is watching and they simply cannot get enough of what's going on on Wearside at the minute. Forget about what's going on in the Premier League, or even in the Championship automatic promotion spots (currently 16 points higher than Sunderland) and just feast your eyes on the free flowing, attacking football that gets you to 41 points after 28 played in the Championship, with ONLY 9 defeats.11 points

Nottingham Forest, best club in the world in my books. They are like Cash Converters. They have signed Lodi and Wood. And they are going to sign Felipe Monteiro and Shelvey. I Chose believe.8 points

Perhaps he wants to play for a Champions League side as opposed to one of those mid-table mediocre outfits.7 points

I must say, I’m now a completely relieved we’ve been knocked out of the FA Cup. I couldn’t face the possibility of meeting Sunderland and the total humiliation that would inevitably follow. I pity the teams they will eviscerate on their path to ultimate glory. But when they do lift that trophy, and 2 weeks later win the Championship at a canter, they will do the whole country proud. The Black Cats will rightfully reclaim their Top Dogs moniker.7 points

Aye he’s a fuckin wanker, his classic thing is to pour water on everything but caveat it in some way that he can go back on it, such as the below: We’ve just spent £45m on a player. Seems FFP wasn’t an issue, it was more likely negotiations were going on and cunt chops didn’t have a clue. More cold water. Throw in some negativity, and a clear dig at NUFC fans on Twitter getting excited. Negative about Joelintons chances of playing. Just another thing he got wrong. Another negative article, basically we can’t spend because of FFP so it’ll be loans or fuck all. Another pretty negative article 3 days later, basically saying the club don’t want to spend, FFP etc, it’ll probably just be loans, Gordon briefly mentioned but it’s just in a run down of all the players linked and it’s not a strong or positive link. Mention of Gordon, but he incorrectly thinks DCL is the focus as he’s constantly linked us to - Gordon was always the target. Another negative article, questioning the club not spending - despite him constantly bleating about FFP being a complete blocker. Weird one, and incorrect of course. First proper mention of Gordon, but it’s just mentioned in the context of he’s “heard him linked a lot” but he then of course says he mentioned Gordon in an article - he did but he also mentioned about 8 other players as a list people were mentioning it wasn’t him breaking anything or giving anything definitive. Negative, another “as I said” despite it all being piggybacking off others making the link. Another negative one, clearly this one was a proper negotiation but Edwards here trying to frame it more like the Maddison situation from the summer. Gordon signing happened, Luke has then said that one signing is it, and started pouring more cold water on any other link . Oh aye he also got the structure of the Gordon deal wrong, then mentioned Ashby for the very first time way after others - so if that one happens expect a ton of “like I mentioned earlier this week” shite. The bloke is an absolute fucking whopper, he’s also got two of his mates tweeting stuff like “as Luke said” about the Gordon transfer when the cunt did no such fucking thing other than citing others and being negative.7 points

I agree toonotl. As people are saying, I think there are parallels with the reaction to Bellamy’s signing. I remember quotes from the Coventry City forum along the lines of ‘you’ve been done/ he’s crap/ Ill drive him there myself.’ The lad seems pacey and skilful with an eye for goal and willingness to graft. Plus a strong will to win. Sounds like he’ll fit right in - I dont see how his transfer can be a bad thing for us at all, but time will tell. $40m seems about the going rate for a young British well rated attacking player. His aggressive snidey behaviour doesnt bother me at all as long as he doesnt get sent off. Im sure theyll have done their research on him as a person so lets wait and see how he turns out.7 points

Nah, I was just going to say it myself, then I figured someone must have said it about CT before. Lo and behold...6 points

Sell. Sell. Sell! He is hardly ever playing and on huge wages. With Joelinton being able to play in midfield again, I d rather sell him than keep him to make up numbers.6 points

I don't understand any of our supporters being outright against Gordon's signing before we've even seen him play in our side. Smells like mackem tbh. I think Howe and Ashworth have shown enough to make the argument that they know more than we do. For mine, the bare minimum should be to wait and see how things develop with Gordon before declaring it bad business. Personally, I'm very optimistic. I think Gordon fits our system well. Essentially, he will provide on the left flank what Almiron provides on the right. He potentially provides us with a solution to the lop-sided and somewhat one-dimensional shape of our attack in recent matches against sides sitting in and trying to condense space. Gordon will stretch the pitch, play direct, run into the channels on occasion, and provide a goal threat running at defenders with pace and skill. These attributes also will act to provide more space to Almiron which then improves the balance of the side in attack to make us even harder to play against. Gordon arguably provides everything ASM provides in attack but with the added benefit of defensive awareness and workrate. This isn't to say that ASM is now surplus to requirements in my opinion. Far from it. I love ASM. I hope he stays because he offers us something very special in attack. I am hopeful that Gordon is the replacement for Murphy. If we think back to earlier in the season Howe was starting Murphy on the left-flank as an inverted winger with Joelinton and Longstaff in midfield with Bruno sitting deeper and holding Willock on the bench to come on late for either Murphy or one of the two more progressive midfielders. I think this signing allows Howe to return to that setup with Gordon starting in place of Murphy and pushing Willock back to the bench to compete with Joelinton and Longstaff for a starting spot in midfield. (At least until we sign another midfield player, hopefully a hardworking 6 to replace Longstaff which allows Bruno to play a bit further forward.) I'm not sure exactly where ASM fits in Howe's plans. It could be the case that ASM will eventually want away to resume his position as THE PLAYER in a smaller team, but I'm hopeful he still has a place within the squad to start when he deserves to (which he certainly does at the moment for example) and come off the bench when we need something extra. I love a flair French winger. And I don't trust anyone who doesn't tbh. This signing makes us better at the level of the squad. I don't think that is a controversial position.6 points

I’ll be absolutely buzzing for us to finally be rid of Jonjo fucking Shelvey. I’m confused by comments regarding his attitude, the bloke is an absolute prick and took the piss for 8 fucking years I couldn’t give a flying fuck if he finally decided to start turning up once a manager held him accountable. If it’s true we got 10m for the cunt we’ve absolute rinsed Forest this window. They can enjoy him kicking 40 yard passes out to touch while he has 3 better options on.5 points

can't for the life of me understand why they're bothering playing these other fa cup ties to be honest. after the famous mackem draw yesterday at fulham that had the entire football world sit up and take notice you'd have thought they'd have just given them the cup straight away.4 points

One of them was maradona's cousin, said Diego had always admired Sunderland and hoped to sign for them when he knew he was going to Europe but insert reasons here why his club wouldn't sell him to the NE giants. What could've been, marra. FTM.4 points

He's certainly not the glamour signing most of us wanted but, as others have mentioned, his work rate and pace will fit right in with our style of play. Yeah he's fugly and will bring the average looks of the squad down but his Mrs has big tits so there's that.4 points

I thought they looked canny second half hitting Fulham on the break. But some of the levels of delusion on RTG are off the fucking scale. Someone on there said second half was the best football they’d ever seen, not just by Sunderland. 1st half they had 30% possession against Fulham’s second string (although they defended well) and the second period was only marginally better. I.e. they actually did what they (inaccurately) criticise us for, by sitting deep (that’s a low block to those who don’t know what that means) and looking to counter. The fewm when we get their 15 year old superstar in the summer should be delicious btw4 points
